D3D has many wonderful tools I'd like to buy, but most of them (like Poser File Editor) are separate apps that run only in Windows. As a Mac user, I'm confined to tools that run inside Poser itself, such as python scripts or William's prop-loaded Pose Magic.
Thread: Shortcut to cleaning up parameter groups? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks for the disclosure! Nothing like unwittingly making little criticisms without much foundation to the person who created the thing. :)
I see what you're saying... Ignore the mess in Poser's parameters panel and do all posing tasks from within Poser Magic. I wonder if you even need the parameters panel open in that case?
Can Poser Magic auto-load when Poser starts up? So many useful Poser tools have no ability to do this, when it seems (to the layman) to be a simple thing to include. There I go again, talking without knowing what I'm talking about.
If its a universal python script it should work on Mac. I have to think about spending $26 to find out. I am very tempted, because I could find such a tool very useful. The Poser parameter panel is the bane of my existence.

No, I realize this. I'm not looking for an ultra-simple tool that performs one universal task on groups and does it the same way every time. It would need to have options to be tweaked to allow for individual needs and wildly varying group structures presented by different vendors.
I would not be surprised if such a thing did not exist, but perhaps some snazzy scripter will see this, think "Hey, that IS a pain in the a$$) and take up the challenge.

Quote - imax...have you ever tried Pose Magic products? Everything you could need in posing is on one parameter list...ONE. I've carefully grouped everything in a logical manner, but it would be a heck of a lot easier for you to group to your liking AND, on the further-up side, you'll have even more control of joint posing than you would by going to each individual body part.
I've looked at the new Pose Magic Pro that just came out. Amazingly, it is a Poser add-on, not a separate app that is restricted to PC only. (Vendors of such tools should realize that Macs play a signfiicant role in the 3D and creative universes, much more so than the business world).
At first glance it looks like a great tool for posing, though perhaps slightly pricey at $26 here at Rendo. They seem proud of the fact that they used it to pose a woman and baby in a fairly simple position in 6 minutes, which didn't seem all that impressive to me (but I'm somewhat facile at posing with Poser's standard methods, and it did take awhile to get to that level)
Still, I'd probably buy it if it did the things I'm talking about. It is not evident from its description that it can. Are you sure that it manages / rearranges / deletes parameters and groups, not just poses the figure?

No, even I am not anal enough to worry about each each finger (with 3 joints each) and toe! That's 40 parts right there.
But Hip, Abdomen, Chest, Neck, Head, 2 collars, 2 shoulders, 2 forearms, 2 hands, 2 thighs, 2 shins and 2 feet are 19 body parts. It can get pretty tedious cleaning up sloppy structures.
Some vendors don't bother to remove unneeded body parts before shipping their products. So you find a sock, for example, that has all the upper torso parts included. Or a hat that has legs, feet and toes. Each part with a full set of empty groups, right down to the Community and Daz groups. These vendors drive me crazy.
I assumed there must be some utility or script that (some) vendors use to clean up, delete and hide unneeded groups and parameters. Such vendors get my repeat business!
PhilC's Pocketknife includes scripts for deleting and hiding morphs for an entire figure in one pass, but they don't affect the groups that hold the morphs.
Thread: Super Conforming broken: How to fix? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - What I did find in the end, with a bit of help, was that superconforming only works if the figure you are conforming to already has the morphs loaded before you add the sc garment to the scene.
Obviously V4 has all the morph dials that are included in the SC garment. They're all set to the desired parameters before the SC is loaded. Not sure what you mean?
Thread: Super Conforming broken: How to fix? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I could reinstall the clothing, but my goal is to have the injected FBM and superconforming co-exist in the same clothing items. (I have injected GND4 and Alice fits into clothing because they are custom morphs injected into V4, not dialed morphs. In some cases I have created the GND4 or Alice fits myself and generated a FBM)
Some superconforming products come with additional custom FBMs, so there is a way the vendors do this while preserving their SC functionality.
MorphManager is PC only, I believe, and I use a Mac. Does the Wardrobe Wizard built into P8 offer any help in this regard? It seems to work only with supported V4 figures, Alice and GND4 are not among them and not available in the plug-ins that can be purchased,
Thread: Ways to copy morphs between .cr2 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
One way to do it without 3rd-party software or scripts is to simply copy-paste. That is, select the body part or full body, CTL-C, select the corresponding body part or full body, then CTL-V. This pastes the parameter values into any morph dials that have the same name in the target figure. Obviously it doesn't paste the morph dials themselves if they are not already present in the target.

