I've always had to copy the !DAZ folder in Libraries into the main Poser runtime when I install a new version of Poser. Poser doesn't seem to find it if it's in an external runtime.

Where are these scripts. that remove bump maps, remove clutter, etc.?
Preview never looks as good for me as it does when other people do it. The black lines end up ugly. Maybe I need different lighting? Or maybe people touch it up in Photoshop?

I'd love to use the Preview and Sketch modes more, but I know nothing about them. Would pay for presets if they were for sale.

My tip is for using wind force. It's easy...as long as you increase the range.
For some reason it comes in with a range of 0.1. That is generally too short to actually reach your figure's clothing or hair. I thought it didn't work, and gave up the first time I tried it.
Increase the range. Make sure those lines are a long enough to actually interact with the hair or clothing you want to flutter in the breeze.

I suspect Ohki! is correct. It's building the kernels or whatever that takes so long.
I had it happen more than once, but it was probably because I killed it too soon.
Thread: L'homme and La Femme need real names | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
It's probably too late to give La Femme a "real" name, but maybe they'll consider it for the new figure. Which is supposed to available any week now.
Instead of La Femme 2 or whatever, give her an actual name. That is easy to spell.

Their names are too easily misspelled, at least by English speakers. My Renderosity purchases land in folders called La Femme, Le Femme, LaFemme, etc. and it's a pain.

Interesting. I wonder what the reason for the difference is?Found the Catalog file, it is in the AppData-Roaming-Poser-13-ContentLibrary?? , Never had such a large Index like the one in P13 it reached over "2GB" that is huge !! in Poser 11 the same runtimes are under 300 meg
I don't think it's virus scanning that's the problem. My runtimes are shared by all versions of Poser, and only Poser 13 is choking.

Might be just because I have so many drives attached. (Six, along with the two internal.) There might be some interference issues. Still, I don't have any problems with other software. Poser is the only one that gives me that error message. And it's barely a blip with Poser 11. Just ignore the message, and it works fine.Access denied is an operating system error. Poser's just repeating what Windows said.
Not sure about Poser 12. I haven't used it much.

Could be. But what does it mean if I've shut down Poser using the task manager during the process? Does that mean the kernels aren't fully built or something?
Thread: Poser 13 very slow when accessing external runtimes | Forum: Poser 13
It does seem to be some kind of permissions problem. I get the same message with Poser 11 once in awhile, but I can just ignore it, and stuff loads fine.
There's no runtimes on the C drive. All my runtimes, including the default runtime, are on an external drive. Called Poser (P:) It only has Poser content. Poser 11 (and 12) use the same runtimes.
The exact message is:
Poser Error
Failed to retrieve file times for [path to runtime] (error 5: access is denied)

randym77 posted at 5:12 PM Thu, 27 April 2023 - #2979035Yes, that's what happens! Though Poser freezes for more than a few seconds. Maybe a minute or so. But then it works fine. Superfly seems to render a lot faster afterwards, too.Ive run into this too. For test sake, next time it hangs, see what happens if you press Alt+F4 (make sure you saved your work before attempting, or try with a test scene).I tried the same file in Poser 12, and it's fine. Click "cancel," and the render cancels nearly instantly.
But with Poser 13, it just hangs. Task Manager shows CPU usage is high, but nothing seems to be happening. Maybe it would resolve eventually, but after several minutes, I killed Poser. Tried it again after rebooting, same results.
See if instead of forcing Poser closed (as Alt+F4 normally would), see if it cancels render, freezes Poser for a few seconds, and then go back to normal. If it does, now try to render with Superfly against and then also cancel it again once it starts. Curious if we are getting the same results.
Thread: There is something wrong with the default IBL in latest build of Poser | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I know, but for true beginners, I think that's too high a bar. I'd like to see something like that as a Poser default. Like, what lighting would you make the default lighting if you knew the user wasn't going to change it?randym77 posted at 3:33 PM Sat, 22 April 2023 - #4463063
Rhia474 posted at 12:16 PM Wed, 19 April 2023 - #4462762There are any number of environments that are available commercially from the complex environment provided by the likes of the Terra environments from MortemVetus which are completes sets, or similar from Flipmode that includes either a dome or skybox along with props to create a scene and lighting to complement the scene in question. Another range of possibilities are the HDRI offerings from Sharramuse which recommends the environmental dome by Bagginsbill when used in Poser but will work with any similar dome. All of these easy to use and to control the level of lighting so that it matches the scene. That has been my experience as well. I think including better lighting would be the easiest way to improve Poser for beginners. It's something people really seem to struggle with.I honestly only tried those environments once and found them way too bright for what i do,
