No, I haven't yet. I'm basically giving it this weekend to compile a list of whats wrong in the image and will fix it on Monday morning. So far I've had the following comments: 1. The relief is too sudden (which I dont necessarily see as a big problem) 2. One person didn't like the sand...said it looked like concrete. My personal feelings: I personally dont think the island on the left has good texture and could stand to have more realistic leaves on my coconut trees throughout the ecosystem, but I'll have to find some bitmaps hopefully to alleviate this. I also may change the rock levees to have a bitmapped texture of stone instead of the procudural colors. It also needs a sense of scale...people somewhere...maybe in the water? Thanks for the comments.

Amorphium? I just got Deep Exploration 2 for converting...but if that doesn't work, I'll check that out. I wonder if 3D World had it as I've had a subscription for a few years. JC - Nope, it's above the ground plane. It's basically the sand leading out of the water. For now, I've basically made it non accurate but I will need to eventually be able to texture these. Bruno - DTM isn't a file format. It's just a term used for a Digital Terrain Model...aka a network of triangles that make up a terrain. I'm importing from a 3ds file though. I'm going to keep on trying. I appreciate the suggestions.

Yeah, I tried several materials. I believe it's just a poor import. Everything I make into a DTM (aka triangle network) in my model and then import it, it will not accept a material. All it is is a bunch of triangles connected. Should be THE easiest thing to import. I apply materials by clicking on the element and then double clicking the material preview and going from there. I have a few more importing options to try. There's one option I feel it may be. I'll report back.

It's a flat plane...it's basically where the sand will lie. It's flat. Imported from a 3ds, it's basically nothing but a line of triangles. I'll try changing the mapping.
Thanks for the replies guys. This has happened the day after I got my business to buy it for Viz :( EDIT: I tried the remapping to no avail. The surface can take an ecosystem though.

Interesting results. Has anyone done an outdoor scene? Only reason I ask is I never intend to use it for Poser, nor on interiors. It's strictly golf courses, outdoor scenes, ect. Thanks for the posts btw. Leads me in the right direction.

Wow. You guys are great!
That's odd it gave you an error. There must be something not exporting correctly.
To give you an idea of the final MicroStation model:
I dont have access to AutoCad. I can maybe find a way. Any other ideas for exporting?
Once again, you guys rock

I highly appreciate the responses. Below is a link to a typical model out of MicroStation. http://www.ryan-spaulding.com/gallina.dwg Thanks again! I look forward to hearing if there were problems.

Man, it's seriously bothering me that no one at any of 3 seperate boards bothers to answer my questions. :( Does no one import DWG's or render large images?
