Sadly, my beloved DreamweaverMX 2004 is also no longer supported by Adobe. I found this out when I wanted to reinstall it to my new Windows 8 computer. Instead, Adobe offered me GoLive from the free CS2 site.
Thread: Where do you like watch video tutorials? | Forum: Vue
Hi Vladimir - personally, I have no preference as to where I watch your tutorials. I just like to watch them - period. However, I think if I were you, I'd keep them at Geek-at-Play. I think people have gotten used to watching them there at your site. I know I tend to go there and to your GaP forum for updates. And, of course, it's helpful when you post update notices here and at Cornucopia.
But keeping them at GaP would keep them intact in one central spot.

Thread: how can I make genesis work in vue from poser | Forum: Vue
Quote - This is some lines from genesis PZ3. you can see why vue mightn't like it.
And what is with those dollar signs?? Probably represents how much I have spent at daz over the years. (which is a lot less these days since genesis arrived on the scene)
data com.daz3d.dson.Name 0 0 "Genesis"
data com.daz3d.dson.UsedUVsCount 0 0 "1"
data com.daz3d.dson.UVSetMat_0 0 0 "$$Rest$$"
data com.daz3d.dson.NodeUri 0 0 "/data/DAZ%203D/Genesis/Base/Genesis.dsf#Genesis"
data com.daz3d.dson.SkinUri 0 0 "/data/DAZ%203D/Genesis/Base/Genesis.dsf#SkinBinding"
data com.daz3d.dson.GeomGroup 0 0 null
data com.daz3d.dson.GeometryUri 0 0 "/data/DAZ%203D/Genesis/Base/Genesis.dsf#geometry"
data com.daz3d.dson.NodeType 0 0 "Figure"
data com.daz3d.dson.UVSet_0 0 0 "/data/DAZ%203D/Genesis/Base/UV%20Sets/DAZ%203D/GenePool/Michael%205.dsf#Michael%205"
I am taking a wild guess here (and I mean very wild) that the $$ signs have something to do with spacing
Thread: Importing Content from Previous Versions | Forum: Vue
Quote - Checked resent posts on the Eon forum and a couple of people said that they copy their entire Vue 9 library into the Vue 10 library and tell it not to overwrite. That way all their content is in one library. That would be the ideal, but I want to be sure this won't cause problems. Has anyone here tried that?
I think this method should work just fine too. This way, you'd retain the most recent version of an object/material/atmosphere etc. but still add items you have purchased and placed in your Vue 9 library.

Quote - Mari-Anne, thanks for the advice. If I understand you correctly, you have your three libraries set up basically like Poser runtimes. How do I set it up so that Vue 10 will access my Vue 9 library? I only know how to add individual collections, not the entire library.
I have been adding each library individually, i.e. I open the Material library in Vue 10 and there, I click to add a new Collection and then browse to the Vue 9 library. Then I repeat the same procedure for the Object library, Atmosphere library, etc.

What I have done in the past (don't know if this is the best way, tho) with versions dating back to Vue 7 is to create a "Vue Combo" folder where I keep all versions mixed together except the two most recent ones. Each time there is a new version, I let the newest addition override the files with the same names from the previous versions. However, I also keep a backup copy of the in-tact old library for each version.
If I have bought something in the older version (don't always remember which ones), I'll notice that it is for an older version when I try to use it and can then reset my Cornucopia account and thus re-download a copy, this time for the newest version.
With this method, I always have three libraries showing up in my content - e.g.: Vue 11 Library, Vue 10.5 Library and Vue Combo Library.
Hope that doesn't sound too confusing. It has worked great for me so far.

Thank you, Vladimir. Grabbed them as quickly as I could. What a treasure trove of information!!
Thread: Vue 11 Full Release is here | Forum: Vue
After a couple of attempts, I finally downloaded and installed the Vue 11 Pro file. However, when I try to run Vue 11 Infinite I get an installation error message, and when I check the installation log, this is the message:
[Wed Nov 07 09:49:00 2012] [Info] -> The installer failed to set proper access rights on folder C:/Users/Mari-Anne Ennor/Documents/e-on software/Vue 11 Infinite/Objects/Vehicles/Aquatic: The current user is not allowed to create new files.
I think it's strange that only the Aquatic folder is affected. Does anyone know how I set access rights? I've never had this problem with any of the previous Vue versions.

I had 92% of the Pro file downloaded and then the site apparently went down again - yikes!!
Thread: Where does stuff go in DS4 Pro? | Forum: DAZ|Studio
I just wanted to add that if you have been using Daz Studio 3.x and have a separate Content directory for Gen3 and Gen4 content, you can do what I am doing.
I first unzip my Gen3/4 content (that isn't specifically intended for Daz Studio 4) into a temporary folder. Then I install it to my C:DAZ>Studio>Content folder (where I have my Runtime); open up Daz Studio 3 and categorize the new content there. Finally, I open Daz Studio 4Pro and Migrate Old Content Database. That way, the new content nicely appears already Categorized in both Daz Studio 3 and Daz 4Pro (I use Category view in both programs).
For Genesis and all content designed for Daz Studio 4 and above, I use the method posted by Mishamcm.
Thread: How to handle new 4.5 content | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Quote - that's right mari-anne it's an auto uninstall and reinstall for any update to any version of daz it seems complicated but really they managed to take the thinking out of it. the worst you may have to think about is " do you want to keep the mapped directories ?" but that if you have extra directories should always be a yes lol.
OK - thanks, that sounds easy enough.
Thread: How to handle new 4.5 content | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Quote - Ah, right - there's an uninstaller for the base content in Start>All Programs>DAZ 3D>DAZStudio4>Installed DS Content, though I thought it was removed automatically - certainly the DSF version have gone from my system.
So if I understand you correctly, there's basically nothing we need to do - whatever interaction that is necessary between the old file system/format & the new, it'll happen automatically during the install process? And we don't need to worry about changing anything in the Content Directory Manager > Current Directories because My Library will remain in tact (other than change of file extension)?
Thread: How to handle new 4.5 content | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Quote - I'm not sure what you mean - the only content that changes is the basic stuff (Genesis and the included clothes, which are now in .duf instead of .dsf in the People folder). If you go back to the release version, which will be a fiddle and will mean losing your settings, you will get the original versions of the files back. other items will not be removed and so will work as usual*, though you should be aware that .daz files (and the .dso and so on files in the data folder) will not be backward comatible if you save scenes that way - using .duf scene files, however, although those won't open in DS 4.0 they won't break your existing .daz files. Note that some content will give a Duplicate IDs error. This isn't fatal, and I do have a script that will fix it, in most cases, when I geta round to uploading it.
Maybe I am making it more complicated than it needs to be. Seems to me I read somewhere we should uninstall "the original Daz 4 content and replace it with the new 4.5 content." I would have no idea how to separate the "original" content from all the stuff I've installed since Genesis was first introduced. I.e. I am sure I could figure it out, but it seems like a lot of work.
So are you saying that when we install the new Release Candidate, its content will just merge with the existing My Library?
