In fact these are only meshes. Points in imaginary 3D space, connected to form polygons. V1 mesh. We can do better: V2 mesh Michael mesh: looks good. Idea: lest re-use this. Steph. We can do better with this idea of re-using meshes: one unimesh. Result: V3, M3, SP, D. You can change this mesh into the form of a cloud, and all textures will fit. Do it correctly, and all morphs will work. etcetc

I'd dome so many...now I know what was in the back of my mind: Unreal City. Remember? "Under the brown fog of a winter dawn a crowd flowed over London Bridge. So many...I hadn't thought death had undone so many...Sight short and infrequent were exhaled, and each man fixed his eyes before his feet, went up the hill and down King William's Street, to where Saint Mary Woolnoth kept the hours with a crack at the final stroke of nine..." etc etc. (TS Eliot) That's the atmosphere.

I know the situation...Being a painter, I spend less time with my brushes and pencils than before, but at least I'm closer to painting with Poser than you as a writer. It does cost a lot of money, agreed, but I guess that once you are "installed", the wild mountain stream will become a calm river. With some rapids, agreed.
Anyway: good luck to you, and never ever stop believing in your talent. Perhaps one day, when things have settled down and the inner lake is once again clear and limpid, you'll discover that both can work together... I just visited a part of your gallery. Some simple browsing. Now I am speechless. I was about to delete what I wrote above, but I don't. I wrote without knowing. You know that both images and writing can go together. To be honest: your world is very serious, even a tad pessimistic (remember Auden: Put the car back. If life fails, what's the use of going to Wales?) but your images make me silent. I cannot see them without feeling my own vibration change and find resonance with what you show. Frightening. I still wish you luck. As much as before, but I ask you not to delete your gallery. I'll need lots of time to assimilate it all...

Thanks, dr Geep. Your tutorials are of a very high quality, which is why I looked for one on this subject over at fallencity. And now you post this link yourself...thanks again!

Thread: Where to find skin?? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
There is a good tutorial in the tut section here at R. on how to texture V3. But you will need photographs, and prefereably high-res ones taken with a good and uniform lighting. This means: professional work. As professional means making an income from, these are sold. For the price you pay for it, you won't hire a model and pro lighting setup.

Thread: So, with the discount, what would it cost to join Daz and buy the full V3? | Forum: DAZ|Studio
It's not $29.95 monthly, sorry. This is only for to join and for the first month. At a first glance, joining the club is not really advantageous if you only buy V3 with head and body morph pack. But before you take this decision, look at what you can get for less than $2 a piece. As for textures: try at least Vali's free ones in the freestuff here at R. Best to start with is undoubtably V3: most add ons, and most morphs. I just joined, and that monthly voucher hasn't shown up yet. But it will.

Thread: Photoshop postwork plugin | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
My preferred plug ins are from www.thepluginsite.com Focalblade does an incredible job when it comes to sharpening, blurring, deblurring, soft-focus etc. To do the same in Photoshop (using edge masks that can be changed whilst working etc) would require much more time. Colorwasher is superb for enhancing colors, adding contrast etc. Both come with a very good manual, are very easy to use (most of the time the algorithms do a better job in manual mode that an experienced user can obtain in much more time. Only real seasoned pro's can do better. What I like about them is that all tools are on one (two for the two plugins) interface. Thanks for the info on Luce. I'll certainly try it out.

Thread: Are CL and DAZ currently similar to Apple and MS? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
CL does not have a Steve Jobs, and DAZ hasn't injected money in CL to help it survive. This said, Poser was mainly a mac app in the beginning, and its translation to PC has been a bit awkward. Things did look bad for P5 one day, and the whole community staggered. At that moment, DAZ started making their own app because it looked like Poser had no future. Since that Japanese company has taken CL under its wings, things are changing. But DAZ should not stop as most Poser users work only with Daz' meshes (V, M, SP, dragon,.... Seeing Posette or Don is rare. To come back to your original comparizon, without Intel no G4, and without Win2K and Linux, no OSX. Concurrence is a good thing for price, and for quality.

Thread: Gone and done it... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Glad you mention this, but why is this so hidden? Having to check that oine wants to cancel installation to get to the option for browsing seems to me a bit bizarre.

Thread: Gone and done it... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
While installing, I made several backups of my runtime folder: -a first one with the P5 stuff (that I didn't install as I have no use for it), then, after this copying and setting P5 to open a blank studio, I deleted all items except for ground.tif and camera.obj (P5 wants them at startup). -a second one with all the DAZ stuff I have. I think Daz does an incredible job, but their.exe files for installing are so slow...and offer no option to browse to where you want everything installed. -a third one with DAZ plus the things I bought at Renderosity (and a few on other sites, I confess) -a final fourth with the freestuff. Everything is neatly organized, and there were no problems with wrong files or references. Advantage: I have the original Runtime, and can, if I want to, go back to only DAZ, or everything except for freestuff etc etc. Indeed, more work at the start, but no nuisance later on. My two Eurocents.

Thread: Poser on a laptop .... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
My personal opinion, and without naming any brands: 1/ a Centrino 1.4 or 1.6 works just fine and produces less loise than a P4. It also is compareable with a P4 that is much faster: C1.4 is appr a P4 2.4GHz 2/ try to get one with an extended 1024(so this is larger)x768 view (comes in handy for the library) 3/ get at least 512MB DDRam 4/ get a real vid card, no shared "act-as-if", 64MB is opk as Poser cannot make use of OpenGL etc. If possible, see that you have an output for an external monitor. Advantage: at home you connect to your desktop monitor if you want to. 5/ If you happen to have a desktop, see that you can network files, but don't install Poser on both as they may not be active together (Eula!!!) 6/ get an usb mouse, prefereably with light instead of a ball
