Deecey: I would appreciate it a lot if you could work up a quick tutorial for that. I don't own ZBrush (living in Europe I have to add 25% of VAT to the price) but it might influence me for making the "big decision" after all...

Thread: Poser 5, ridiculously slow!!! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
If I may add: several magazines now come with a free copy of Cinema4D r6 on them. Grab one if you can. Poser5 renders tend to be unnecessary slow, most certainly when you increase the main shadow map to something believable like 4096 and the others at half or a 25% of this....

Thread: Poser 5, ridiculously slow!!! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
First I started up Poser5,I imported V3, set her as default, and closed Poser. Next I went in Windows Explorer to Poser5's main runtime folder and I deleted everything I never use (I only kept Don and whatshername). Poser opens in twenty-three seconds flat with all V3's head and bodymorphs loaded, and V3 fully textured. (I have three textures/MATMOR's installed, four Hairs, and two lights sets) Having made a copy of the original runtime, I can put it back whenever I should ever need anything from it. (XPPro and 1,5GB DDRam)

Yes, I have V3 installed. I am used to working in Cinema 4D, and I have to get used to Poser5. Thanks for the ambient color tip! I will upload an image showing those lines later on, or evt a solution if I find one. Thanks for helping!

Thread: V3 in downloads runtime in P5 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks. Thefiles will probably be a variation of text-based obj files and contain some pointing to- information. Just like other obj files and textures cannot be renamed or moved without problems. Wish I had experience with P4 though... BTW: another question: In some tuts and tech notes, it is stated that only one level subfolders is permitted inside the character, pose etc folders. I noticed that in P5 (the poses for the boy for example) many more levels seem to be possible. Anyone an idea how deep this goes?

Thread: V3 in downloads runtime in P5 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Right...so if I get it right, I can place V3, SP etc in another runtime, but I have to load the body and facemorphs into the main runtime... OK... Meanwhile I unionstalled P5, and chose "custom" for installation. THis way, I could choose not to install anything but the basic, which I reduced to Don and Judy HiRes. Thanks!

...which is what I wanted to avoid because I don't want that Poser stuff that's in there: I only work with my DAZ meshes... I know that obj files may not be moved to another location, but these aren't obj but libraries content, and this may be organised, or not? And, finally, the download runtime is for downloaded content isn't it? Thanks for your time, but this is not the solution I am looking for.

Thread: Timid attempt to some | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Well, I deleted my entire gallery because of the hypocrisy of accepting loathsome violence, even sadism, naive nineteenth century patriotism etc, but being shocked by some nudity, and selling female sex meshes but being against images showing what exactly is sold. This said: I agree with the rules for the conquest. And this for the simple reason that if the subject were a landscape, it would be accepted as being ok. And I do find, but that is entirily personal, that the nudity on this site is seldom of a quality that inspires me, which is the main goal of art. Besides: hey, the sellers of clothes also need some help from time to time.

Thread: OT: My Poser New Year's Resolutions | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Me, I bought StephPetite with the head and bodymorphs, and my only resolution for now is to have as much fun as I can have, to dream whenever it pleases me and to watch the grass grow from itself. Goodbye stress, goodbye anxiety, goodbye resolutions: let life organise itself and may I be alert enough to be in the right spot at the right moment. And if I'm not, I won't blame myself or anyone else. 2004: year of the hammock. Or at least: a more comfortable chiar to play puter.

Thread: AHA! Some light on why POSER is NOT well received in other 3D areas. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
It is since I started with organic modelling in Cinema4D that I really realised what a great job DAZ has accomplished. I mean: I can eventually create my own male and female mesh, and I can add bones etc. But this does not mean it would work for everyone. And since the days I saw that nurbs woman on Zygote's site a few years ago, and I see what can now be done with V and M3,and with SP, I say "hats off". You don't have to be Leonardo Da Vinci to be allowed to make a work of art.

And I know photographers who find that using Photoshop or any other digital application is not real photography... It's not only a question of making a digital statue from polygons, but also placing bones to make it moveable, and making the correct mesh to make these movements possible. And those who can do it "better" than DAZ don't waste their time on writing negative stuff on Poser/DazStudio.

Thread: Thoughts on S3 petite so far... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
The "ideal" figure is 8 heads tall. Hero proportions can go up to nine heads, and more. But A very good and realistic set of proportions was developed in the nineteenth century by great anatomists like Paul Richer. This figure is based on a 7 1/2 heads canon. As Khrys wrote, it is not sufficient to make the head a bit bigger: you have to adapt all proportions, and therefore you need other apps than Poser (Lightwave, Cinema4D etc) because you will have to tweak the complete mesh. I find Khrys' and Bijouchat's arguments very sound, and I probably will buy SP the moment I can afford the investment. For me also, Vicky is too "ideal". I only have to be shure that the textures I have bought for V3 will fit SP also.

I e come to this forum because I got a mail by DAZ stating they have a new character, Stephanie3 "petite". I took a good look, compared with V3, and the numbers of poly's is identical. They claim, and why shouldn't this be true, that the UV maps are the same so all textures etc can also be used. Sounds good. But: 1/ What is the advantage this mesh offers? Soulhuntre says that there are less morphs that with V3? 2/ Making a "petite" character from V3 is possible, and not that difficult: make it between 90 and 95% tall, and make the head a bit bigger, so you get a 7 1/2 head character instead of an 8 header, (number of heads that goes into the total length of the figure), adapt length of legs etc... 3/ The main problem with V3: the armpit being too high, is not solved. (This probably cannot be solved due to technical problems with the incredibly complex set of muscles that join the arm to the torso.) So, without wanting to be negative (I really find the DAZ' figure meshes the sole survival of Poser, and, working in 3D I say hats off to their results): what are S3 Petite's advantages? Why do we "need" her?
