I just got an email from Renderosity saying that they implemented a new mailing system and that it went fubar, so that's what this was. They said they disabled the new system, so hopefully we won't get something like this again.
That's a pretty big glitch to not have caught it earlier in testing, assuming there was testing.

In my test scene, the primary light points directly at the urn (used Point At) and casts the shadow on the wall.
The relevant dials for it are as follows:
xScale 349%
yScale 582%
scale 211%
intensity 250%
xtran 0.000
ytran 8.000
ztran 21.000
The other 2 area lights in my scene are very low intensity and were just for side key lighting.
Lee
Cool...thanks! I'll test it out when I get a chance.

Hi Doc000! I just ran a quick test in Poser Pro 11 using 3 area lights. They do work in FireFly.
The sample scene I set up generated soft and moderately dark shadows.
Try setting the intensity of your area light(s) higher and also scale them larger to get soft shadows while maintaining relative brightness. Move it/them further or closer to the objects you want lit to further "tune" the intensity and/or softness of the shadows.
The Shadow dial doesn't do anything that I can tell with respect to area lights. I believe you need to adjust the area light intensity and size of the area light.
It's been a while since I've rendered with Firefly, so you might want to start with a simple scene using my suggestions to see how it works.
I'm sure others with more experience and knowledge will come along with a lot more useful information.
Hope this helps some!
Lee!
When you mention scaling the light, were you adjusting the actual scale settings on the light? And since these use ray traced shadows, did you adjust the settings at all or just go with the defaults? (And the image you posted is the look I'm trying to achieve.)

I've had this happen before on some figures (mostly V3 and that whole generation of figures). I usually just re-inject the morph(s) and that fixes it.
Thread: How do I get rid of this strange glitch in the background? | Forum: Poser 11 / Poser Pro 11 OFFICIAL Technical
It's either a camera or light. I use a pre-made light set with lots of global lighting for when I'm setting up a scene so that everything is brightly lit and I can what the heck I'm doing, and your screenshot looks exactly like what some of the lights look like in the preview window after loading that light set. As long as whatever it is doesn't render, I wouldn't worry aobut it.

Ignore previous post ... sometimes I just need to refresh my memory and my research. Great idea!
Yeah, sorry...I probably should have been more clear...hehe.
I load something and then click the Figure menu, Skinning Method, and change it to Poser Unimesh. I found that it fixes a whole lot of rendering issues, like fixing some AO oddities on some models.
I was just curious if maybe there was a setting in some preference file I could edit to automatically load things with Unimesh sub-division.
Thread: Poser 11.2 Update...is it out for download now? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL

Because the program needs to change some things at base-level, and for that an update isn't enough. Remember that the very registration server is changing, and the old one will stop working - Rendo isn't to blame for this, SM is the one that instated the phone-home system for Poser 11.
The installer will ask you first if you want to uninstall the previous one, but if you refuse it will just shut down. Your old Poser 11 will stop working anyway because it won't be able to phone home - the "number" has changed, so to say.
OK, can someone clarify this for me, since everybody keeps mentioning it? I don't recall my Poser ever doing this "phone home" thing, unless it's so far in the background that I just don't notice it. In fact, I'm pretty sure I've used it a few times when my DSL was down, and I had no internet connection.

To clarify: this installation REQUIRES an uninstall of previous versions. If you have Poser installed, the new version will uninstall it for you - but if you don't, don't bother installing the old one, go straight to the new installer.
OK, that just sent my panic levels through the roof. I HATE updating programs that work perfectly fine right now. Why the hell does the whole thing need to be uninstalled.?
Do we need to back up stuff? If so, which stuff should we be backing up?
Thanks Rendo...you just shot my stress level sky high.
Thread: Poser Pro 11.2 Update Questions | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
In addition to the above questions, I have one:
About this new Download Manager... I already have the Smith Micro Download Manager installed. Do I need to uninstall the old one, or can I use it to patch, or will the new one update the old one, or...?
The email that was sent out is extremely vague about all of this.
Thread: pz3. file suddenly won't save and causes Poser to crash | Forum: Poser 11 / Poser Pro 11 OFFICIAL Technical
I have one conforming item I sometimes use that will cause that exact error every single time. The first time I save the scene with that object, it saves fine. But if I load the scene again after having shut down Poser and restarted, I will get that error message the next time I try to save that scene. I've tried downloading a fresh copy of the files, but the problem still persists, so I have no idea what's causing it.
Basically, when I get the error message, I just keep clicking on OK and it eventually saves. Then I turn off the PMD in preferences, save the scene again with a different name and no error message, then restart Poser. Open up the non-PMD saved file, turn on PMD, then save the scene again. Usually, that will correct the problem and stop giving the error message on a save. Sometimes it won't.
It's definitely an issue with the PMD. Saving the scene without PMD won't give the error message, but will give you a huge file.

First of all...way too clicky. You've made it necessary to make multiple clicks to do things that used to only take one. That's awful design.
Secondly, can you PLEASE put back the drop down menu of merchants? Now if I want to find a specific merchant, I actually have to use the search function or open a freakin' huge page that lists ALL mechants. Once again, awful design.
Was this thing even beta tested with actual users? I don't remember seeing any sort of notification that this was happening.
Thread: EASTER 2018 GRAB BAG | Forum: MarketPlace Customers
I'm strictly a Poser user as well. I bought something yesterday and the grab bag gave me something I could use. I bought something this morning and got something only for Studio.
The sad thing is, the Studio product I received ALSO COMES IN A POSER VERSION. Unfortunately, I'm not given the choice of which one I prefer.
I do appreciate giveaways like this, but there's got to be a better way to do it. Either there needs to be some sort of preference setting that allows customers to say whether they prefer Poser or DS stuff only (or both), or vendors should only offer things that can be used by all.

Thread: We want your feedback!! | Forum: Community Center

To get the box to go close once you post a message, you just click on the the "Feedback" button again and it will close back down.
You miss the point completely. You still have that big green button on every page you visit, which is the annoying part, even AFTER you give feedback. If the script was written correctly, it would completely disappear after you use it.
Thread: We want your feedback!! | Forum: Community Center
My feedback was to not put feedback scripts on your website.
Seriously, that crap is annoying. Even after providing feedback, the button won't go away. I ended up having to manually block the script and its css with AdBlockPlus to get rid of it.
If you want people to give you feedback, don't be intrusive about it. Send out an email with a link to a page where you can give feedback or something. Overlay scripts on every page do nothing but annoy customers.
