Wonderful excellent work Michelle. But I knew they would be great. Don't consider myself a pro, but I do work as an assistant for one and do work on the side for myself. So here goes. The only stopping people from scanning or printing themselves is their concsious. My boss and I still use the proof system for clients. One it gives them something visible to hold and look at, as well as family and friends who might not have a pc yet. It also usually leads to some extra cash as most will buy all the proofs if they are reasonably priced, at 3 bucks a pop you can make some quick change since sitting fees should have covered your costs for it already. For the cd, I use them as an extra. My boss, not yet, she feels rural areas aren't ready for it. She's a bit stone aged. Just burned 10 cd's of a wedding I did last month for archiving and to correct for overexposure. Cause sometimes equipment fails and you don't know it did. I always include a cd for the couple, cost of course included in my fee. Would love to see a wedding done by you.. Would be some sweet shots. Weddings are a blast to do. And the anxiety is a good thing, it means you care about doing it right. If you can get into seniors, and get your name out there. Scads of money to be made. If you're good, and you are, you can make more at that than you can at weddings. We average between $300-$1000 after costs. And that's in rural Iowa. I know some photogs are charging $250-$500 just for their sitting fee. I say go for it Michelle..

Let's see, there is 3 4x5 crowns, 1 tlr rollei, a lieca and the other 2 I have no clue. Those belonged to his friend. Nope, didn't get the jacket but the lieca resides in a place of honor among my collection. And unfortunately it rained here for the better part of the day so I stayed inside and worked on my dreaded honeydo list. 3 items down another 5 added on.

You got that right Michelle, really tough exposure to correct. But a little easier then a few I had that were really bad. As far as older, well just remember you asked for em. L I have scads I am slowly working on scanning in. Some from mid 1800's on. Can't wait to get to my grandfathers from WWII. He's the one I got my passion for it from.

Geeez, I almost forgot. There is Durango, Silverthorne in southern Colorado. And it's in Silverthorne I believe that they still have the old narrow gauge railroad still running. Lots of great looking canyon areas down there.

Hmmmmm.. Let's see in Arizona I have always wanted to go to Antelope Canyon and spend a few days trapped by the ever changing colors of the canyon walls. Colorado, home sweet home, far too many places to even begin listing here. But some of my favorite hiking/photo places are Lost Creek Wilderness, Mt Evans wilderness area, Rocky Mt National park, the flatirons in Boulder. Not sure if you'd be going anywhere near Carlsbad but that should make for a few nice shots. What about Lake Tahoe area. I have seen some fantastic images from there. One last suggestion, maybe pick up or go to the library and scan the travel mags for Arizona, New Mexico and such.

Great site Donald. Well laid out and super easy to navigate. Tons of great images that loaded quick, even for us still on dialup. The only thing I might suggest is the text for your descriptions under the images. The size or the color of the font makes it a bit rough to read. Maybe increase the size by 1 or darken it by a shade or two? Definitely a pity you lost the model and textures for Aeryn. Love the look you got in there. Would have been a very sweet series. THanks for sharing with us. Doug :)

I kinda lean towards the color version. Mainly because of the red car, I like that red blur, and the color of the crossing lights. All the angles and lines keeps you looking for something you didn't see before, especially in the b/w version, at least for me. Straining my eyesight for the Ritz camera I bought some film at somewhere near there I believe a couple years back. But seriously, I like it either way. Wouldn't mind seeing more personally. Doug

Here's a link that most competitions I know of follow if this helps you any.I kinda like the boots. With all that is going on at the moment in the world, I think it makes a statement. Which should have some impact.
And I really like the pencils one. Makes me want to know what the rest of the drawing is.
Best of luck Michelle. Know you'll do good. :)

Thread: B&W Film? | Forum: Photography
Sorry Misha, I probably should have explained that better. Yeah, they are just printing it onto B&W paper instead. For me that was something new. I am just now learning about the magic that happens in there. The hairlight is very sharp in the print and scan. You can even see each individual eyelash on the far eye. I lost alot when I shrunk it down. I am on the wife's machine and don't PS installed on it. Give the man a cigar, medium format was the correct answer. I use the contax at the studio. Really love that camera, sharp damn lenses. As for the film scanning. I was hesitant to post those as I know the scan has fingerprints and dust on it. But sadly, I am stuck having my boss scan my prints (only I and the lab get to fondle my negs). And heaven forbid I mention cleaning the glass on the scanner. Sucks being an assistant sometimes. But hey, I do get free use of the studio whenever I want and the cameras I can't afford myself. L
Thread: Selling Prints | Forum: Photography
Hmmm, depends on whether you're counting portraits, still life, nature, landscapes and other forms. I sell my services for portrait work that I do on my own time when I'm not working in the studio. Occasionally some buy the artsy fartsy things I like to do. I have sold a few still life works and a few nature. Mostly to a couple of local artsier shops near where I live. I would probably try for selling more, but I live in a rural area where art is not the most appreciated thing. Personally I see nothing wrong with selling ones work. I would sell more if I could. There's always a new toy I need to buy for my gadget bag. But like most in here, making a big assumption here, I do it because it is what I enjoy doing. Pricing, hmmmm. I guess whatever you feel you can get for it. Kind of depends on where you're selling it at. Here I people hedge at spending more the 25-50 for what would sell for at least 100 or far more in larger cities.
