When I do Architectural Viz in Max, displacements, bumps and har are pretty much what you use for grass most of the time. Most of the time though, our grass is freshly mowed background lawn grass.
Most of the up close plants other then grass is done by panels and few procedual plants. On static images, very often plants are photosimulated (postwork)!
Hi Anton, good to see you around :)

Quote - > Quote - Looks like the bulk of the pay version abilities is targeting content makers
Now that would be a good idea indeed - if the included tools are good. Haven't looked, haven't tested, so I have no opinion on D|S 3
But I do hope that Smith Micro will go the same way with Poser. Poser has content creation featuers (Setup room, hierarchy editor, hair room, cloth room) but they need quite a lot of work. And I suspect that only content creators ever touch the Setup room.II bet the Poser team at SM is highly interested in D|S 3, and I sure hope it'll prod them to come up with a thorougly improved Poser 8!
Since DS came out with the figure setup tools bundle, I hardly touch poser any more. I don't have a huge need for a lot of CR2 editing and hacking utilities too. I'm really digging it. They really left Poser content making ability in the dust.

Quote - > Quote - > Quote - I'm glad I'm wrong about the GI. Up until now, 3D Delight in Daz Studio hasn't had this feature. Still, the one-processor limit (without an insane expenditure) is a major weakness--64 bit version notwithstanding. .
What exactly are you talking about? What insane expenditure? $40 bucks?
Where are you getting this one processor limit? DS has had multi threaded rendering for some time now.
Can you point me to your sources, because I can't find the same info on DAZ site.*to quote from 3Delight :
The first 3Delight license is free of charge. This is a fully functional two threads license that is liable for commercial use and can be downloaded * here*. No support is included with the free license but can be purchased for 250 USD.*
*For all additional licenses:
*- The cost is 1,000 USD for a two threads license and 1,500 USD for a four threads license.
- Support is 190 USD per license per year for the two threads license and 285 USD for the four threads license. Support includes free upgrades and e-mail support.
- All licenses are floating.
Daz Studio counts as 1 3Delight License. looks like Daz made a deal to increase the threads, but the additionals still cost...
You're not buying the license from 3Delight. You seem to be reading something that doesn't apply to DAZ. That's total misinformation.
40 dollar versions of Daz Studio 3, both 32 and 64 bit versions render on four threads (on quad core computers) that I've seen, with no additional renderer purchase.
Sounds like you guys are talking about 3D Delight plugin for Maya or Max or one of those, which has nothing to do with what's included with DAZ Studio.

Yea, slowly he's getting worn... I keep talking about how BriBri needs her sister! Especially when he sees her get all upset and meowling when I leave a room without her. Bri Bri hates it if I leave a room and close the door behind me, she howls.
Whenever I get up and walk around the house, she's right there. Still doesn't let me walk up to her pick her up off the ground, but she lets me pick her up when she's somewhere higher, or if I sit on the ground and wait for her to come to me.
When I'm just standing, she'll come and rub up against my feet, but if I bend over to pick her up, she gets spooked.

Nice UV map is more then a one or two step process. WHile not too difficult, it could be a bit time consuming getting it just right.
Here are some tutorials:

Hexagopn works great for UV mapping. I love it's Unwrapping tool. Most of my stuff is UV mapped in HEX.
In a nutshell, on the mesh you define seams where to split the UV map into pieces. Most often, these are in the same spots RL clothing has seams.
Then You run "Unwrap" UV's, and let Hexagon stretch the pieces.
Sometimes there's a bit of trial and error till you find the best place for the seams.
After that you do some tweaking and arranging them on the UV Unit square.
I think I saw couple good Hexagon related vieos on YouTube, and something included with Hexagon. (Going from memore about the video, so I could be off) There could be one or two at DAZ too.

Yea, everyone in the house except for me is current. My honey and the kids are on his insurance, kitties and the dog are current. I'm the only one that's not.
I told my honey to harp on me to not avoid the exam.

Birthday today, turning the yucky 4-0...
I really really miss Tiggers :(
Bri Bri is doing well, still working on her becoming a snuggle bunnny. Some days she's snuggly, other days she's distant. We'll get there.

Also, if your shading rate is set too low, you're going to get the black spots (shadows)

Quote - Connie, I am so sorry to hear of the loss of Tigger. I was kinda keeping up with the thread, but it was so hard. We finally had to put our precious Duchess to sleep, we had her for 20 years. I could hardly bear to read this thread, know that I was pulling for you and Tigger. We adopted a couple of sisters from a rescue shelter. Ziva and Abby.
Oh, no, I'm so very sorry you lost your little Duchess :(
I'm glad you have the new babies to ease the pain. They look just so adorable! Just look at those cute big eyes!

Thank You so very much everyone.
I know it's probably futile, but I have a tiniest glimmer of hope today. Tigger seems to be doing pretty good without being overloaded with food. he even wants to eat a little bit on her own, and lets me know when she's hungry. Her poop has gotten a lot darker (not like blood), but the way it's supposed to when the bile is draining out. Maybe te exams and the ultrasound and all that jarred the tumor a bit to let some of it pass through. Or maybe less food made more room in her tummy.
Today she actually livened up a tad, enough to crawl from her overnight corner bed, to the one next to my pillow. I thought she needed to pee, but she didn't care for the litterbox. Which means she was hungry. (Normally, before the illness, she would come from her overnight bed to the pillow to paw at my face when she's hungry).
I fed her and she relaxed for about 10 minutes. Then she crawled out again, and sat on my hand, and started purring and snuggling. She hasn't done that since she got ill. Her head is perking up a lot today when she sees or hears me. I haven't seen that in about a week.
She had another feeding this afternoon, just before I started writing. I fed Bubba, and sh got all interested. Even had a lick of his food. Waiting for her to need to pee, I'm not sure how that is going to unfold. My honey went to the store yesterday, and got me a pack of diapers which I tailored to be able to cup her little bum into it if she needs to go. She still tries to make it to the litter box, so hopefully I won't misinterpret it today.
She's napping how after the feeding, looking so beautiful and peaceful in her snuggly bed.
Here's how well trained her and Bubba are... Bubba gets to go outside in the yard for few hours during the day. Yesterday afternoon, I whistle for Bubba to come in the house, and as usual, he somes running in... and then promptly goes to pee inside the litterbox. He won't even pee outside!!!!
We're hanging in there today.

I made a render with one of the textures from the pack just so I can play with the textures - In Cararra. Didn't even have to tweak the shaders, they imported in Cararra perfectly!
