Hi everyone.
I always assigned the textures using the simple tab. Sometimes I would browse thought a half dozen or more and see how they looked in the preview window before deciding which one I was going to use.
Once I figured out which one I was going to use, I'd go to the Advanced window and do the settings.
This seems much harder to do than the old way. It's like Windows, they keep taking things that were easy to do and making them harder.
But I'm working on it, I haven't succeeded, yet I just started trying to follow the instructions.
It was so easy before, I'm a "just for fun animator", I like to do animated jokes etc. and I do everything in Preview mode, I was an Illustrator and Graphic Designer as well as a Photographer as a trade, I'm retired and 83.
Actually rendering a clip of 3 or 4 hundred frames is just too slow to be practical. And the truth is that the quick rendered modes (which are still very slow) don't look nearly as good and the preview image.
I do every thing at large sizes, so I can show them full screen, now at UHD settings, and when finished they look like the rendered image pretty much in a fraction of the rendering time. One frame is practically instantaneous, in Preview, instead of taking 10 or 15 minutes or more.
I've sometimes done single clips with voice that are a thousand frames long, no way I'm going to do a real render on that.
Especially when I see it done and want to change things in it.
I posted comparison photos way back showing my Preview images next to the Rendered images done much smaller and then put them side by side at the same size. Sometimes the Preview images looked better.
The only real weakness is the shadow handling of the Preview images, many times I just turn off shadows, but I've gotten rid of most of the problems.
Now I'm interested in how much faster Poser 12 will be doing the same tasks. Having something 6,000 frames long would be a just too long to do rendered, I'm not Hollywood.
And doing them a full size and high resolutions I can't even image.
Anyway, if I can figure out how to load my textures and I usually use my textures for everything clothes props etc. I can see it's going to be more time-consuming than using Poser 11.
I may do what I have been doing, applying all the textures in Poser 11 and then moving the components to Poser 12 to put it together and animate it.
By the way I started out with Poser 3 or 4 I really can't remember which anymore.
Thanks again for the help.
Mike

Thanks, I'll tryout both of these tomorrow.
I have to say, I've been working most today and didn't get anywhere.
I did try dragging in things from explorer, but I must not have been doing it right.
This is hard after doing it the same way for many years.
Things like tinting texture and what have you I've figured out, though it's a little harder to do that the old simple way.
It would have been nice if they had kept the old way for the people who have been doing it for years.

I'll do that, I'm happy to report that it hasn't crashed once since I went back to the previous version.

Thread: Why are my eyebrows brown? | Forum: Poser 11 / Poser Pro 11 OFFICIAL Technical
The model is Jessie and the setting are more of less out of the box, I've had this before so why are the colors on the eyebrows affected and not the rest of the image. I've never been able to figure it out but when it happens nothing will change the way it looks, I just thought this example that shows other dark gray to black colors right next to the one that changed show how weird it is. I just thought, I wonder what happens if I change the eyebrows to red or something, will they still be different from the artwork. I'm betting not, I only run into this with black, things that are supposed to be black come out medium brown instead.

Well it won't let me add anything, so I want to say that I moved the lights around etc. and nothing I did have any effect on the way the brows look.

Thread: How do I get rid of the message missing file when I load some files? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hi, I finally got it working.
I had to install everything one class at a time via separate install files as I did from the Smith Micro downloader. That let me stipulate that the material was to be installed to the Runtime directory in the Poser 11 folder. Once I did that I was able to select them in Poser and have them show on the menu.
All they would have to do to fix this it let you chose where to install the update for the content during the process.

Thread: How do I get rid of the message missing file when I load some files? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hi, I looked online to see if I could find some info, I see that many people are having the same issues, I thought it was just me. I'm going to start over in the morning.
I'm looking for some good instructions that tell me exactly how and where to install the components.
I installed the Program, on drive D then when I installed the Content it said it was going to install in the default location. I did not have any option to tell it where that was going to be.
When I opened the program none of the content was in Poser.
I installed an old runtime but not surprisingly many ".Obj files" etc were missing.
I want to know how to do a new install and have the content in or connected to Poser so that all the new content is available!
This was all working fine until the update. I'm installing on the latest Windows 10 Pro.
Thanks
Mike

Thread: How do I get rid of the message missing file when I load some files? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hi, again.
I tried to find where the files ended up, but I didn't have any luck with the searching.
I placed one of my back-up runtimes in the D:Poser Runtime directory and it showed up in Poser as Poser in the Runtime list.
I think that everything is pretty much in place I'm going to go through my saved files again and see what connects but it's working.
I'd still like to know where it did install the content files, I could merge then into the Runtime and see it there are ones that are missing. Last time not all the lights were there. I think this was easier when I was not 81!
I didn't think of searching for Poser Content? I'll try that.

Hi, I'm back...
I have reinstalled Poser and Poser Support files the basic install is fine everything works great, but now I get back to my problem, I believe where I got off before. I installed my support files I saw all the files being installed but they are not in the Runtime directory.
Only a few basic files are installed and they are on drive C.
It gave me no options as to where to install the support files which I wanted in the Runtime in the D:PoserRuntime.
It did place Poser in the directory I indicated D:Poser If I reinstall the support files again how do I get it to put them in the logical place, or at least figure out where they are? I'll start searching when I get done typing this.
I always hate installing poser because it won't just let you specify an address for your support files and its own runtime.
All I got was a button that I couldn't uncheck. No Option to select an address.
PS, I notice that this forum delets puncuation like backslants etc?

Hi, Thanks for the help.
I found the file in Poser 14 Pro.
When I placed the file and directed it to the location a cylinder with a Texture on it appeared. The texture was what was missing.
I'm getting some other things like that show an error even when I open a new window, I think I will clean it out and start from scratch after backing up my files.
I started to have problems when I updated from 11 to 11 Pro. I must have screwed it up somehow.

Thread: Poser 11.2 - Upgrade or not? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hi
For anyone having the problem I did with it insisting that it use the Runtime in the User folder, (I did tell it to put the stuff in the Poser folder but it didn't) I just added the Runtime in the Poser folder as an option in the Poser Library. It shows only that Runtime when you have it set up that way so it doesnt make the screen busier.
So far everything is working OK I don't see a lot of differences but some of the UI is a little different.
I've opened a lot of my old files and a few of them don't work but 98% of them do, I just deleted the ones that don't. If I find something imortant that I want to keep I'll try harder.

Hi
I can see the stuff pretty well on my 3440 by 1440 monitor at 124% without the interface getting in the way. But I do think I'll try 133%

Thread: Poser 11.2 - Upgrade or not? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hi
Well it upgraded to Poser Pro and I finally got it to use the Runtim in the Poser directory.
Be careful installing the optional content, a lot of it just takes you to a page to buy things in Poser not actual content, I think I'm going to start over and be more selective from the start.
I would have preferred to leave the old install but it forced me to uninstall it in order to go ahead even though I was installing to a new directory.
It wants to put your Runtime in your Users folder on C: no matter what you do.
So I have some work to do before I can open my old files in it.
