Count me in. If anyone has any question about the potential and future of Hexagon version 2, due out mid-April, they should visit the blog at http://hexablog.eovia.com/ and check out the displacement videos and other goodies. Then, of course, the Eovia site showing Hex 2 features at http://www.eovia.com

Thread: A HEXAGON forum here at Renderosity? | Forum: 3D Modeling
Jcleaver says...
"Polls are fine; but unless Eovia3d.net is tied to Renderosity; what good is the poll? Any discussion should be here, so that the Renderosity people might see it."
Eovia3dnet forum has an option to start a poll. Something not available on this forum as far as I can tell. The idea of putting the option at Eovia3d.net was to let those people know that if there was interest here at Renderosity (according to Teyon) there could be a forum here for Hexagon. This is not warfare... it is a community of people who have similar interests... 3D art.
According to Shonner...
"Eovia3d members are largely French and don't use Renderosity all that much, if at all. It's like telling Martians that believe everything is flat how round the Earth is."
Yes, the Eovia3d members are predominanty French. Eovia is a French company. I have no prejudices against the French... these guys are making a fine product and also have taken on one that was going nowhere and turned it into something pretty cool. It seems to be popular at Renderosity... it's called Carrara.

There's a poll going on over at eovia3d.net to see what interest there is in trying to get a Hexagon forum at Renderosity.

Thread: Hexagon 2 | Forum: 3D Modeling
Not sure where to post this, but was wondering when or if Renderosity was going to create a software forum for Hexagon. So far it seems as though Renderosity is ignoring this software, which in version 2 looks like a major contender to me.
I definitely plan to upgrade to Hexagon 2, and am definitely imressed with what Eovia is doing with this one.

Thread: Poser OBJ Exporter (to Rhino) from eFrontier | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I've had and used that for a while.
Maybe Objto3DM has been upgraded, but as far as I can tell, you can not edit the file in Rhino without a conversion that produces zilliions of facets once you open it. So, the file is not really a nurbs or .3dm file when it comes in to Rhino.
It looks like the current beta on Rhino says it will edit imported meshes (as they are) - will have to try that.
thanks

Thread: Coupla questions (or more) | Forum: Carrara
Thread: Lighting question | Forum: Carrara
Like renderer said, it was a light from the left of the object. All objects (including the head) are set to cast shadows.
What made a difference was when I set the light to the left to cast a shadow and intensified the shadow to nearly 100% -the "light leak" disappeared.
I know it is "unnatural" to have lights without shadows, but I think an overabundance of criss-crossing shadows is distracting. Can't figure why a light casting a shadow would make a difference when the objects are all set up to cast shadows... strange.

Thread: Hexagon and graphic card - recommendations | Forum: Carrara
Thanks for the information and advice.
I have installed the (Nvidia) PNY Verto AGP8X GeForce FX 5700VE, 256mb DDR.
Works fine.... Hexagon and Poser 6 both like it.
later,
Nate.

Thread: Reusing an .obj file (re-"clothifying" it)??? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Good ideas... however, I need to keep all of the simulations and dyn files... some of these are animation sequences that use the same figure(s) and props that will be linked together. Having dug through the manual, I guess I found my answer... basically, "no." The same object (even if you rename it in poser) can only be attached to one simulation at a time. So the answer must be to do what I did. Find the original .obj file or prop file and save it under a new name and re-import that new re-named object into Poser. Guess I will have do that until something better comes up. Thanks for the help.

Thread: new to poser 6 and need help with replacing body with clothing | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Sometimes it is done to prevent 'poke-through'... parts of the body breaking through the clothing. Depending on the clothes, those parts may not be visible anyway (with conforming clothes).

Would it work to make the body parts invisible... (in the heirarchy window deselect the little eye or whatever it is)

Thread: Poser 6 and graphics card? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
That worked! I read about SreeD in the readme, but it implied that P6 would detect and use the correct reneder setup for the system. Guess I'll be upgrading the graphics card when I can. Had to read the pdf manual to find where to set this option, then do it as soon as the program opened, otherwise no cursor and no control. Folks like you make Renderosity the best..

Thread: Builders vs. Users | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Then the scientists said to God... "Hey, we figured out how to make a man. Who needs you anymore?" God says... "Ok, show me how you do it." "Sure," says the scientists, "first, you just need a little dirt..." "Hold it!" God interrupts, "Get your own dirt." Point > no one makes anything from scratch. 1 Corinthians 4:7 (New International Version) For who makes you different from anyone else? What do you have that you did not receive? And if you did receive it, why do you boast as though you did not?

Thread: Flash .swf | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Attached Link: http://www.nateowens.com
If you keep your images simple in Poser, you can get some pretty cool web animations by exporting with the flash ".swf" format. To view a few made different ways (the "endless summer" thing was done with Poser, the others were combinations of other Macromedia products, like "FreeHand" that will also export to flash file format), hop to my website, click on the illustration link, and down to the animated section.
http://www.nateowens.com
Another big asset of flash files, aside from animation and being viewer interactive, is that you can take very intricate graphics that would fall apart when viewed as a jpeg file and make them as flash files... they can be zoomed in and out and panned around just by clicking the right mouse button and choosing your option from the drop-down menu - - you can try this with this full-page newspaper graphic I did at http://www.nateowens.com/beta/moxwebest.swf
It is about 585k size.
As Imckenzie says, most browsers incorporate the player and the download (if not) is free.
