Hello everyone- Sorry once more I was too quick off the mark- but, better late than never: since the update is STILL not at DAZ (....), you can get it at my place now, for the time being - at least until it's to be had at DAZ. Take care that you download the right version for the kind of EC II you have! - UPGRADE or new. As far as the Manual concerns: please have patience till it's available at the DAZ product pages. For those of you who MUST have the Manual here and now: mail me at tech@pcbos.nl, telling me whether you run MAC or PC, and I'll find a solution. And please note: if the Manual is not up at DAZ by coming Saturday, you'll be able to download it straight from me as well. Apologies for the inconvenience! Hello All!Sorry, sorry, sorry!
You are right and I was wrong - the updates are not at DAZ yet (though they have been sent in on time, I fully believed they were there already)
Possibly they will wait till later tonite with releasing, you know, with the list of new releases sent round.
But don't worry - you know me by now: if it takes too long, I will see to it you can get the download via my own page. You will not be left
standing out in the cold :-)
This is what I can do: I will wait to see if the downloads are up for grabs this night; if they are not, at least the UPDATE will be waiting for you at my site, tomorrow at the latest - till the moment DAZ has placed them.
--the Manual is readable online at my place
--you can later download from DAZ, so you can call it up straight from ECII
Well, cheers everyone - and sorry for being too early..
Paul Christiaan

well- it's getting EVEN better, with the update to 2.0.1! Planning to introduce the Extra Features later tonight, or tomorrow, on my site The update should be with DAZ beginning of March- the PC version have been final-tested; now the Mac version (Oh lord, why do I do it); and then the manual can be finalized and all uploaded- hurrah! Sorry about the frames- the only way I could think of to keep some order with such deep subject matter. Might possibly add a button that at least wipes the screen clear, so you have all screen space for the tutorial. And, of course, it's a manual that still has to be finished; the final thing will be a stand-alone. By the way, fauve: how did the render go, the one I suggested doing something to the bounce lights, instead of postwork? Really curious about that one. Hi Sandoppe, others- yes, that is the plan: Once I've the thing finished, it will be compressed, and "distributed" via DAZ, this excellent site, my own place as well. In the meantime, I'm adding chapters as I can, so it will be still plain html for some time- sorry. I'm doing what I can! Ahem..I hate trumpeting about my own babies, but -do you know EC II has a special tool for this? It adapts any lightset- going back to Poser 2, that is; to the version of Poser you're running..
I ran into your problem when writing for Poser 5, so I wrote the tool, then implemented it in all EC II's version.
Cheers,

Hmm..You know, I still haven't been able to decide whether or not I even LIKE Poser 5 that much... I only bought it because so many people asked me if I would write for it.
Yet, all in all, especially with that smooth-polygon thing, and the fact you can render really really HUUUUUGE, make it more of a professional tool than Poser 4. Marque is right, good we don't have to worry about the key (don't we though?); Oh yes, and I fired off many mails to the tech dept., during the past weeks, about a horrible failure in the way they compiled Python in Poser 4/5; still haven't had a reply from them yet...
I don't know what it all means. Let's say they are all so hard at work that they simply don't have the time to react- it can happen.
Let's trust them, why don't we - I certainly know of no reason why we shouldn't!
Cheers,
Paul Christiaan

Thanks Lyndon, for the trust in me. I hope I deserve it- and sorry, I read your message before I posted the rendering-
please DO post me a list with questions! I learn from helping, UI is REALLY steep learning :-)-
BUT. *****
Are you aware of the helpfiles? Forgive me, but I fail to see how I can get more basic than with those "PhotoReader in 4 easy steps", and so on, helpfiles.
Perhaps the problem is you can't see the RED Question Sign, top right in almost every module?- if that is the case, set your videocard to SMALL Lettertypes (96 dpi)- or download my "Eye-Corrector" (here, proPack Section freebies, DAZ; later my own site as well).
Anyway, if you need help, post your questions to
tech@pcbos.nl
-it's a pleasure to help anybody get the most out my ECII; I mean that.
Cheerio,
Paul Christiaan

Now this is what I call an interesting thread!Great show, Classic, to bring in a painting- shows how far has computer to go..
I, likewise, simply couldn't resist and added a painting of my own, a close-up of a portrait I made of a Brazilian art-collector.
As you can see, neither the painting nor the Poser figure have those symmetrical shadows you were talking about- logical, because I'm a painter, and I wrote ECII to create the kind of Environments I was missing so much in the computer.
Special for the first questioner: The one I used in the rendering, was one out-of-the-box (from the "SunDown" Folder, in fact -both Bounce and Sky). I then took the whole
Environment to the LightWorkshop, turned Sun and Sky to get more light on the front of the face; toned the whole thing down with a tug on the Saturation slider; then did the same to the Bounce Lights. 1,5 Minutes from nothing to end, SnapShots taken at each change. I finally saved the lot as a "Total" SnapShot Def, so I can recreate the whole Environment, complete with all different steps that went into the making of it, later on with one click, and continue refining if wanted (I could have put a colder backlight on her shoulder, for instance).
Oh- by the way: model used is standard Vicky2.
Cheers,
Paul Christiaan

Hello Larry I mean the Pro Pack update. I'm worried about that TK 8.0 thing you were tellling about- so I thought: apply that latest patch, then things should be ok if they weren't before. I'm dead beat, will return tomorrow. Trust things will work out for you- I'm absolutely unable to reproduce your problem, I give up. Let me know, OK? Sleep well Paul

_ something other just occurred to me- try placing the SunDial away from the model screen. Place it on the right- it doesn't matter if it obscures the interface there, since you're working with it's interface solely. You see, it's workings depending somewhat on the OS, Poser has a weird screen redrawal routine, that might perhaps interfere here? Just guessing, of course. But try and work free from the model screen, see if this works. And are you 100% sure you're working with Register Check set to ON? You should get a question each time you startup the SunDial, whether to "CORRECT" or to "ACCEPT" Succes, Paul Christiaan

Thanks Larry-I must say I don't get this-- let me think-- you're using P5?
This is a message that did appear once in the grey, long- lost past when I hadn't yet fully implemented the ECII lights, and partly worked with standard lights in P5 (which is why the program warns you of "strange, non-EC lights"!)
OK- try this:
Before using a lightset- UNLESS IT CONSISTS TOTALLY OF ECII-created sets ONLY! (Bounce, Sun, Sky), go to module "READER", and click on "CHECK". If it tells you the Environment is "OK", you should be safe. If you get the question whether you want to DELETE or ADAPT, always choose either DELETE or ADAPT ALL (if that one is an option, otherwise choose ADAPT)
If you now go to module SunDial, ALWAYS click on CORRECT when asked.
On opening, go to the prefs menu and THERE select "START"(it is below the menu item "REGISTER CHECK ON") If you misclicked and it says "REGISTER CHECK OFF", reclick it to set it back to ON.
In other words, go the save route and don't click on the blue message you see first when SunDial starts, but go to the menu.
If SunDial now goes to work, you should be 100% OK- your message, especially the crashing, sounds like a P5- memory problem to me. Possibly you did many renders before, or worked the program hard, had too little RAM perhaps? I don't know, just guessing. On the other hand, "Abnormal program ending" is a Python P4-message, so I'm totally at a loss here.
I've tried to reproduce the problem on different machines here, and utterly failed to make ECII crash- unless I moved, in P4, ECII's window WHILE Poser was still rendering- but I warn of that in the "basics" helpfile.
Let me know if something happens, I will keep on looking into the strange happenings at your computer ...
PS- you must have TK8.3- make sure you have the latest patches applied!
By the way- checkout the ECII freebie at my site
