The textures are now in Freestuff. Commercial use allowed. Enjoy - and if you can give me feedback, especially things to improve, thank you in advance.

Thread: OT - British actors in US shows | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - On a more general level, each town/city has a distinct accent, most of which will be part of a wider area, so there are definite starting points for non Brits to work on. For example, Sean Bean's natural accent is a Sheffield variant, same as mine. They form part of the Yorkshire accents, which are a subset of Northern accents. Quite a lot different from the folks down South.
Ah, sithee! Ah'm Leeds, missen. Though I lived on the Rotherham/Barnsley border for around 10 years before flitting.
The Barnsley accent took me some time to get used to.

Never mind Dick Vav Dyke - Aussie Russell Crowe's accent in Robin Hood wanders all over the shop. A pity, because he did rather well in Master & Commander.
But Brits playing Americans...
I noticed Chris Ecclestone (Cracker, Doctor Who) playing an American in Amelia, though that's a film.
Jamie Bamber (Apollo in the Battlestar Galactica revamp) and James Callis (Balthar) are both Brits, though Bamber's dad is American and Callis didn't alter his accent (except when he briefly put on a Yorkshire accent in one episode - good lad!).
Damian Lewis (Major Winters in Band of Brothers, lead in Life) is a Brit.
Tim Roth (Lie to Me) often employs an American accent, though just as often uses a British one. Can't remember what he uses in that show.
Do we claim Kiefer Sutherland (24)? He was born in London and has a Brit passport...

This looks good (and the price looks great):

I don't have this model, but it's more recent and a third of the price of the now rather elderly American Hog from DAZ, which I do have. Couple of rave reviews - I think this is the one for you.
Vanishing Point used to have some very nice bikes, including classic Harleys and Indians. I got some of them before Vanishing Point sold content to Renderosity. I hope they'll eventually appear under the Renderosity Publishing tag, but I think they were licensed models, so maybe not. I only they'd ever released their Vincent Black Shadow in Poser format.
Adh3d, one of my favourite vendors, has a Second World War Harley WLA in his store ( http://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/index.php?vendor=adh3d ), along with a BMW R75 and sidecar.
And, as a Brit, I have to highlight the Classic Bikes at DAZ, based on streetfighters like the legendary Triumph Bonneville.
But Nortons and Harleys and Greaveses and Indians won't do, cause they don't have a soul like a Vincent '52 (Richard Thompson, 1952 Vincent Black Lightning)

I agree with everyone else that Omni's morphing sword looks great - pure fantasy, and it looks like a lot of fun to use. This and several other Omni products have been sitting on my wishlist for far too long.

I've been wondering if Alice would be up for sale again. But I've spent my Poser budget for this month, so I'll have to hope she's still available in a fortnight.

Thread: Tiling textures | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
But even if it cuts off a good number of DAZ Studio people, I'm reluctant to go the whole hog and create a full, painted texture map because I think it'll lose one of the nicest parts of tiling textures - the ability to render in extreme close-up without overstretching your system.
The attached image was rendered in PP2010 with IDL (using IDL Studio), GC and displacement. Since the tiles are 512x512 pixels, at a UV scale of 0.1, that's the equivalent of a 5120x5120 pixel texture (if this works the way I think it does - an assumption not always accurate in Poser).
Meanwhile, the Poser version is about ready to load into freestuff. Is anyone willing to test it for me before I do so? If so, please send me your email address via site mail, and I'll send you the zip.
You'l need P6+. While having Powerage's Strapped Suit is an advantage, it isn't necessary, as I'm also including all the base tiling textures as single materials to apply to other models.
(Testing a freebie? Yes, please. This will be my first content upload, and I'm in training to become a vendor eventualy. I want this to look good, be packaged right, be nice and easy to use. In short, I want it to be professional.)

Thread: OT: How much memory do you have and how does it help you with Poser? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Desktop: Quad 2.5Ghz processors, 8Gb RAM, 1Gb Nvidia graphics card, Win 7 Pro 64-bit.
Laptop: i5 processors, 4Gb RAM, 1Gb Nvidia graphics Card, Win 7 Home 64-bit.
These days I almost invariably use PP2010 over any older version of Poser. I found the 64-bit OS made a huge difference to render times when I upgraded to it on the desktop earlier this year (previously it was running Vista Home, and took nearly 20 minutes just to boot up).
Haven't noticed much difference on older Posers, but I only keep P5, P7 and P8 installed for compatibility testing.
I only have PP2010 installed on the laptop, with a mirror of my desktop's runtimes. If anything, it runs faster than the desktop, which I attribute to it being a new, clean machine, whereas the desktop is now a couple of years old and stuffed with my usual digital clutter.

Thread: How to make body shape follow clothes morphing? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Usually people do this the other way around - morph V4 and expect the shirt to follow. It's an effect some people call 'superconforming'.
It you're doing it the standard way, then both meshes need the same morph (if your shirt doesn't have the morph you want, you could try to add it with Wardrtobe Wizard, which is built in to P8, or with Dimension 3D's Morphing Clothes, available here on Renterosity - http://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/index.php?ViewProduct=64629&vendor=288865 )
You'd load your V4, apply the morph and make sure V4 is currently selected when you load the shirt. The shirt picks up the morph from V4 when it's loaded; you can then conform it as normal.
Note that V4 must be the currently selected figure when you load the clothing for this to work. If you want to load a shirt and pants, for instance, select V4, load the shirt, conform it. Then slect V4 again, load the pants, conform them - don't leave the shirt as your selected figure when you load the pants.
This is how clothing conforms to V4 Elite shapes, Girl 4 and A4, for example (all the new generation of DAZ women are morphs of V4, not new models - it makes sharing clthing and textures between them as easy as pie - especially if you have Morphing Clothes).
However, for this to work in reverse (load clothing, apply morph, load V4 and have her pick up the morph), I think the morph channel would need to be built into V4's CR2. This is not the case by default - mosr of V4's morphs are injections you apply after loading the mesh.
You can apply them and resave V4 to your library very easily, though. Simply load V4, inject the morphs you want in her permanently, and resave her to your library under a different name (V4 Fully Loaded, perhaps).
Theoretically, if you have the shirt with appropriate morph applied selected, then load V4 Fully Loaded, V4 should pick up and apply the morph.
I say theoreticalt because I've never tried doing it this way round, and don't currently have time to test the concept. I may get a chance this evening.

Thanks Paul.
Your mention of exports makes me wonder whether these tiling textures would work in DAZ Studio.
I guess I ought to download it and find out. While these particular textures are intended to be freebies, I do evenually want to start making some commercial ones, so I shouldn't ignore Studio users.

Thank you. I've been practising a bit, and tweaking those textures until I'm happy with them - but after more than 6 years using Poser, it's about time I got round to making my own textures.

Thread: Miki 3.0 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - I really like Miki2 and expected it to be difficult for SM to top her, not technically, but in the fun factor dept.
And that, I think, is why we like Miki so much. She's just so much fun to use.
A little play majes me think that Miki 3 is also fun, although much of my playing this morning has been focussing on differences with Miki2, and on exploring the bulbous joints. I'll post more on these later.
I'd add that P8 Alyson and Ryan are perhaps even more fun than Miki 2. Nice to see some of the new expressions (absolutely the most fun feature of the P8 figures IMO) have equivalents with Miki 3.

Bog standard pose, no morphs, plus the new bike, which isn't something I'd usually buy but is a nice freebie.
Lit with IDL Studio.
