Never had this problem. Perhaps you could address this in the VWD Forum, there is a dedicated topic for troubles
Did you try with a static simulation?

VWD doesn't close the scene but creates a new object (-VWD) in the scene for the clothe simulated and the clothe before simulation is invisible. Can you show some screen capture (scene before or scene after)?

In some case I use morph tool (smooth, moving some vertices,...) to make some minor adjustments of the resulted sim instead of spending plenty of time to do it in the simu tool. It's was also the case with Poser clothing room.

You can try with subd on collision object, also gravity can be too important and without seeing your scene, I would use the tool in the Simulation parameter (don't remember the name!) to pin clothe vertices where you want on the tube

Thanks ! I played with rigidity, self collision and gravity. I'm not a specialist and it's more "try and error". For example the red cable on floor was my first try but the result is an happy accident. The bad thing is I forgot the parameters!

Yes you can! you can simulate whatever you want: imported objects, props, hairs, clothes. My last example was with cylinder primitives.

Thanks to you Biscuit. The tube/cable with VWD give me ideas for another project.
VWD: Tutorials 9, 10, 11, 14, 20, 21, 22 from VWD are on my top waiting list !!!

Hello VWD
Here is a new render. Why did I put this one in a VWD topic like there are no dynamic simulation for clothes or hairs?
Reading your futur tutorial topics a word stroke me: "rope". So I tried to do simulation for some cables and it worked like a charm ! Cables (red, blue and violet) on the floor and robot back clothe (light blue and red) were made with VWD with a simple cylinder primitive.
The result is far better and natural than all "easy pose" tubes I bought. So right now I'm waiting for your tutorials to have plenty more ideas and improve myself
Have a good WE!

"@thehawkman : if you want, you can replace one line of the file "mainButtons.py" which is the default interface for Python. The line "poser.DefineScriptButton(9, ":Runtime:Python:poserScripts:VWD:VWDButtons.py", "VWD")" will replace the 9th button by the text "VWD". By pressing this button, you will execute the script "VWDButtons.py" which displays the VWD buttons. The path have to correspond to your VWD installation, This example corresponds to the default installation." I knew that there was another way to do it :-)
@Fivecat: great! when I see your hair simulations (as those made by Biscuit) I want to improve mine.
After loosing a real big project (I'm so stupid sometimes) I had to find a simpler one. Genesis 3, Dancing slip from J. Cade simulated with VWD. Lois Greenfield inspired. I love dance picture!

Hello,
@VWD: congratulation! at last VWD hit the store. I hope it will be a success, it really deserve it!!.
@Biscuit : thanks for your input and your tutorials, I must find time to assimilate all these infos
@the hawkman: I use script servant from Netherwork: it's very easy to keep my preferred scripts near me.

Thanks Biscuit, like there are plenty of dependant parameter do you have a typical workflow to set them ? Like first: rigidity to keep the clothe folds, then gravity, then ...

@VWD: Thanks!
"That would be great too if the user can select which vertices react to the wind e.g. cape, but maybe not the skirt. Or maybe have separate winds for different groups of vertices? " I agree with both Tomyee and Fivecat :-) For me: by default, the wind apply to all the clothe and we can select vertices we don't want the wind to interfere. I would perhaps be lost with separate wind groups, but why not. I had this need in my last picture: I wanted the wind to apply only on the underskirt. My solution was to fix the vertices of the over skirt but there were no more simulation for them. So yes: both are interesting. We also need to reinitialize (like fixed vertices and release fixed vertices)
Writing this, it could be interesting to have the possibility to reinitialize all the parameter of all vertices (fixed, nail,....) to define new one. Sometimes I get lost with what I have done, I don't want to loose my current state of simulation but want to change parameters. The only option today is to send the result to Poser and start a new simulation with the saved object. Of course I talk about the static simulation.
And a question: what is the right parameter to have a maximum of folds?

Hello
@Biscuit: great render. I'm fond of "inside" picture with "outside" over exposed part. What's the hair? I currently have trouble with my internet connection and hope to download your tutorial as soon as possible. I also don't know about spline break (basic animator I am !). It may be my answer on some troubles I had. Thanks for your job
@tomyee: don't worry, no offense taken !
Here is my last render (orientalist mood) but not entirely satisfied . I increased the complexity to challenge VWD: Victoria 7, a two layered skirt (Calla gown), a more complex pose (at least for me!) and long sleeves. It took some times to find the right roadmap . As usual, VWD did a perfect job and some details are hidden in the shadows
@VWD: a display of the direction of the wind (vector) could be interesting :-)

I'm sorry for your lost and I understand perfectly. I was only talking about my experience with dynamic simulation.
