On my Mac, I just assign lots of RAM to the text editor. Then the whole file can be kept in RAM and searches are (relatively) fast.
Thread: Help - How can I save 5 magnets at the same time? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Isn't it true that when you "select subset" it does not ask if you want a "smart prop"? So that when you load these 5 magnets back, you will have to parent all the bases (and perhaps even zones) by hand? Of do I remember incorrectly?

For the light casting the shadow: increase "Map Size" say to 1024. Randering will then take longer, so maybe you only want to do that at the end, but it will reduce the shadow jumping.
Thread: You know you've been using Poser too much when... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Yipes, it happened to me! I guess I'm officially in the "too much" camp... I was walking across the campus, I saw a woman standing there. She had some bumps of some kind on the back of her knee. I was thinking that this is one of the bad things with Posette...
Thread: How big are your screens? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Here's a unique thought! When disigning web pages, utilize the HTML capability to wrap text (and graphics) to whatever window size is present! What a concept! The web page designer wanting to take over my screen--that's just a power trip...
Thread: uploading to free stuff | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I, too, agree that this is a problem. How about for Renderosity to allow .html URLs for links, not restricting to .sit and .zip only --- because the free web space providcers are less and less allowing external links to .zip files. Do you think there is a chance that Renderosity will change its policy?

Unfortunately, there is no Bink compressor for Mac. And there is only barely a Bink player for Mac.

In your Poser folder, is there a folder called "Runtime"? Look in there for "textures". Put texture files (JPEG, GIF, TIFF, BMP) there (or in subfolders). Now in Poser, select the figure or prop you want to apply the new texture to. Use command-U(Mac)/control_U(Windows) to get the Materials dialog (or choose it from the menu). Choose the figure/prop and material you want to texture from the pop-up menus. Unless there are other instructions, make the texture color pure white (the one on the left). Then use the "Load" button to find your new texture.
Thread: Multpiple characters in a scene is this in the manuals. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Another thing if you are going to be movie a figure (except by its "body" or its feet): turn off IK. You said >>>I think there is something wrong with the meshes I created<<< Does this mean that you can move characters OK when using the ones that come with Poser?
Thread: Video Compression | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
The best codec depends on your source material. But I also use a method mentioned here: Render uncompressed (takes the same amount of time) and THEN work on compression, try several settings, etc. Even slow codecs are faster than rendering it again! For a Poser animation I made, my experiments gave me confidence in Sorensen compression. It can be viewed with Quicktime on both Mac and Windows.
Thread: Basic Poser Questions - NEW USER | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Am I able to create my own people without additional software You cannot create meshes for new characters within Poser. So I guess the answer is "NO." But there are free/inexpensive mesh programs for this. But perhaps "your own people" means just new morphs and textures for existing characters. Then the answer is "YES." Photoshop is fine for making textures, transparency maps, and such.
