Tomsde, I have switched over to DS3Advance after having used Poser for nearly 9 years. I have all versions from P4 to PoserPro. So, I had some hard time at the start to get used to Studio's interface but I changed the interface to what I like, added those tools that I wanted to have visible all the time, selected the neat Carrara style and finally found my way around it.
Now I'm using the 64bit version since I have a 64OS and it works like a charm. Compared to PoserPro on my system Studio loads much faster - like 21...22....23 there it is while it's taking PoserPro from 21... 22 .... 34 to open. I found that figures like V4, M4 are loading much faster in Studio too. I was really surprised and thought it's maybe because Studio is 64bit but since I have the 32bit version installed too I tested loading times there and found it just as fast.
DS3Advance comes with a material room - very nifty but takes some time to get used too even if you are familiar with the Poser material room. It has UberEnvironment2 which is easy to use and to adjust. I like the included UberSurface which is a new version of the the EliteHumanSkinShaders (which I prefer over the available skin shaders for Poser).
DS is very stable on my system, loads every Poser Pz3 I throw at it and behaves nicely as it should. Rendertimes depend on the lights you're using, not different from Poser here.
I find working with lights much easier as in Poser since in DS you can actually look through the light like through a camera and that enables you to adjust them easily.
Maybe I'm biased LOL but I can only recommend it and I have been told by friends that they've never thougth they'd ever see me doodling in Studio. Might say a lot about what I thought about Studio before.
I haven't used Poser since I have Studio and I do not see me going back.

Thread: Smith Micro and DAZ new buddies? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
DAZ sells iClone and Crazy Talk too like forever and no one wonders about that. Where's the difference when they offer Poser or doing this little promo thing now? The only people who are constantly assuming that DAZ and the makers of Poser are having a bad relationship are users in most every forum available. That's quite funny.

Btw, Capsces made a morph pack for V4/A4 too called Faerime over at DAZ - looks like it's similar to Kioki for A3.

Thread: Moetan E-Frontier toon figure | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - The character looks a lot like NearMe, but that figure has its own page
graphic.e-frontier.co.jp/poser/near_me/
Moetan is a seperate figure but it can use NearMe clothes, poses and textures. All of those dollies except for the one in the swimming suit and the one in the nighty have been available at Content Paradise Japan. I've bought all 4 from there and when I decided to get the add on pack as well it was all gone and closed :(

Thread: The Galleries at Daz | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Quote - t*** Oops... I spoke too soon... i clicked on more from this artist and saw images I have submited for next month there and you do vote... odd... I wonder when they did that? and was it announced in their forums?
I noticed that too yesterday - there is voting in every gallery now. I have no idea when that started and I don't remember seeing any announcement about it in their forum. And it's not mentioned on the submit page either - there it still states that all gallerie submissions are judged by DAZ except the PC gallery.

Thread: Freak 4 in Poser...? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - That's so typical for both of those companies. Instead of supporting each other, they're waiting for the other to take action to solve their own issues. Then they create a workaround that works only for them, thus creating even more problems.
If others with less resources then DAZ can figure out how to do propagating scaling, then DAZ can. I guess that says enough.
And on what sources are you basing your assumption that it not has been tried to fix the problem before release? But it's always DAZ fault, innit?

Thread: WARNING if you are importing Poser 8 to UK | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
When I pre ordered P7 two years ago EF let me choose between UPS and USPS. I choosed USPS and when the parcel arrived in January in Germany at Frankfurt Airport and was through customs, DHL picked it up and only delivered it to my nearest local customs office. I recieved a note from the customs office to pick up my parcel and to bring the invoice so they can calculate the import tax. There was no additional customs fee on software in January 2008, I only had to pay the 19% import tax and that was about 23 EURO then. And I did not need to pay any additional fees to DHL for delivering my parcel to the customs office.

Thread: Poser 8 advertised! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - Just curious ... If a person had no need for network rendering, or export to a high end 3D application, would he or she want to pay extra for something that wouldn't be used?
That explains why there are two versions. There are a lot of people that don't need all of the features that the Pro version has.
For those people it has Poser Pro base ;-)

Thread: The Galleries at Daz | Forum: DAZ|Studio
It's actually very easy to figure out: the PC gallery images that are uploaded are being displayed immediately, probably in the order they've been uploaded. Once the PC members are allowed to vote on the images the order of display will change and reflect the votes of the members. There will be only about 30 images kept in the gallery and ony the first three entries will recieve a voucher.
The other galleries are judged by the DAZ jury. Those images will only show up in the new month gallery when the final pics have been picked by the DAZ jury and everyone who has got their pic in there will recieve a voucher.
Way back on the old times you didn't get a thing for submitting an image. The only reward you've got was the fame to have your pic accepted and displayed in their gallery. And I have to admit that was enough for me to be happy since it was never easy to get an image accepted and displayed in their gallery. Oh, and it was only one gallery at that time.

Quote - > Quote - Yep, looks odd plus this improved interface takes much more space up than the old one.
You can set it up however you like. For example, here's it arranged to be like the Poser 7 UI: tools, lights and camera on the background shell, document and paramters floating and the library docked to the right.

Thread: why is texture filtering on the DAZ figures an issue these days? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - I have my shader set to 1.05 and sync.
I'm finding that if I set the Filter rate higher (it says to raise rate for anti-aliasing)
I end up with a scattering of pixels not rendering, leaving holes in the render.Have you noticed this too?
You mean the Post filter size? I've never changed the Post filter size but left it at the default setting 1, only changed from box to sync. The Min Shading rate is set to 0.2 and the Pixel Sample at 12. But I'm going to test these next time I'm doing a render. Will see if I get the same results as you've mentioned.
