A few paragraphs in the last couple newsletters have been black text on black background. When I highlight the whole thing and paste into Word I can see the discount restrictions. It may be an issue with my e-mail client. If so, apologies.
Thread: Coupon Code not giving 30% off | Forum: MarketPlace Customers
The newsletter announcement doesn't say anything about sale items being excluded. Nor does the newsletter for the current discount. You only find out you can't have the discount when you're at checkout.
The newsletters used to (as of time before last) say whether the discount applies to sale items or not. Now that information is left out.
Thread: Why doesn't Smith Micro sell their figures without Poser? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
In fairness to Allyson, Ryan and their Poser predecessors, V4 out of the box is not exactly a stunner. Blocky figure, mediocre lo-res texture, ugly purple second-skin bikini, buzz cut that looks like it was borrowed from Michael... I remember being disappointed when first loading V4.0 without any add-ons. A lot has to be done to (and spent on) Vicky before she resembles any of those hottie renders we're accustomed to seeing on product pages.
But everyone is right that Vicky is much easier to get to where you want her to be, thanks to widespread product offerings. Like many people I started with the Poser figures, Jessi, Sydney, etc. I held out against V4 and M4 for a long time, but once I started on the DAZ figures my G2 girls and their tiny wardrobes were abandoned.
Anyway, I think as free supplements to Poser, the SM figures serve a purpose... to get you started. I don't see them as being successful standalone products.
Thread: can 2 poser object files be interpolated outside of poser software | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - The main problem is that you normally can't use the meshes in another application (see EULA).
I can't export an OBJ from Poser to manipulate in another application because Poser is incapable? Why does Poser include an export function at all if we're not supposed to do this?

Thread: Problem getting some vendors' shoes onto V4 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - Re: shoes with hidden feet. Don't even worry with the feet. Just pose the shoes. It's far easier than worrying with invisible body parts.
Problem is, conformed shoes (or anything else) are difficult to pose separately from the body, especially the rotations. And if they're not conformed, they don't move with the leg or the body as a whole.
I realize rigging shoes may be difficult. But most vendors have figured it out. Some CR2 footwear is a joy to work with. I especially enjoy the ones where both shoes are part of one figure instead of two different figures. It's a skill that must be learned, yes, but I think selling a professional product for money means customers have a right to expect a certain level of expertise.
Thread: Problem getting some vendors' shoes onto V4 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I did contact the vendor. Her reply, which was not included in the Product Page or the Read Me, was that I'm supposed to make V4's feet and toes invisible (no pose for this was included). Nothing like shifting responsibility to the buyer when the seller can't figure out something during creation.
This solution stinks because once you make a body part invisible, you can't click on it to select it for posing. You have to select from a menu, which in the case of feet and toes means scrolling to the very bottom.

No foot pose with this product, but it wouldn't address this problem anyway. Posing the foot manually just moves the conformed shoe along with the foot. You can get the foot into the shoe before by posing the foot before conforming, but then conforming the shoe ruins it again.
The basic problem is that when the shoe is conformed, it does not match the default foot pose. It says flat on the floor, as if it believes THAT is the default foot pose. It's almost as if the vendor built the shoe with Vicky standing flat-footed, but never tried conforming it before putting it out for sale.
Thread: coupon code Cure For Your Monday Blues! don't work | Forum: MarketPlace Customers
By the way... This code is good through Wednesday. If I see something I want over $10 before then, can the discount be used again, or is it a one-time thing?
Thread: coupon code Cure For Your Monday Blues! don't work | Forum: MarketPlace Customers
Aside from the code failure that was fixed...
I bought a $10.16 item, but the discount code wouldn't work. The vendor (or Rendo) dropped the price in the MP to $9.56 while I was checking out (even though it still said $10.16 in my cart), disqualifying it for the coupon. Had to add another item to the cart, which I guess was the idea of the price switch. Sneaky. GRRRRR.

Render in Background is a great idea, and long overdue, but it needed more quality control before releasing as a feature and a selling point.
Thread: How many people would like to see more dynamic clothes? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I personally don't want more dynamic clothes, because for me they're more trouble than they're worth. But I know others feel differently, so to each his own. As long as conforming doesn't go away, the more variety the merrier. I wonder if there's some other category on the horizon that we haven't thought about.
Thread: Yet another Poser bug... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - I do not think that the error was with Poser. Exacly what were your material names? The names should not contain spaces.
When you use a material name with a space, Poser simply truncates it before the space. "MAT METAL" becomes "MAT." Thus if you're not careful, MAT Metal, MAT Wood, and MAT Plastic all become MAT, and your 3 carefully defined material zones are now 1 big zone. Ack!
I'd call this a bug, but it's consistent throughout Poser's history. Words must be jammed together or separated with hyphens or underscores. Poser's programmers are apparently still stuck in an era (1980s?) when Windows_had_no_knowledge_of_blank_spaces. (PCs didn't know there would be life on Earth after 1999, either.) Most vendors of Poser-related products still follow suit with_the_antiquated_naming_convention.
Thread: Prop Deleter | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Deleting props in the Hierarchy is easy, yes. Heck, you don't even need the Hierarchy Editor. just select the prop in the Preview window and hit Delete. (Shift-delete if you don't want the Confirm Delete dialog)
But you can only do one at a time, and the OP wants to delete a bunch at once. It's a shame we need to find a script to do this. Hopefully P9 will allow mutliple selection.
