Thread: OT: Bomb explosions in London | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
A small update, 6.30pm UK time, 30 miles from London.
Apart from the directly affected stations, transport links are returning to normal. But word's getting out that the death toll is going to be a lot higher than 40.

I agree with Bonni. If you were to create something in (say) XSI and render it with MentalRay, you wouldn't be under any obligation to claim it was made with the latter program.
I don't think you need to be concerned about ethics on this one; just do what you think is appropriate.
Thread: 3d.sk subscription problems | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I don't know if this helps, but he's richard@3d.sk (with two 'r's).
I'm an ex-member as well and may want to resubscribe. I'd be interested to see how this turns out if it's anything more than a misspelt email address.

Nice rendering - I haven't read the book for ages; I might have another look at it now.
Khai's absolutely right on those dates - technically, though, the Victorian era began in 1837 when she came to the throne.

Thanks for posting this; it's a real find. How did you hear about it? There's nothing on Right Hemisphere's site about DP2D at all.
Now, if they'd only release an earlier version of DP3D for free as well... somehow I doubt it. :-)

And a few months later, on Christmas day;
Vader - My son, I know what you've got for Christmas!
Luke - How do you know?
Vader - Because this morning... under the tree... I felt your presents...

Furyofaseraph;As you've got access to Max, you might want to give this link a try.
I don't have Max, and I don't know how low-poly the model comes out - but general opinion seems to be that it's the best tutorial of its kind around.

<< I can't imagine 600 polygons looking that good in say Poser 4. >>
Agreed; but P5/P6 with a skinshader script might get close.

If you want some inspiration, here's what can be done with a 600-poly head and a 256-pixel-square texture-map (and Maya and Photoshop, admittedly...)Probably no separate eyes and mouth in these figures, though.
Thread: What would it take to make Poser a "Professional" application? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I'd agree with most of what's been said about the details of the workflow.
FWIW, I think what P6 does is superb. One boost in the 'professional' direction would have been to lose the MetaUI look, and to introduce something more conventional. By this I mean standard toolbars top and left, palattes or panels on the right, and the viewport taking up the rest of the space.
With minor variations, this is the default layout shared by 3DS, Maya, Vue, and others - even DAZ|Studio (XSI is a slightly different animal, but not by much).
Right at the start of the P6 threads, one or two people regretted the opportunity lost in not doing this, and I think they were right.
You can still have eye-candy in your interface if you want, and you can still have it completely customisable - but the 'out of the box' look becomes more professional.
At the moment, Poser's UI reminds me of the old car bumper sticker - 'This program has hidden power, but I'm damned if I can find it!'
Thread: Help needed locating the new version Dalek. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
If it helps; according to the press in the UK, the new design is based more on the Daleks from the '60s feature-films than those from the TV series. There might be some reference material available on this.

Thread: Setting up ANY version of Poser for first use, a Tutorial | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Jim;
Thanks for this. Generally, I set up the same way as you do, but you've added a few hints which will be useful.
There's an old thread (more than a year, I think) where people posted screenshots of setups they used which they found useful. I think I have it bookmarked; if I find it, I'll post the link here.
And layingback - thank you - I've been after that hint for a while. Did you find it by accident, or is it buried in the documentation somewhere?

Piffle! It's running on a ZX-81 here; sweet as a nut.
