The lighting is really good, I found (still do sometimes) that sooo hard to get right and it can really make or break a pic. Well done :)

Re: the hair, maybe you need to alter the colour of the skullcap as well?? (guessing here, I haven't played with P5 hair too much, it hogs too much processor!) Apart from that, it's a nice-looking man. The eyes seem a little off though, maybe due to the strong reflection in them, which seems at odds with the light source in the render.

To make it into a texture you would need to make it seamless first. I usually use the Tesselation filter from flamingpear.com - works in PSP or PS. Then just plug it into your node and set the tiling rate to whatever looks good.

Good grief, they look painful. Hope your next character is a plastic surgeon to give her a reduction!

Thread: Anyone here use 3D studio Max/ | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
There isn't a free one that will import animations. Obj2Max from Habware will import a still model, that's it. Basically, if you want it, you're going to have to pay. Creating a plug-in to import animations would be such a mammoth task that I can't imagine ANYONE doing it and releasing it for free.

Thread: Is it really my art? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
"That's why I want to be an artist, because I want to be someone." What? You want to be a penniless, starving, underappreciated someone in a garret? (j/k) To me, that statement indicates that you don't think of yourself as an artist yet. That doesn't mean you won't get there or that the works you currently produce aren't without merit. I'm not an artist (visually... I have a higher opinion of my writing) - not yet. But I enjoy what I do, and sometimes, with the help of Poser, Bryce, whatever, I manage to make something that looks at least a bit like the picture I had in my head to start with. That's art - the pic in my head. Maybe I haven't always got the hang of translating that to the screen yet, but hey, it's all good practise :)

Oh I so know where you're coming from. I have trouble finishing one piece because I'm already thinking about the next. I have at least 5 unfinished pieces in my WiP folder.

I'm enjoying it. I haven't even fiddled with my default options yet, but already I can feel that this is way easier on my eyes. Black is well-outdated anyway... (says the woman who's currently designing a new site on a black background, heheh)

Thread: Victoria 3 !MAT V3 Maps HCHi | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Anti-aliasing helps a lot with photo textures. You never know quite what you've got til you do it. With those maps, there should be about 7 options for different skin tones in the MAT pose folder. Select the skin tone you want and THEN apply the natural or makeup mat pose. If you want her paler than you can get through that, then you'll need to either adjust the lighting, or open the texture file in Photoshop or another graphics program and adjust it manually. You'll need to apply the same adjustment to the body map as well, otherwise you'll get a seam around the neck area. Remember Victoria is based on a woman of about 30 or so, so those maps will never make her look like a teenager! You might find some younger-looking maps in the marketplace. Vic also has a morph for younger, IIRC, which softens the face considerably.

I don't know Cararra so I'm afraid I'm clueless on that end of things... is this a single-texture object then? Will P5 not just let you plug it in to the diffuse colour node? You might need to play around with the UV setting a bit...

With objects I've imported, I've usually found that the material room brings in the textures saved in the .mtl file, and applies them more or less correctly (some need tweaking). I'm assuming this is an object which was textured in it's original building program? If you've made a non-textured object and then imported it, then you'll need to apply the textures via the material room just as you would with any other figure. That's assuming that either it's all one texture, or that the object is correctly split into material groups (zones) so that Poser knows what texture to put where. I've found that the more complex the object, the more likely Poser is to apply materials correctly. Bump maps nearly always need changing, too. Poser is a lot less sensitive to bump maps than other d modelling applications.
