Try exporting from and re-importing to LW - it may switch the vertex order back to Poser-friendly.
Thread: HOW AM I DOING AS A MODERATOR? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
You're doing well. Technical support is what I value, and what you and the others provide. Just one idea: sometimes people don't appear to understand or test the solutions they get in responses, so if you or the other recognized experts respond as well, it can add weight to such threads.
Thread: Props referring to OBJs -- How? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Eric, there's one more instance of the prop name, down at the bottom -
doc
{
addActor propname
}
}
I reckon that has to be renamed as well, but since we are usually keeping the prop name the same after deleting the vertex lines, it's probably not critical.
Thread: Another morphing prop problem | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I don't know if it's better, but you can also try this: 1. Prepare the chair in your modeller in morphed and unmorphed form. 2. Export the chair and morphs from your modeller, as before. 3. Import the unmorphed chair to Poser with no options selected. If you try importing it with the usual options selected, it may not accept morphs, unless both it and the morphs were exported from Poser first. 4. Apply the morph(s) and give them good names. Resize or scale the chair as needed (assuming the chair is still a single object). 5. Save as pp2 file (add to Props library). The part about the material names should be less of a problem, as long as you have UVMapper (or even the Grouping Tool) available to ensure correct naming. Just make sure that you don't use special characters like spaces, and you don't have conflicts between group or materials names. It should be a breeze if you've already selected the groups accurately in your modeller, and they don't have Poser-unfriendly material names.
Thread: Transferring Magnets Question... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Arrange the magnet props hierarchy (to make it easier to move later) and add it to the Props/Magnets library. Later, after you open another figure, you can select the body part for which the magnet is intended, and apply the magnet set from the Props/Magnets library.
Thread: Light cone goes through solid non-transparent objects? Bug? | Forum: Carrara
I checked back through the old messages (using the Search link above) and "light cone" in the text field. It appears that light cone fall-off doesn't work in Carrara, and that light cones interfere with other processes, like g-buffers (post-render effects). So light cones may also interfere with transparency. Maybe your cube isn't set to cast shadows, but I doubt that would change the effect, especially if light cones also interfere with that property. Is your cube set for shadows?
Even though some post-render effects are disallowed if the output file format isn't correct, I doubt that using an actual tiff render (rather than the area render) would give you the correct light cone effects. Did you try a tiff render in the render room (with other effects disabled)?
Thread: Custom Texture problems | Forum: Poser Technical
The hard part is conforming it - so you did well there. If you have a cr2 file for the clothing, and the cr2 file refers to a wavefront.obj file in the Geometries folder, then UVMapper should work, starting with the default planar z-axis settings IIRC. You have to tweak it by separating and moving the groups around, and possibly remapping and enlarging some of them, but Steve Cox has made that fairly painless, especially in the Windows version. Then you create the new texture template, if necessary pasting pieces of the old texture(s) onto it to fit.
Thread: If BT screams and no-one hears him, did he really make a sound? | Forum: Poser Technical
IIRC forceLimits 4 means the end user can't change some of the settings that would regulate the morphing while in Poser - it's a way of preventing the end user from messing up, and can only be changed by text editing.
So maybe you could try forceLimits 0.
If you look at various parameters that ARE hidden, like smooth or joint, they all have a keys line reading k 0 0, but I doubt that it's essential to change it. They also have a staticValue line equal to initValue in some cases, and interpStyleLocked 0, which are probably also not essential in this case.

Thread: If BT screams and no-one hears him, did he really make a sound? | Forum: Poser Technical
AFAIK, the minimum you need to do is change hidden to 1 and resave as a proper cr2 file. Then the dial is gone. I doubt if it's a pre-4.0.3 problem, since they had to edit pre-4.0.3 files in the same manner. But just hiding a dial may cause other problems, so you have to be careful. Maybe you have a specific example of a dial that won't hide, or that warps the element when you make it disappear.

O.K. - I watched the 4.78 MB movie with the space station. It's very well done. Are you the actor operating the touch screen?

Good news on the renderer. It will make Poser 5 more attractive to newbies (and old-timers) who may not want to have to export scenes to Max or Bryce or Carrara to get effects like

You could ask Nerd if he wants a joint venture, where you could work with him on this or other items. If you could go through the steps of:
you might be a good associate for Nerd. One possible problem with the concept is that the curved surface may require special lighting conditions in Poser that are likely to differ drastically from any sunlit or studio photograph used to texture the curved surface. The result may be that the lighting on the figure will rarely resemble the lighting in the photographic backdrop.
Thread: movie made by Carrara | Forum: Carrara
The other movies (Earth, Metal ball) are good. I couldn't view the big movie (4.78 MB). It loads and starts o.k., running from the start through the first 50 or 100 frames, then it jumps back to the start again.
