Almost 18 months since Poser 6 was released and not a whisper about Poser 7 - this is really hard to believe. This is doubly worse for me as when Poser 6 came out there was really nothing in it that was of interest to myself - mostly just render features. I need a robust character creation tool (that accommodates stylized characters) that allows my characters full movement - yes shoulders too. I want a professional interface as good as or better than Carrara's and I want a decent animation system that allows IK to be seamlessly switched on and off. How long do you need to wait for these things?

Hello Opera, yes I did think about Animation Master a good while back - in some ways I wish I had started animating with that program as it's geared up to animate first and foremost and I remember seeing an animation done with it that was very impressive. I'm so used to Poser now and in some ways I'm just getting the hang of it. I did get so fed up with Poser however that I went out and bought Softimage XSI - surely this will solve all my problems. But XSI is just too complicated - sure it will do what I want if I invest hours and hours of time learning to use it. Only one reasonably good free rig is available for XSI but I'm not keen on it - so again I'm stuck.

I personally think talking about fluids in Poser is a bit premature. Let's get the dynamics of human movement sorted out before getting into particle systems.

Robo2010 I believe Poser 6's features were uncovered one year ago and I took delivery of my copy mid February 2005. All I'm hoping for is for e-frontier to give us something on Poser 7, as some info has to be due about now surely. If all you want to do with Poser is animate then you can see why it's frustrating for me - I just can't get the results I want with Poser as it stands at the moment (mostly due to problems with the inverse kinematics and also not having a fully articulated cartoon/stylized model). I've been waiting for better animation tools since Poser 5 pro pack was released. With Pixar's films being so popular there has to be a market for quality cartoon characters.
Thread: I don't believe Poser 6 - YOU CAN'T SCRUB THE TIMELINE ! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hi Dr Geep, thanks for the graphic - I really hope this is fix by E-Frontier as it's such a fundamental function. To be frank I can't use Poser 6 until it's fixed - I need to have control over my reference material in the background (I thought that the recent service pack would have fixed it, but it doesn't).

Hi Little Dragon the arrow keys work, but not in any way that is useful to me. Pressing the left and right arrow keys will make you plod painfully slow through the AVI. Also due to keyboard caching you will over shoot the place you wanted to stop. Bring back the way it worked in Poser 5, you could move (scrub) back and forward in the graph editor at varying speeds and you could stop at precisely the frame you wanted.

Sorry PhilC - not sure what you mean. In Poser 5 if you were in the graph editor you could grab the green play head bar (cursor would change to an arrow pointing right & left). You could then move (scrub) the green bar to the right or left and as long as your AVI was compressed you could watch the AVI movie play. So you could scrub back and forward to get a sense of timing. Poser 6 only updates the AVI movie when you stop at a frame and release the left mouse button - this is completely useless.
Thread: Poser Books? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hi Deecey, I'm really hoping that your book explains how to create your own characters in Poser 6, face morphs, rigging, joints etc. I've wanted to create my own characters from scratch for years. I got excited when Peachpit announced they were going to release a book (Poser 5 'visual quick start' ) - but it never materialized. Peachpit's books in my opinion are fantastic, very clearly laid out, concise and easy to follow and they're usually available in high street stores (I like seeing books before buying them). Cheers

How good is the section on 'setup', rigging, joints etc. Is there a section on creating your own character? Cheers, eecir

Mine has arrived today (Scotland) - I had it sent to my work so I'm going in to collect it before they close. The day I take off work is the day Poser arrives there. I only just found out so I'm going to have to pop in before they close for the night.
Thread: OT Dr Who is back! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
How special is this Doctor going to be? - this, I think, is completely in the hands of the writers. I felt in a similar way to 'pjf' until the 'Spinning Earth' monologue was delivered by Eccleston with great skill. It showed that he had a deep intense side to him. I just hope more of this side is revealed in future episodes - he's not a light weight actor. The first episode had a lot to introduce, so I think Mr Eccleston should be cut some slack and given a chance to show what the Doctor is made of.
