What's different about this compared to conventional "artwork" is that she is selling us not just the product, but the license for use in our own projects also. If you read most EULA they'll have a clause on derivative work. It's the same reason we can't modify a DAZ mesh and sell it. It may be difficult to prove in some cases, but that doesn't make it ok.

It's called derivative work. Modified beyond recognizable or not, if it's proven, it's infringement.

an innocent explanation for blatant infringement? That'll be interesting to hear..... As I said before I can't fathom one plausible enough to excuse it...

I'm sad to say that now all of ByteMeOk's textures are in question in my mind. Now they're worthless to me for commercial uses. I'm not going to expose myself by using textures from an essentially confirmed infringer. Who knows how many of these textures are copies that have gone unnoticed. It's not possible to get a refund on her any of her other textures now is it? They are wonderful textures, but how do I know they were hers to sell now? There is no acceptable excuse that I can think of that would adequately garner forgiveness...

nope, according to every release even the final "base" version will be free. You will be required to buy plugins for various things, like animation, exporting, renderman rendering etc This could obviously change, but that what all the information so far has claimed.
Thread: Confused | Forum: DAZ|Studio
A big kicker is the price.... supposedly it will be free for the base program. You'll only have to pay for the plugins

if you look in the DAZ forums (i don't have the link handy, but I'll tr to find it later) there is someone currently working on a much lower cost plugin for it...
Thread: NEW RELEASE: M3 Rogue Archer - NOW AT DAZ!!! | Forum: MarketPlace Showcase
It's actually just the actual pz files in tha Pro directory, no pngs OR rsr's somehow. The copying worked (I just copied both the rsr and the png files across) Out of curiousity how are the two versions different?

hmm, tried re-intalling, re-starting, still no luck. As i said they do appear under the p4 directory, but not under the PP one (I'm running p5)

Is it just me or is everyone missing the thumbnails in the PP version? They are there in the P4 version, however in the PP directory all that appears are those annoyin icons of the shruggin poser character.

Thank you so much, I was so shocked to see my name on there, as I hadn't even checked my mail yet lol. I was just wondering why I got so many new hits on an image so quickly! THank you so much, I feel to be in very good company after browsing through the other picks of the week.
Thread: Exporting with textures | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
thanks, after doing some more resarch I learned that this is actually a problem native to maya(ironic since it is an alias/wavefront product). It seems that it doesn't currently have the ability to import or export .mtl's. So i had to do some working around but I got it taken care of. THanks for the reply though. --Daniel