Morphing Clothes is a Windows-only utility, so won't do me any good on my Mac. I'll be interested to see the scalable V4.2 morph, though, to see if I can use it for Vicky for 2nd skins.I have my doubts due to the way vertices are arranged in Vicky's middle chest area, but I hope you can do better than I did. Good luck.
Thread: Bodysuit Cleavage | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Feel like sharing? Mine, too, only looks right with the default V4 chest, but I don't have the ambition to sculpt a different morph for large, small, cleavage, perk, droop, natural, etc. etc. Not to mention the many popular character morphs that use custom breast shapes.
Thread: Bodysuit Cleavage | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
PowerGirl is certainly, uh, blessed by nature. And that is an awesome-fitting skintight outfit. But unless I'm confused, we were talking about how to get that spandex effect in Vicky so that 2nd skins appear to stretch across her chest. Most conforming tops already have it built in.
Thread: Bodysuit Cleavage | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I had an epiphany, too. The reason that the V4 Bodysuit chest spandex morph does nothing when injected into Vicky is that they have different meshes. The bodysuit's mesh is finer, which allows for all those creases, folds and seams. So that morph is pushing and pulling extra vertices that don't exist in Vicky. Duh.
Now if it were possible to select part of Vicky and increase the vertices... Of course then any morph made from that would only work for the person with the altered Vicky.Useless to the general population. Never mind!
Good luck to Santicor in his pursuit of a better chest spandex. At the moment mine is adequate, but not that useful for boobs that are significantly blown up, deflated or moved around.

Thanks for your kind words, santicor. You are correct that Poser's morph tool is not all that great, or all that stable in terms of painting morphs accurately, but I'm not having a crashing problem in P8, the Mac version. But the real problem is that Vicky's vertices are kinda spaced out on her breasts (outside the nipple region) so it's hard to get exactly what you want with the morph tool, or to do really fine mesh work. Thus I can't re-create exactly what the V4 Body suit's spandex morph does. It's painstaking, and not for everybody.
Still it's better than nothing if you don't want Vicky's 2nd-skin shirt to cling like paint to her in-between-breasts zone.

Quote - The real answer is not magnets - it is an outside modeling program such as W3D where you can manipulate single verticies in a very hands-on fashion
Piece of cake - I will work on one.
That's exactly what I did with Poser 8's morph tool, which I admit is not the most precise or powerful tool to use on vertices. I'm sure my effort can be improved upon... go for it. I will be glad to trade mine for a better one. See if you can make it look like the one in V4 Bodysuit, as seen above.
By the way, I think there IS a way to get the Chest Spandex morph from the V4 Bodysuit into V4 herself, I just haven't figured it out. I am able to inject spawned morphs into Vicky, and was able to inject her with Chest Spandex... only nothing happens when the dial is put to 1.

I used P8's morphing tool to "sculpt" her breasts into a sort of smoothed, bridged chest. Then I deleted every morph in her body except for my spandex one and one of the unused PBM channels, in this case #11. Then I used the free Spawn Character script to create the injection morph in Channel 11 and saved it to the Pose library.
This generated INJ and REM icons in the Pose Library (it doesn't generate PNGs, so I did a render to make my own). Since I deleted all other morphs before spawning the injection morph, the only thing it does to Vicky is add a spandex effect to her chest, which can be dialed to zero when unneeded.
It's usefulness is pretty much limited to the stock V4 chest. Make any change to her breasts, or use a morphed character, and the spandex morph starts to look either too little or too much. Sorry about that, it's the best I could do with my limited skills.
I can't imagine trying to do this with magnets. Sure, you could use magnets to drag her breasts together, sort of like the cleavage morph, but you can't use magnets to make a nice smooth bridge between them. At least, I don't know how.
Rendo seems to be up to their armpits (or breasts) in Christmas submissions for the free section, so it might be awhile before it posts.
