Quote - I've said it before, but I'll say it again... One word: PzDb
Works like a charm and has a searchable database. Fixes ALL of the above concerns.
My $.02
It's now $.04 since I agree with every word.

In the PC world this generaly referes to virtual memory, not ram or hard disk space. I don't know the mac equivalant.
Thread: Render Area Keeps Adding Post Render Settings | Forum: Vue
There is a check box to add post processing to scene in the post render dialog, just uncheck this.

Quote - I will someties use vue and import PZ3s and make eco systems out of them
but I like to stick in poser where i can because it's easier and I toon in poser.
Love esther
I do the same thing, VUE can use still or animated PZ3s in Ecosystems. Millions are possible. For less ambitiose numbers the reduced resolution Daz characters are almost a must if you want to excede 10 people inside Poser. unless its just a bunch of naked bald people, then you can squeze in a few more. Everytime I finish a Poser scene I save the character out to my green room. These folks are easily placed into later projects as background people.
Thread: Benchmarking | Forum: Carrara
3 minutes 41 seconds. Boxx 24 core zeon 12gb ram.
Even so it's possible in C8pro to push render quality to the point it would take days to finish.
Thread: Problem with Vue 8.5-9 xstream using 3ds Max | Forum: Vue
I use 9 INF so Vue and 3ds max work independantly. Have you tried a VERY simple pair of scenes? Very high res terains etc could be a problem.

Thread: 'Swapping' objects for render | Forum: Vue
Quote - Temporarily hide objects from the OpenGL views by placinf them in a hidden layer? Setting some viewports to wireframe? Disable background draw threads? These can halp to get better response from the program if this is your problem.
That is the easiest way to go. layers are better but just clicking visibility on individual items is great. I always hide my poser people for example either in a layer or just with visibility toggle.

Thread: Cararra8Pro 64bit on win 7 64bit low microprocesser utilization | Forum: Carrara
Found the answer for me at least, with lots of rams and cpu cores. I changed to bucket size to 32 down from 128 on render and my cpu utilization when from 44% to 95%.
Thread: Does Vue 10 need a human figure growth system like it has for plants? | Forum: Vue
I use Poser people as an eco system all the time in animations. I used the low res ones available for an animation of 100s of thousands of soldiers running by, 5 different soldier types and 3 sub animations, although the soldiers look too similar due to laziness up front building the ecosystem.
Thread: i5 or i7 ?? | Forum: Vue
By all means for Vue, Poser, Maya get the i7. skimp on memory or now if you have to, or get a less exciting video card but get all the CPU you can afford now. The others are simple and inexpensive upgrades later. in fact the easiest way to save a few $ is skip a cddvd drive and scavange one from an older computer.

Quote - Also, for those in the know, here's some scripts by PhilC that should not be missed! Why eFrontier and SmithMicro don't simply employ PhilC is beyond me. He clearly knows Poser better than they do(yes, I said it! :P )
Anyway, these are some great starting points for your own Cloth Room projects. I know these scripts work in Poser 6. after that...no clue. But why not give these a chance? I mean, I have no clue how all those settings in Poser's Cloth Room work. If PhilC says "this is silk" and "that's cotton" who am I to argue? Plus they work.
I think I used Cotton preset to make this here pic.
Actually these worthy files of Philc's are found at

Thread: Renderfarm for carrara , has anyone used this site? | Forum: Carrara
Pcicing example (once again from the big guys)
enter time to render each frame 2 examples 5 minutes and 4 hours. 5 minutes $1100.00 4 hours $23,000. While my average render time was 5 minutes I rerendered the last 100 frames of mostly sky at a huch higher atmosphere quality setting and the render time sunk to 4 hours per frame. I have dual zeons (12 cores each).
This link does not include the rerendered 100 last frames as they will go with titles and credits when reposted.
