Vue 11 particle effectors (except magnets which needs a video all of its own)....

Thread: What do you think about new Particles? | Forum: Vue
360 degree ecos and ecobrushing are fairly easy new elements to get a quick win from.
I think we're going to need to spend a lot more time getting to grips with particles and materials on particles before we can really judge them. Just getting each of the effectors to do something has taken me a week! In the usual Vue way I think we'll start to learn from each other pretty quickly and before you know it we'll have something new and powerful in our toolkit.

Thanks Silverblade.
I've posted a second one - again pretty basic - covering the three rendering modes.
I hope I'll have time to get onto some of the more interesting stuff like effectors in the next couple of weeks.

Thread: Rendering time | Forum: Vue
If you want to compare old with new you have to do it with comparable settings otherwise we're into the territory of feeling. As a software developer I have the T-shirt for that one after someone said something took 3 hours that normally took a couple of minutes in an earlier version later admit he'd had a bottle of wine to drink and fallen asleep at the computer! Turned out it was now about 10s faster after log analysis.
Judging from your renders I'm guessing the two are using different atmosphere models? That can be a major player in rendering speed and that tends to balance out speed improvements from one version to the next.

As Shawn says really hard to compare. I'm guessing you didn't switched all of Vue 10.5's render settings down to the same as Vue 5's?

Thread: Vue and Genesis | Forum: Vue
I export the Genesis figure to Vue regularly. Do your setup in Daz Studio and export as an object file. Import the object into Vue. You'll need to tweak the materials - I use SkinVue for this but you can do it manually. Then render away.

Thread: Vue 10 tutorials | Forum: Vue
Hi,
Thanks
The Vue 10 page says Vue 9 at the top but I've not been through my website to change references to Vue to include 10 yet either

Thread: Vue 8 & RAM | Forum: Vue
I've been running 64bit with 16GB of RAM for a few months now and Poser figures rarely put a dent in Vue like they did on my old 32bit 3GB system. However I can't really say if that is because of the 64bit or the RAM.
If it was a concern I'd try throwing figures into a scene one at a time till it couldn't cope anymore.

Thread: Does Vue export as 3ds or obj? | Forum: Vue
Having been told blender was now easier to use I installed it on my new CG rig. I've not spent a lot of time with it because I've other toys (Daz Studio 4, MoI 2 and Vue 9.5) to keep me busy but I'd have to say Blender feels easier only in a relative sense. Its gone from "I've no idea how to do that" to "I think I can see how to do that but I still can't get it to work". So good luck with Blender :-)

I think there is one of the CG mags at the moment. Sorry I can't remember which one I saw it in.

Thread: What to do to reduce time of rendering process? | Forum: Vue
Ten hours. I remember when I used to measure render times in days. Thankfully computers are now faster. That all said if you're rendering an animation I could understand 10 to 15 minutes per frame being too long.
There may be things you can do to speed up your rendering but we'll need to know more about the scene to really make specific suggestions. What render setting are you using? How large is your render? What kind of atmosphere? Does it include reflections, transparency, hypermaterials, EcoSystems, Infinite Terrains, Poser figures etc?

Thread: 9.5 Anyone?? | Forum: Vue
I've been playing around with the new hybrid depth of field in Vue 9.5 for a couple of evenings. Here is my first serious render with it although the subject isn't supposed to be serious...
