I'm not complaining and I don't have any issues with the policy. All of the items that I have purchased are now archived to DVD-R. Like I stated in my initial post, I was just curious why certain items had the DL buttons and others didn't. I wasn't sure if that was because The Tailor is now only available from DAZ3D, that type of thing. I appreciate the fact that you do try to keep the downloads available to us whenever possible. Because of this, I decided right from the start that anything I buy will be purchased from Renderosity. The only time I purchase things from other online stores is if it's something that I can't buy here. Even though I do have the items recorded to DVD I'm still paranoid about losing them. Thanks, Brian

I'm not sure I follow you. When I go to my "purchases" page there is a download button for each of the items that I purchased. With the exception of about three items. Are you saying that once an item has been downloaded that the download button is supposed to disappear? If so, that's not happening. In fact, I downloaded a number of the items again the other day to see if any of the other items had been updated. I found out that one of the vendors had put up an update but I'd never received a notification. I thought that I was able to go back and download again (in the event of a hard drive failure, etc.). Did you install Poser 4.03 over Poser 3 (ie in the same directory)? It is possible that in such a case it did not overwrite/replace/erase all necessary files. Brian
Thread: Explosion tutorial question- (Also future tutorial ideas) | Forum: Carrara
Kix, I liked the lamp tutorial very much because it made use of a variety of tools, not just focusing on one single thing like the Spline modeler. It's really nice to see how to make things come together in the "big picture" so to speak. Up to this point I haven't really offered feedback on any of the tutorials. I've only had Carrara for a little over two weeks and I'm jumping around so much from one thing to another just to see what it can do. I didn't want to bother the authors with my ignorance until I have a better idea what I'm talking about! Thank you for taking the time to make these tutorials and for making them available to us. If I were to make a request for a future tutorial, it would be something that puts the Vertex Modeler through its paces. The Spline Modeler is much easier to use and is (I think) far more accurate. But there are some things that I just can't get the Spline Modeler to do. I was hoping that the Vertex Modeler would be more flexible and would allow me to do what I want to. It seems like it will, but I just don't know how to do it. I've read Chapter 9 of the C2 manual (the Vertex Modeler) about 3 times now and still don't quite get it. But this is all probably a lot more than you wanted to know! :D Anyway, the only other comment that I have is that I like tutorials that can be downloaded as PDF files. That way they're easier to print and I don't have to flip back and forth between MSIE and Carrara (or whatever program).

Awesome!! That works!! Thank you both so much. That was very, VERY frustrating. What's worse is that since this is only my second week with C2 I don't know if it's me screwing up or the program. I'll have to drop Eovia a line. My list of issues keeps on getting longer. "Is there some reason you cannot use a bump-map to accomplish what you are doing ?" Carrara 2.0 was a recent upgrade/purchase, so I am trying to use this a simple test project to learn how the modeling tools work. Or at least, I THOUGHT it was going to be simple!! :D Also, I am not fluent enough yet to go about making a bump map. I understand what a bump map is and how to apply one to an object, but not necessarily how to make one. I think the steps are: 1) Export the object as an OBJ 2) Use UV Mapper to create a template 3) Paint the bump map with a 2D paint program 4) Apply the bump map to the object. If this is accurate, I need a 2D paint program and all I have right now is the Paint program that comes with Windows.

Thanks a bunch gfxzone! That works and it's very easy to do. It is also nice because you can use the x/y/z boxes in the properties panel or the alignment tools to line up objects. Brian

Here is the tutorial that I mentioned... I'll browse around and see if I can find these messages. BrianThread: Another Newbie Question | Forum: Carrara
Thanks again Eric. I found Toon! in the manual on page 515, and Anything Glows on pg. 336. I'm discovering that it's easier to find things using the table of contents then the Index. Brian

I'm hoping that the new strand based hair is ultra-flexible. I want to be able to control what body part(s) get "hairy". Brian
Thread: Another Newbie Question | Forum: Carrara
Eric, Thanks a bunch! I tried it out on a couple of primitive objects to see how it looks. Are there any help files or documentation for Anything Glows or Toon! plug-ins? I looked over the Anything Glows tutorial on your web site. In another thread you mentioned Anything Grows 2 being available in 2-3 months. Will that be a free upgrade? I had been thinking about picking that up this week. If it's not then I'll just wait... I still haven't figured out what I'm doing with Carrara yet anyway!! :) Thanks, Brian
Thread: Terrain Modeler Tutorials? | Forum: Carrara
I dropped a terrain object into my scene and used the zero edges filter to make it look sort of like an island. I used the Sandstone shader so it doesn't look like a big gray blob.
I've also put down an infinite plane that I hope to make look like an ocean. I used the Seawater shader and changed the color to a blue color. Now when you look at the picture you can still see the flat edges of the terrain.
Somewhere it was mentioned that you can "jump into" a different modeler, so I'm hoping that once the terrain is generated it can be opened with the vertex modeler for tweaking. If you can do that I haven't figured out how. :(

Don, I happen to agree with Eric. Also, I noticed that there are still items listed in the store. If I were to buy item(s), would the money go to her family ? Brian
Thread: New pic from upcoming Anything Grows 2 | Forum: Carrara
"Anything Glows and Grows do play nicely together" What exactly does that mean? Does this mean that you can't use them both in the same scene? Or that you can't make something you created with Anything Grows glow with Anything Glows? Brian
