Thread: Dawn versus V4 or versus V6 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Biggest advantage with Dawn - since most vendors have jumped on the bandwagon I am not tempted to buy anything. I have nothing against a new model, just too much investment in getting V4 to work well, not willing to start over.

Thread: Carrara 8.5 Released | Forum: Carrara
It's funny, having Poser, Poser Pro, Daz Studio and Carrara ... I have always been amazed at the value proposition of Carrara compared to other entry level apps. I appreciate the robust tool set coupled to the ability to use Poser and Daz content. I think it's actuallly pretty cheap on a value for money scale.
But that's just me. I spent more taking my wife to dinner Saturday than the upgrade cost, and the upgrade will last me an awful lot longer.
Cheers!

I got the $171 price too, put in a ticket, tried a few more times and, by DAZ magic, suddenly the discount kicked in. No idea what did it.
I suggest going in and out a couple of times, and definitely start the check out, as it was never right in my shopping cart.
What a website.

Thread: Carrara 8.5 Released | Forum: Carrara
Had to try several times to get the discount for owning Carrara 8 to work. Finally did, got the update for $80 +/- (I re-upped for platinum club which I had let lapse, and caught up on a bunch of 1.99 items). I am ok with the deal for the upgrade.

Quote - > Quote - They're is not a spelling of the word there. It is a contraction of two words, they and are. So there.
WHich, as they're both usually pronounced the same, does not change the correctness of my error count.
(Trade you my TS1000 for your box. Even throw in the cassette player for storage.)

OK ... I can see two spellings - there, and their. What is the third spelling of the word?
(I still have my Radio Shack Tandy 3000, and the cassette player, and an old 19" RCA TV for a monitor. That 80286 is a little too fast for my liking, and cassette tapes are becoming difficult to source.)

Quote - > Quote - So you have to give them exact presets they can use and build upon. Like dialing "The Girl" or "Aiko" for toon/manga styles, they need various realistic characters that let them achieve true realism with a single dial spin.
I see this, or something similar, always posted by someone that feels they're "elevated" above the rest and it's nothing but an insult to the average user, that does not fall into that category.
And those same ones, when they do post a render, it's usually someone else's morph of V4, sometimes not even dialed.
True realism in a 3d medium is only an illusion that can never be obtained. Let's quit injecting that into every discussion of the true poser figures. It has no place in poser or any other 3d approximation of reality.
Doric.
You know you're over the target when they start shooting back. I have never known the writer of the original quote to insult the average user and find these comments defamous.

BTW, this is what a real pro (HowieFarkes) can do with Carrara in terms of realistic terrain/vegetation:
