Haha. Yeah, I'm doing the still in post processing via Photoshop. I still want to figure it out because I'd like it for animation purposes. I'm giving it another try today. PS MicroStation users...if using ft and inches, Vue translates PERFECTLY to true scale. 1 unit = 1 inch!

Not when you're trying to blend these textures....for my job.

"and drive it with a function that will let the grass appear on the out side of the pavement" Exactly. I just gotta find out how to drive that function. Arg! This single problem has taken 6 hrs of my life away already. Could I use a b+w bitmap iven if it's a big element?

Well, the thing is, there is no curb. This is a giant model and that's the shoulder of the road which curves quite a bit and often. I cant add geometry as there is no curb in the CAD file.
Would this have to be driven by functions maybe?
I think I either have to have multiple layers of textures (for the road I'd have the shoulder material underneath the darker concrete and then set the darker concrete to fade to transparency when near edges, thus showing the lighter concrete.) Problem is I cant find a function to drive this. I wish there was a Distance to Edge function like I created
foam on a beach with (Distance to Object Below).
I have to be precise, so I cant do the distribution map.
Any other ideas?

Anyone know why the area will populate FULLY with grass if I only have that in the ecosystem, but if I add a tree (presense of .005), the amount of grass goes DRASTICALLY down. The only thing changed is I added trees to the mix. Decay near foreign objects is off.

Not to say it's the grass that's bad. It just didn't look like rough. I went back to Vue's patches of grass and some photoshop. I think that Flinks grass will be better for a meadow or tall grassy area.

Right, sorry if I confused you but Resize and Center is off. I'm not sure why it's not working exactly. Here's exactly what I do. 1. Make a selection set in MicroStation 2. Export the selection set to DWG 3. Import DWG into Deep Exploration 4. Tell it to make items 20% of their DWG size (for import purposes) 5. Save as a LWO 6. Import LWO into Vue From there it is usually off center and off its height. If I try exporting the whole thing to DWG, DE sees 1 object, but 6 materials. Then when I save it as an LWO, Vue only sees the object...I cant select it by material it seems. BAH!!!! I see DE had a "center object" checked on buried deep in the options! HGJFJHFGHTRR@!@!$@!$

Resize and center imported objects I dont think will work for me using my current workflow because I'm using Deep Exploration to export and to get it into Vue, it has to be resized to 20% of what it comes in as. Otherwise, vue doesn't see it correctly. It may work if I further resize it down in DWG format. I think DE is resizing each object seperate from one another so it changes the position. I'm afraid I have different problems from most because I'm using specific CAD data to make real life renders. Thanks for the arrow workaround!

Thread: Populating with a billboard? | Forum: Vue
The thing is, this is a piece of art advertising something for a client and the other sky is too busy and distracting. The rocks need to be the focal point.

Well, I need to get some sort of scale to those "shore breaks". If I shouldn't have the billboards in the water, any ideas where? I personally like the person by the break, and the people on the beach, but not the one to the left. To me it looks like she's deeper in the water than the ocean floor actually would be from that point. agiel: Thanks for the answer!

UV map did not help. You know what did? DEEP EXPLORATION. BEST $150 I SPENT IN A LONG TIME! I convinced my bosses to buy Vue and then it wouldn't texture the format we needed it to. I just open the DWG export in there, save it as a lightwave object, and there ya go. Accepts textures n all that!
