Hi Family, Y'no? in another thread we were talking about how full our hard drives have become. I've had to purchase new ones to accomidate all the textures,Poses,Charecters, models, and tutorials,I've accumulated. I woud say about 80% of all that stuff I got from THIS SITE. Y'no how much I paid for it? NOT ONE RED CENT I say that to say this: "Jack, You Dont Owe Me An Explanation"! ( although I understand your need to defend yourself) It really never crossed my mind if You made money or not. This site Is a gold mine of recorces and other goodies, not to mention the friends I've made. You and Your staff provide an excellant environment that is Renderosity. For us all,Artists and lurkers alike,And all for free. There are some VERY talented individuals here. I may not be a great Graphic/3D artist(Yet) but I'm a better one than I was largely due to this site. And for that I am Gratefull. * sniffle* Hawkfyr

There's another way you can do it. take a regular old primitve "Cone" and stretch it an place it where you need it. then go into the materials editor and click the inverted triangle that gives you your shaders,(uppermost triangle in the editor) you'll see "normal","blend transparency","fuzzy", and "Light". select "Light" and play around with the transparency and coloring and stuff. This way gives you the effect you want but isolates it to that particular area of the scene and you wont be waiting till new years day for the renderto complete. so essentially it's an object and you have all the control over it as you would with any other object. Hope this helps Hawwkfyr

Thats too bad TracyAnn, BTW you dont have to go into the DTE to change the Mapping Mode. Did you try "Parametric" or Parametric scaled" as your mapping mode? Also this is a good tutorial page for Bryce users http://petersharpe.com/Tutorials.htm The very first tutorial an this page "Dressing up the DXF" Shows how to make your own textures in Photoshop or other 2d graphics program, I've tried it and it works, You have to do "Mask" rendering ,then "Paint" it in Photoshop. Dont give up yet, at least tryi this first. Good Luck Hawkfyr

Thread: Sleeping Giant repost | Forum: Bryce
Hi all, Thats exactly what I was using the castle for Ghostofmacbeth, During the render I thought maybe a lighthouse on his right ankle to show scale, the other version of this image, http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?ForumID=107&Form.ShowMessage=46509 did'nt have anything at all to suggest scale, I also agree with the trees and grassy texture on the giant too. I worked long and hard on that particular texture. I was prepared for the "get rid of the castle" replies Autoloader, and I will, If you take a look at the first version(link above)you see a drastic change from the giants texture which was my main concern, the castle was really just an after thought to suggest scale. any other suggestions about how to achieve that would be welcomed, If I need to do it at all. Now that you mention it TracyAnn , I prolly should drop the specularity down a bit on the terrains. Oh By the way The giant was in fact done in Poser 3.1 I'm waiting to start hearing about a patch for Poser 4 before purchasing it. Thank you all for the great replies an suggestions. There are a couple of possibilities, usually when I try this type of mapping I select "Parametric" or parametric scaled. It looks to me that this is a 2d pic that was made in another program(like Photoshop) if it's not, the you may have to delve deeper into the DTE thats right the dreaded Deep Teexture editor. (not really It's fun to play in)being a very powerfull tool ,subtle and drastic changes can be made there. try opening the 3 dilogs in the DTE "Noise" "Phase" and "filter". notice the 1D,2D, and 3D, dots at the bottom of the dialogs. if it says 1D or 2D that May be your prollem, click the 3D dot and select "Paremetric" as your mapping mode. hope this helps Good luck Please reply either way Thanx Hawkfyr

Thread: Help on making textures for bryce (or anything) | Forum: Bryce
I tried that tutorial a long time ago.and I think with the paremetric mapping mode it works fine or do it twice one mask for top and one for bottom of model then in the texture editor hold ctrl while selecting the dot in the second column and it should map it twice column 1 for bottom column 2 for top. I would say try the tut. and maybe wright Peter directly if you have prollems. Good luck

On the sky and fog pallet, turn atmosphere off from the dropdown menu (color bar will turn blue) change the color picker to black. then disable sunlight.

Hmm... yeah it doesnt sound good.. y'no You can make some really great space scenes in bryce yourself ,there are plenty of tutorials (theres actually a good one on the bryce cd itself) or on the content cd if you have bryce 4, you may very well be able to make one better than the image your trying to import. copy and patse this url into your browser to see a quicky one I did. http://www.geocities.com/hawkfyr/space.html or go here for my website http://www.geocities.com/hawkfyr/index.html Good luck arabinowitz Hawkfyr
