Lemme see... I started with Poser 4(.03) and had to have the Pro Pack. Then I had to have Poser 5. Then M2, V2, V3, clothes, hair, accessories, funny looking animals, props, and so on. Then it was time to make my own models, so I had to have a 3D modeling program and UVMapper Pro. Settled on C4D R8 and Lightwave 7.5 for modeling. Had to have books also! So, what's the total so far? About seven gadgillion dollars! Or in the neighborhood of $5K to $7K in less than a year. ;) BYS
Thread: Dual View... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
According to the "NVidiaDisplayPropsGuide.pdf", it appears that you should be able to at least get an analog TV monitor onto the SVideo out and use that as an extended display. The limitations are 800x600@60Hz for resolution to that display. I think that if the card is recent enough ;), you should exchange it up for an nVidia card with dual outputs (DVI and VGA). All cards that come with a DVI port also include a DVI->VGA converter that hooks onto the DVI port, so you can use two VGA monitors. The only reason that I'm using two video cards instead of just the AGP Ti4600 (which has DVI & VGA outs) is to allow the nVidia Stereo3D (stereoscopics) drivers to work on both monitors simultaneously. BYS

If you can find an adapter from SVideo to VGA, it should work, but not certain if the SVideo outs on the GeForce MX cards are passthrough or separable signals. Check the information and specification for the Geforce4 MX 440 to see if it's possible. If it says it can handle a monitor on VGA and another on SVideo for dual-view, then go for it (this may also be enumerated in the nView PDF - I'll check it shortly). Nope, you can have one AGP card and another PCI card with different monitors hooked up and nView will let you clone and extend between them. You can mix cards sometimes (nVidia, ATI, Matrox), but it can get tricky. The recommendation is to use two cards with the same chipset (GeForce4 and GeForce4). The other recommendation is that the PCI card be in the first PCI slot after the AGP card. BYS

You need either two video cards (one AGP, one PCI) or a card with dual outputs (DVI/VGA or VGA/VGA). Otherwise it won't be possible. If memory serves, the Geforce MX cards do not have multiple outputs. You need an AGP TI card (TI 4200, 4600) or an additional card in PCI (I have a Geforce4 TI 4600 AGP and Geforce4 MX 420 PCI). You will need to install the NVidia drivers again and both video cards (and attached monitors) should be seen in the Display Properties->Settings. You have to enable nView and go through the wizard for it before it works. Go to NVidia's site to get a PDF that explains the setup procedure and settings in detail. BYS

Ah, HP, don't ya love 'em?! ;0) The only HP product that I use is an almost antiquated DeskJet 712C, which, thankfully, has drivers available from Windows directly. Glad you traced the cause and fixed it!

I knew there was at least one way to do it without Pro Pack, but since I haven't done it, I didn't want to give ignorant information. :) I believe there is a way to do it "manually" by adding the model as a prop (or something), editing the .pp2 file to add all of the rigging information, then renaming it to .cr2 and moving it into the Character folder. But that is just from memory. This is definitely the hard way to do it. BYS

Do you have Poser 4 or Pro Pack? Pro Pack has the Setup Room to rig characters. Poser 4 does not. You'll have to edit a .cr2 file by hand to otherwise.

;) So, what's the book called and when should it be expected to be released into the "wild"? :) Thanks again, BYS

That's what I thought. Still going to be difficult to interpret the sphereMatsRaw values. Here's another one: Despite what some have discovered about the .cr2 file (ala Autopsy), there is more than meets the eye. For instance, I have discovered that one can include "prop" with the "actor" list as well as an alternative form of "storageOffset" which points to an "objGeomFile" with two values that are unknown: objGeomFile 0 0 ::Runtime:Geometries:ProPack:blGlasses.obj Can anyone disclose any information about the structure of the .cr2 file? There is more to this file than even the most thorough explanations have given so far. BYS

I love stereoscopics!! :) The one thing that did this was a 3D stereo "dragon" demo movie for the old VGA i-O Glasses HMD. Seeing a moving environment in 3D (which is how the world is normally interpreted by our eyes-brains) instead of an unnatural 2D makes the experience that much better. Now if I were only any good at animation...

Excellent! Had you mentioned the library folders thing, a flood of responses would have pointed you directly to PBoost (maybe I missed your mention of the reason - doh!). The P5 libraries being able to be nested is a nice feature of P5. They could have patched P4PP with this one feature and saved themselves alot of trouble... ;)

Pax, Warez is illegal, no matter if for evaluation or not. You can get LEGAL demo/trial versions of the other software you (and I) mentioned. And mentioning it too often here could get you banned from Renderosity. Secondly, your reasoning isn't working. If he were to acquire a downloadable version and decided to purchase it, how is he getting the legal version by download? BYS

Anthony, I saw it at CL's store. What you have to do is go to "Products", select "More Info", select "Buy It", choose your Region, and it's near the bottom (hard version, e-versions for both PC and Mac). Worth it in every way if you want to do more with Poser. BYS
