SInce GNDA is sculpted from the Alyson 2 mesh, I don't see how she can become an Antonia morph. Even if Gabriel wanted to do it, wouldn't he have to start from scratch with the Antonia mesh and rig a whole new set of joint controls? I'm not sure I see the point.

If you're saying you'd like a morph to give Antonia something like GNDA's general curvature, that should be possible. I'm sure Gabriel would object if it was TOO exact a copy, though. If I remember right, somebody once took GND4 and with some minor alterations tried to sell it as his own creation.

Anastasia just told me she really doesn't mind showing off her body (and she hopes she's not pleasing only MEN). But it's December and it's a bit nippy. So she politely requests that somebody give her some clothes SOON!

To be fair, DAZ (and many other 3D sellers) offers an option to burn to CD and send your purchase by mail. It's expensive, but available to those who fear Bad Things will happen if they download from online stores.

Personally, I've bought hundreds of things from Rendo, Daz, RDNA and other 3D sites and never had a Bad Thing happen. Other than the item was not as nice as it seemed on the product page, that is!

Well, it's been days since the DAZ guy was here. To be honest there isn't much for him to respond to any more. The return on his investment of time and energy here is diminishing fast. So I'm unsubscribing at last.

I would just say that there is a very large segment of the Poser market that isn't interested in Genesis, isn't interested in Antonia (until the ability to morph her and clothe her develops a bit more, anyway), but do have an interest in what role DAZ will play in our hobby. Our large investments in V4/M4 all started with DAZ, after all. If DAZ becomes all Genesis all the time, that is of concern to us.

The Antonia thread has 11,500+ posts and counting. Surely she won't mind if we chat about Vicky and Daz to no effect over in this corner. We'll try to keep it down.

Giving something away now to generate paid purchases later is a well-established business practice. DAZ certainly didn't invent it. Like that ridiculously low-priced inkjet printer you bought that requires frequent and expensive ink cartridge replacements.  Like Poser Debut, which is intended to whet your appetite for essential features in the more expensive versions.

Randall, if you ever come back here... I've noticed that the new DAZ Poser Store (which is really just a search that filters out Genesis and other non-Poser goods)  doesn't include everything for Poser. In other words, I'll see a Poser-compatible item under the general New Stuff search but it's not in the Poser Store. Anyone who confines their interest to the Poser store isn't seeing everything they're supposed to see.

Renderosity has a DAZ forum,and I have seen threads moved there from this Poser forum. Let's not get all holier-than-thou about DAZ trying to "segregate" Poser users by establishing a Poser forum. Sometimes I think whatever DAZ does (or Smith Micro or Renderosity) somebody will be irked by it. We just might be the whiniest group on the Internet. (Speaking as one who has whined his fair share.)

Well, this thread has turned into exactly what that DAZ ambassador was trying to avoid, as any thread on this topic inevitably does. I wonder if he'd return if we give him some polite, direct questions not diluted by paragraph after paragraph of angst and outrage. I think he gets it by now that there are people here unhappy with DAZ. Let's make the questions clear and easy to respond to. Just a suggestion and my own opinion.

I think we're letting the DAZ guy off the hook with all the private chat he can't respond to, though he probably welcomes the break. Is there anything still unanswered we could put to Randall?

You mentioned that DAZ had made it a priority to issue documentation for its software. I will skip right past "It's about time" and just say "Thank you."

But I have a related suggestion. Might not DAZ put pressure on its vendors to tell customers how to use the prodiuct they just bought? The "Read Me" created by the installer usually links back to a DAZ page that thanks you for buying the product and tells you where to find the file(s) in your runtime. That's all.

Read Me pages that actually describe the use of the product and offer tips and tricks are few and far between. Is the dress superconforming? Are the morphs in the Body actor functional?  Is there a reason you supply no poses to change textures but instead require the user to go to the Material Room? And so on. A vendor should be required to offer at least a rudimentary "how-to".

The basic flaw in EULAs for digital content and software is that you don't see the EULA until after you've bought the product. In the case of software in a box, you don't see the EULA until after you've opened the box, at which time the vendor won't take it back (due to the slimy practice of copying the material off the disk and then asking for a refund). 

So you buy some digital content from DAZ or Rendo or anyone. Upon installing you read the EULA and find it too draconian for your taste. Too bad, you already bought it. Your options are to install and agree to the EULA or not to install. Most people don't even read EULA any more because they feel it doesn't matter what it says or how they feel about it. If they want to use the product they paid for, they have to click AGREE. So they click without reading.

A dilemma faced by many vendors over at DAZ. Some have gone the route of developing products for both V4 and V5 (as have a few vendors here). Not sure how many of these products were already in the pipeline for V4 and the vendor quickly added V5 compatibility. Others have hitched their wagon to V5 and don't offer V4 compatibility.

I suspect V5 will be fully (or at least mostly) functional in Poser eventually. But we're really talking about Genesis. V5 is just a body morph that DAZ decided would be called "V5" and have a lot of hype and promotion and bundles associated with it. As far as I can tell it's no different than the other Genesis morphs that have been released, just a slightly different body shape. 

And yes, unfortunately, when people start fighting and launching personal attacks, the mods will shut down this thread too. Maybe locked threads don't show up in the search, which is why you thought there was a need for a new one.

Also, a reason for "wrong number of vertices" is that by default everything in the universe is selected in Export, including the Ground. Why the Poser programmers thought anyone would want to export the Ground Plane along with their item is beyond me. But the Ground adds a few vertices to the Export and screws up your Import. As Mark said, the best way is to de-select the entire Universe and then select only the item(s) you want to Export.

Exporting and Importing morph targets is actually a very powerful tool and an easy way to make your own morphs. Not just of head and body morphs, but morphed props as well.

Unless this was a free pack, it's really the responsibility of the creator to repair the goof. If they have no interest in doing so, you have a legitimate complaint to make to the host site.
