...in which case, I think an application of "Well-Horse" might do the trick. It works miracles, apparently...
Seriously though, this stuff appears to work - they do a dog version which we tried when one of our Northern Inuits cut himself badly just below his eye. It also sorted out a chemical burn on our cat's nose (it's ok- he thinks he's a dog anyway). Both wounds healed with almost no visible scarring. Apparently repeated use knocks out your ability to use apostrophe's though, so I wouldn't allow our cat or dog to set any type now.

...it wouldn't work without them, they are an ESSENTIAL part of the system, especially the ones on the memory modules....they help the memory to, er, remember stuff better.....

Aw, shucks....I'm useless, really....! Just couldn't get it to work in Poser for some reason. Nailed it in seconds in Bryce, but the idea I've got for a picture needs to be done in Poser.

This is exactly the effect I'm after; would you be able to share your material settings? I tried using a squashed sphere with the glass procedurals, but they don't give the magniying effect I'm after!

Thread: Does anyone know who the artist is? | Forum: Bryce
The name Jonathon Allen seems to ring a bell, but we are talking of a time long, long ago.....
In those days the people who could make Bryce do this kind of stuff were the gods....Jeff Richardson, Peter Sharpe, Bob Buttery, Bill Munns, Necati Pamuk, a certain "Clay Hagebusch"....!
Great times.

Thread: New to Carrara and I'm clueless! | Forum: Carrara
I used to write Poser tutorials for "3D Artist" magazine, and got a copy of 7.2 with one of the issues containing an article of mine. I only just installed it yesterday, so I'm in the same boat as the OP! It looks terrifying, but I'm looking forward to being able to do some modelling and rendering with Carrara, hopefully I'll get good enough to post some pics here along with my Poser work!

Quote - I didn't know the answer to that until I checked on my 64-bit Windows 7 machine - yes the cmd utility is the same.
BB, you're a star - this modified desktop shortcut works perfectly on my Vista system (Pro 2010, Quad 6600 CPU, 8Gb Ram); at last I can do other stuff without screaming while rendering with Poser! Thanks very much for the advice, mate.

Whoops, sorry, cross-post/edit!
my shortcut properties reads:
"C:Program FilesSmith MicroPoser Pro 2010PoserPro.exe" - would the new bits be the same as for what you have posted in bold, as it's a 64-bit (?) application/system? Sorry to be a bit dim, but, well, I am. Dim, that is.

Will it run Poser below normal with each launch, then?

A bit late, I know, but Bagginsbill's post above is hands-down one of the best tips I've ever come across for Poser, I'm using Vista with Pro 2010 and this has just made my life a whole lot easier. It should be in a sticky.

Thread: Recreating another Artist's work | Forum: Bryce
I've always argued/thought that deconstructing an image that really moves you is a vital and perfectly valid creative tool. I spent almost the whole of my 2nd year as a Fine Art student painting a meticulous full-sized copy of "Mariana in the Moated Grange" by Millais - my lecturers were nonplussed, but I learned an awful lot about Pre-Raphaelite painting techniques! Can't see a problem with the ethical side of it, as long as you don't try and pass it off as your own work or make money from it. As others have said, it's always good manners to ask, if in doubt. I usually find it opens up other creative avenues of your own as you go along, anyway, sometimes far removed from the piece that inspired you in the first place. I'm always trying to emulate Rochr in Bryce. And failing!

Thread: How Brave are you? | Forum: Bryce
I think this is the very earliest Bryce image I still have - it must date from no later than 1998, probably from 1997:
This is also an early piece from about the same time. I got into the habit of re-rendering this set-up with each new version of Bryce as it came out. This was with Bryce 3, maybe 1999? I had to simulate soft shadows, as they were still not a feature of Bryce at the time!
Again from about 1997/1998; I had this printed as a poster, about 3 feet by 4 feet, and very clever I thought I was, too. I imagined that, with the poster hanging up in my room, clearly visible to me, it was only a matter of time before the book and record publishers came knocking at my door to make me the next Chris Foss or Roger Dean....I'm still waiting, 13 years later...!
