The puppet with the hands in the air is Poserese for "there was no rsr. with this file", which means either your files are in the wrong place, or possibly there was no rsr. with the zip. Doesn't matter as Poser creates one as soon as you re-save the figure to the library. The important one is the cr2 file which must be in 'characters'. Keep looking. It's a really nice figure and looks a lot like Betty! Plus, if you don't have them yet get both textures for her. Luck! maclean
Thread: Bit-schlepping through Poser4 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I still reckon that 'Treemaker' is an escapee from Painter! Exact same menu style, slider controls etc. And why can't they put in a Hierarchy Panel that we can pull open. It's SOOO frustrating dicking around with that thing! maclean

Me too (except I usually hang around) But it does seem to be slowing down recently. I'm relieved though. I thought it was my new computer! maclean
Thread: More with Hair | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Just to recap what I've found once more. The Hairy Prop Maker can be called up on PC or Mac simply by typing in 'hair' (no quotes) when you open Poser. Select any body part, prop or hair and click 'create new figure', wait around till it appears and play with the Treemaker dials (it's slow!), then press 'Done', go to props menu and you'll find 'Hair 1' This can be saved as a smart prop and color can be changed using Surface Materials. Only way I've found of saving a render so far is File/Export/Image. Still playing with it. maclean
Thread: Search hair trans and texture maps | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Go to Digital Babes (link on right-hand side under Top 15) and get Kozubaro's incredible hair and trans maps. Also Traveler at Morph world has some new versions of the standard Poser hair with lots of morphs to play with. Just generally check 'Hair' sections on all the sites. There's a lot of good stuff out there. Oh yes, Nerd has transmapped hair too. Good Luck maclean
Thread: Which is the best resolution in Poser? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Paul, Have just read your comments and I'd like more info on map sizes. This is a new one to me. I didn't know they could be changed. Anything that gives me softer lighting is a must! And, Ethan absolutely!! reset your focal length. I'm a photographer and if I use 38mm (Poser default) for a portrait, it's because I want to distort the face. All my Poser cameras are set to 100mm, but anywhere from 90-120 is good. Longer focal length gives flatter features. maclean
Thread: Modeling off photo--need to minimize workspace to share space w/ other windows | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Same problem I've had (after 6 months of heavy Poser use) I would love to have renders I can minimize and call back up for comparison. Only thing I can suggest is paste your original onto the background, then do a render of it (in a new window) and keep it on one side. Not great I'm afraid. If anyone else knows something better, let me know too! And PLEASE Curious Labs....Poser 5 with some way round this! maclean
Thread: a texture question and a lighting question. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
As visque says object colors have to be white, but not just skin. Open up surface materials and go thru the list of body parts....skin, eyebrowa, nipples etc..and turn them one by one to white. You'll see the difference. Also for some bizarre reason, there are two of some (ie eyebrows) Make sure you have them both on white...and save the figure for fiture use with texture maps! Re lighting..as a fashion photographer, I'm driven to despair by Poser's lights. I use one (infinite) directly from the front, and the exact same from behind. The most important setting is your light color. Use a pale reddish-pink for skin tones at 100% intensity. This more or less approximates afternoon sunlight (the best light for gurrrls!!) But post-production is still the best way Go for it! maclean

Thanks Phil. I know whay you're saying makes sense. I guess I'm looking for too much perfection. I'll give it a try and see how it goes with 12 layers. P.S. Love your work! maclean
Thread: My textures won't work | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Frost, Just a suggestion. If you want good information, give details. Which textures...which character? Every Poser character takes a different texture map...Poser 3, 4, male, female. etc. Give us some info please. If you're sure you have the right character and map, follow bloodsong's tips and you'll be OK. Happy rendering! maclean
