You may have the joint parameters messed up, specifically the inclusion/exclusion angles. If you want, send it to me & I can check it out for you, & fix it up if thats the problem. Pack cady.patrick@acd.net
Thread: How to render LWO imports w/o faceted appearance? | Forum: Bryce
Thank you for the helpful info. I bought the LightRom Superbundle, & have 11 CD's of objects to play with now. LWS scene files don't import correctly- only 1 untextured objects imports of a group. Anyone else have any luck? Pack

Thread: MT dial shows integers only- why? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
There is no interval adjustment. Sensitivity accepts only integers as well. I rarely used MT values greater than 1, so this is not good. Any other ideas? Regards, Pack

I have one in Imagine format that doesn't convert well. I can send it if you can do better. Its a popular public domain "Galleon" that I've spruced up a bit. Regards, Pack cady.patrick@acd.net

Thread: MPEG BLUES | Forum: Animation
The resolution you use is too much for 56k. Mpeg definitely give the greatest compression. I am very happy with Digigami's MegaPeg. Cost me $99 with the special included for upgrading to Adobe Premiere 5.2. I think that MPEG quality depends alot on what compressor you use. Is better than Bink, Real G2, Avi2Mpeg, or Quicktime IMO. If you're careful about minimizing screen movement Real Video works OK. It's free & the audio is very good. See http://members.xoom.com/jercady/Poserstuff.html for samples. Remember that 720x480 hardware compressed/decompressed video draws about 5Mbytes/sec (or 40Mbits per sec/bps using modem terms). 56k is a joke in terms of bandwidth. See my home page for examples using poser. With Real Player. Sorry no Mpeg samples at this time on my page. regards, Pack
Thread: Joint Parameters Holy Shit I | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
You're better off adjusting the inclusion/exclusion angles. Thats what Zygotes always done when I looked. I put the limb near an extreme angle. Then adjust the center joint position. Next adjust Incl/Excl angles by placing cursor over the end of the line of the 4 lines controling the incl/excl angles. The cursor will change into a circle with a dot when your in position to start adjusting. Hard to explain, but it is in the P4 manual. It show the effect of the new angle in real time. I find this approach not only faster, but give nicer joints over the long run. There are exceptions. Good luck Pack
Thread: Someone interested in making a Poser cartoon? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I estimate about 10 to 15 hours per minute of finished product. Total around 300 hours. I could devote about 30 to 40 hours/week. I'd probably take a week off work to devote full time (60-80 hours) for 1 week. So for 2 people that would be about 7 weeks at roughly 20 hours/week. I would use more than 2 people if available. I ceated several 1 minute anims that took over 40 hours, most of which was fixing Spline Interpolations between keyframes. The second biggest time consumer was synching audio to the action. I have a quick fix for the next time. Those 2 things took around 70% of the total time just repairing what I did. I don't think phonemes are very important for articulating lips in a cartoon. None of the cartoons I see come close to the actual word phonemes/mouth positions. Several more short cuts I intend to use are to write script around the motions, mocaps, objects, animals & sets that I already have. 22 minutes is 1 half hour episode. Once I/we have a library of motions & characters, the time per episode would drop- not to mention the learning curve factor. If actual money entered the picture more people could be hired, or we could dedicate ourselves full time. regards, Pack cady.patrick@acd.net

I got her. see my original model pics here: http://userdata.acd.net/cady.patrick/thnails.htm She's in about 4 pics in my gallery. I could share her for a good cause. The Poser ladies are better, but thats just MHO. Made in Imagine, can export to 3DS. Pack

Much faster to browse the gallery. Live Picture was very cool tho. You need to move the scroll bar away from the right edge a little bit. Pack

I thought the Meshes & texture maps for Animal Kingdom were all excellent. They must have used some object conversion program to convert to Poser format, & delivered it as is. I learned to work the joint parameters pretty well, & can fix most animals up in about 30 to 60 minutes. Mostly adjusting Inclusion & Exclusion angles for each axis of each joint. For less than $1.00/mesh, I think it's a great deal. What's the alternative if you want such a complete collection of Poser Meshes? I recommend Animal Kingdom BTW, how do I post a image with my reply or message?

You can also just render a Poser pic & export in .TIF . Then in Premiere choose the Transparency/Alpha (must be in video track B or higher to use transparency). TIF automatically ALpha out any black background. Pack
