Oh yes, really looking good. The cast is gone and the colors look richer. If I had to choose between these two I would have to go with render 2, the top one on this post. I like that distant, greenish, vegetation canopy misty look out in the background behind the characters. The wolf has an excellent inquisitive pose BTW. I like it!

Wow AS! Really knocking some socks off now! Nice touch the tea pot and cups, good thinking Isstrout! When you wrote about water and reflections, I was thinking showing the tea in the cups with it's fluid reflections off of the lit lantern.

Lawyers are way too expensive. When I first looked into copyrighting several pieces of my work for a private company I contacted several lawyers and they were asking something in the neighborhood of between $600 - $1,500 U.S.D. where all I needed to do was file and register with the copyright office for a nominal fee of $25 bucks (at the time) and that was for several pieces (batch filing). It's that registration number that will win your case for you if it should come to litigation. If it should then come to litigation it is then that I would suggest that you hire a lawyer since you can then counter sue for legal expenses and it wont have to come out of your pocket.

In any case, try dumping all the contents of the CD into an empty temporary folder on your hard drive. Then using Windows explorer, look in this folder and note the file's extension format and the individual file sizes. You can safely disregard all those files that are 1kb. since those are your "cda" files. Then rename the others to the "zip" file extension and then try to uncompress them using your unpacking software (Winzip or some such animal). Good luck!

As was said, your stuff is automatically copyrighted when you affix your copyright notice to it. But as was also mentioned, that does not effectively stop anyone else from grabbing it. You could pursue the issue through the courts and you may even win your case using this copyright procedure and they will even stop the other person from using it in the future, but chances are you will not be entitled to any financial settlements on your work that may have been gotten from the use of it. And you couldn't sue for legal expenses as a result. In order for you to be compensated for monetary gains on your work and to be able to counter sue for legal expenses you would need to copyright your work through the U.S. Copyright Office by filling out the required forms and a small fee (use to be like $25 U.S.D. but may now be more)and registering your work with them. They require something like two perfect copies of your work.Thread: importing Poser .obj files problem ! | Forum: Bryce
Also, if while in 3D Studio Max you apply uvw mapping and click on the radio dial for xyz to uvw mapping parameter, then and apply the object's texture and export to 3ds format, bryce will get the object together with it's textures. Only thing is you'll have to play around with the bump texture.
Thread: importing Poser .obj files problem ! | Forum: Bryce
I've also experenced this problem but in my case, I was trying to import a bunch of objects as one and found that by importing each object seperatly from Poser did the trick. True, I had to rearrange everything once imported, but everything maintained their texture maps.

I agree with quixote, at first I thought they were both wearing thigh high boots. That first tree on the right seems to have a shine to it. I don't know if it's the texture or actual shine but real trees don't reflect that much light so it detracts from the realism. The texture of the tree at left is spot on! Hummm...the other trees might benefit from that same texture at different frequencies, orientations, color manipulation and sizes, what do you think? I also think there is too much radiosity green lighting giving it a yellow/green cast, perhaps it should be a little more subdued and maybe also some other colors like blues added (lights) to help balance the color contrast. The image itself is quite appealing. Seems to have a nice airy and fresh feel to it, like newfound love. I like your idea of adding substance to your readings by extracting a visual from it. Very nice indeed, thank you!

AgentSmith, Clay, does Susan (AuntieAlias) ever make an appearance on this forum? I remember how they use to offer those trips to Bryce Camp for a week or two. Sure wish I could have made one of those.

MadDog31, I really think you wont be disappointed. As has been said, this book is considered to be the Bryce bible of books. Its a rather thick book with lots and lots of information. Not the kind of book that you could expect to read in a night and think that the next day youll have total control over the software. To the contrary, it will make you aware of Bryces intricacies and how wonderfully complicated this relatively reasonably priced piece of software really is. Im sure you will spend many nights up, exploring through the book, trying to understand the workings of this awesome program. Remember, most important of all, is to have fun. Enjoy!

Well, yes, that's my point that, like you, in my attempt to bring the brightness of a moonlit night scene, all my lunar features were washed out. And yes, I could have post-worked it so that the moon would show the features but, also like you, I decided to leave it as is, maybe in some future rework. LOL...and yes, the sky lab did show it to be the Bryce moon. I'm in agreement that it's difficult and challenging jugling a nightscene with its shadows and nocturnal glow. I find that Bryce, as great a program as it is, is sometimes limited and would not allow for the finer adjustments that sometimes have to be done outside the package using other software.

Tjohn, LOL...hmmmmmmm, yes, I see what you mean about being a clichimage. Anyway, I found that I had to subdue the lighting in such a way that the textures in the foreground were barely visible. The ferns just barely have color, the closest tree texture grain is barely discernable and the wolf's fur can hardly be made out. Because of the moonbeams and apparent brightness of the full moon, the glare from the fog wiped out all traces of the lunar features. You could post-work it so that the moon retains its surface features. I think that the stars are too pin pointed and IMHO need some stellar aberrations to give them that twinkling appearance. Overall, I know what you mean by it being a compelling image .Thread: Revamped an old B3 image, wot do you reckon? | Forum: Bryce
Just want to say I think it's really a nice scene. Seems tranquil to me. I guess it's the colors, they're soothing to the eye. I particularly like the raging water.

Wow Zhann, that is bad news. It's terrible when people get caught in a situation like that. Must be very stressful for your entire family. Just want to say that I'm sorry you gotta go through this ordeal. As for the software, I'm already jugling 3D Studio Max, Rhino, Amapi, Bodypaint, Canoma, Poser, Bryce, Photoshop, Painter, Paintshop Pro, Illustrator and a few other minor software packages. Although I must say, Cinema 4D looks very enticing. I need to keep control since when I see graphic programs, I'm like a kid in a candy shop, gotta have em all! Good luck to you and your family and hope you will still be keeping in touch with us.
