Thread: BeyondVR Closing | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks, everyone. I really appreciate the kind words :)
I do have an American carrier that I'll be giving away once I get the files together. It's a bit too detailed, and runs up against Poser's inability to use enough RAM when it has a bunch of planes on it. Maybe Poser will catch up ;)

Thread: Importing .obj files, loss of center | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
If I import an object that is already sized correctly for Poser, then the center is always at the center of the object. If I build it normally, where it is way too large for Poser and must be resized, then the centers are out of sight. I have to enter numbers in the Joint Editor to bring them where they can be seen.
I then grab the crosshairs, from an ortho view, to set it exactly.
Tip: Use Outline display mode to see what you're doing (Ctrl+2, I think).
It seems that Poser assigns the centers when imported, but can't preserve their relationship to the object if resized. Any way around that? I doubt it.

Thread: Has Anyone Every Had This Problem..Poser6 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
A couple of things come to mind. First bump up the ray samples a bit, though this usually shows as bad antialiasing (jagged edges). The other thing is that the map size is set at 1024 as the default. Characters, and some other objects, have much larger texture maps. Set for the size of the largest map used, for optimal results.

Thread: How to make a morph.... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I hope I'm not stepping on anyone's toes here. I haven't had time to read this whole thread, but I want to clear something up. Morphs do not need UV info. It is simply a record of what vertices are moved, how far, and in what direction. The actual object carries the UV info.
I also want to warn you, if this has not been covered, to never use exrtrusion when making a morph. Only move the vertices. Poser will reject any morph that has the wrong number of verts.

Thread: How to lower a landing strut... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Sorry about that, Steve. I don't compress them anymore, but that one is. The valueParms at the beginning are the master dials, and there are 5 lines of code in the rotation channels that are affected. Each will refer to the proper master dial by its internal name. The external names are what appear on the dials in Poser.
The last line in the slave code, that begins "deltaAddDelta," will have a minus (-) or not, depending on whether it takes a positive or negative input to move the way you want it to. In other words, the master dial can be made to always move the object by turning the dial to the right, even if you would have to move it to the left from the body part itself.
Let me know if you need any help. My mail is unavailable right now, but should be okay later.

PS: Glad you like the freebies :)

Attached Link: BeyondVR's Freestuff
Get my F4U Corsair from the freestuff. Open the CR2 in WordPad and check out the code. There is a dial in the body, and code added to the rotation channels involved, which refer to that dial. If you have any questions email me at the address in the readme. I'll be glad to help you. It's not hard at all.John
Thread: UV mapping, how do you do it? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
You have to resave the OBJ you mapped in UVM. The mapping wil apply to it, not the original OBJ. Hope this helps.

Another bit of realism you would not necessarily expect has to do with the elevators: safety rails that pop out of the deck when the elevators are in use. Limits, of course, are used on both. Stay tuned to see what other surprises are in store!

Quote - > Quote - I think that doing it this way it still will be possible to move "back" and "seat" away from each other and from "base".
That's the way parenting works. To move the entire object, select the root part. The other parts will be able to move independently, if selected

You're welcome :) I wish I could tell you who did the tut, but I had an accident earlier this year and lost all my tutorials. Didn't have that one backed up :(

Go to the tutorials section. I'm sure the section has "Poser 5" in the title. The tut you're looking for is about Mask Nodes. It will do what you want with a simple alpha mask you can make easily. Hope this helps.

Thread: Poser 6 and displacement maps? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I think it's very much dependent on what your measurements are set for, feet, centimeters, etc. If it worked in P5 but not P6, that may be the culprit.

Thread: Using Background Shader Node in Poser 6 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I have P6, and I've never had to do that. In fact, when I tried to load a BG through the material room in P5 it never worked. File--Import--background picture does.
I've always used exactly the same aspect ratio, so not sure what the problem is there, or what exactly "basically the same size" means.
One tip for when you do get it to work, if I would work on a scene at a smaller size than my ultimate rendering, even though the BG was at the full size, when I went to render at the full size the BG would still be pixelated as it looked in preview. The fix was to delete the BG just before saving, then reopen the file and set up the render dimensions. Then when the BG was imported again it would render properly.
I hope you get it sorted out.

Thread: WW2 Scene Props | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Yeah, I had trouble with each item having a random color for diffuse. Most didn't have a preview material, so I thought it was trying to combine the two. A couple had preview mats and did it anyway.
I made a "theschell" textures folder, and imported the OBJs as props (uncheck all options). None of them had moving parts, so that made sense anyway. Just a little work, and everything performs fine. Like you said, worth the trouble.
