hi, mr gorf!
you are not the first one to spend your time on this problem, and you wont be the last. wellcome to the club! as far as i know there is no "saner way", for each morph you create by moving vertices one by one on a "guess and test" base will work for a single pose only.
it requires a "higher end" poser! unfortunately the holders of poser don´t seem to care.....

hi acadia!
thanks for your quick answer, unfortunately this tut is a rather basic explanation of what body handles are. may i ask you to dig a little deeper in your treasury?

i think we have left this thread long ago, plus: it´s bedtime for me.....
i´ll contact you tomorrow, ok?

quote:"in fact poser 6 is just poser 4 with some plugins piggybacked on it."
well, let´s take a look at it from a different POV. i don´t know p4, but p5 is definitely and beyond any doubt the most unreliable and unstable software i ever ran into. all the updates have done little or nothing to change that. now, browsing this forum, you´ll hardly find a day without someone seeking help for p6(sr3!) making trouble.
accordingly both, the p5- as well as the p6 developing team, prooved themselves as being unable to write a properly working (professional?) program. that´s a fact. amen.
considering this, do you really expect them to be able to rewrite poser according to our needs? if yes: do you believe in faeries too? (pls accept my irony with goodwill. i don´t mean to be impolite, i just cannot resist.)

quote*:"... but its still crap compared to a properly rigged figure using industry standard tools."*
as you say, there´s two different standards on rigging characters. there´s gollum on the one hand, and there´s s3p on the other, and the only thing they have in common is the size of their feet.
still, i don´t think that eF wants poser to be more than it is. as long as people buy poser and poser stuff for their peach-sword-temple renders (and still ask for p7 and for hi-poly characters) eF is merrily collecting money and everybody´s happy!
sorry to say, but we won´t get what we ask for. at least not from eF or daz, that is.....

@ blackhearted
i wouldn´t count on poser to get any better. it is not the people loosing focus, i´d rather say poser went astray. what was meant to be a utility for illustrators turned to be a toy for hobbyists. i dare say that the majority of poser users does never touch the joint editor, let alone the setup room. they don´t want tools, the want toys - and content, of course. and if the customers don´t care, why should eF?
i am still on p5 because i couldn´t find a single improvement in p6 worth the money. but maybe they will spend some real work on p7 - 1500 euros, 2000...why not?
but i wouldn´t be surprised if poser 8 comes for free at daz together with the m4/v4-bundle.
i fear that poser has reached a dead end.....
sorry,
A.

me and my big mouth again....
i´ve stepped on your toes, tom, and i am sorry for that. i didn´t mean to, and i have no reason to. please forgive me.
english is only my second language, and unfortunately it happens again and again, that the most innocent word brings me into trouble...."be good", as i understand it, is simply a phrase of wishing well, like "farewell", " good night" or "enjoy your holidays". i did not mean it as:"...and now sit down, young man, and eat your porridge!" .....ok?ok.
you know, i never posted to an "art"-thread and actually i was your "1000+" to attract my attention.
there were three things i wanted to express:
my POV, of which i was (and am) sure, that the majority would accept it without a second guess. well, no problem so far...
what is so important about this art-thing? we create a little bit, buy a little bit, we look at each other´s images with envy or relief, we´re having a good time with this CG, right? we have a hobby and we enjoy it! isn´t that enough? isn´t it more than most people have? so why do we have to crown ourselves with this word "artist"?
we´ve had that theme a 1000+ times already. we know each other´s arguments and we know, that at some point someone gets a bit emotional. deja vu. for me it is like watching the same peanuts-episode again and again.
that´s it, tom!
everything cool?

QUOTE:"In all the years we've been here we've heard 1000+ interpretations of what "Art" is."
well, tom, here´s one more:
art, as i see it, is something genuine,
it is not undoable or reproduceable,
it is touching you by whatever means.
accordingly (and inevitably) art is something different for each of us, but in the end (using the words of juliet):
"that which we call a rose by any other word would smell as sweet."
so be good, folks, and enjoy your 2D and 3D-apps. i wish you all lots of endless nights spent in front of the screen, but please cut this - er - thread.
back to my hobby now...

thx for the quick answer!
would you kindly set up a quick shot of a simple six-facet-box with welded vertices and with this max crease angle set accordingly? please do me that favour.....
