Thread: Poser heaven has arrived? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Flibbits:
If you are using Windows Vista, or Windows 7, create a Genesis directory anywhere but under a directory named "programs". Then install your .trx and .ds files there. If your DS 4.X files are loaded to a "documents" directory you can load them there. Where ever you load the files, add that runtime to your Runtines in the Poser Library.

Folks:
Â
Looking through Dimension3D's form on GenX and DSF Toolbox update at DAZ3D, I found that D3D has make a little python script (free) that has a LOT of power. It will load DSF files into Poser through the DSON Importer that are DS4.0 or DS4.5 compatable, but do not yet have companion files created. Now, we don't have to wait for vendors to make companion files, or open DS, to use many (but not all) items of Genesis content. :)

Â
We should gratefully thank D3D for this. THANKS D3D! :)

The DSON installer should be in your main Poser folder (/2012) so that the python scripts will run.
HeHeHe. I soon found that the content files cannot go in the programs directory of my C: drive, no matter what I do, but I did not put it there. I put it with all of my other runtimes on my E: drive. But, years ago, because of problems Poser had finding my runtimes, I put them all in a directory called "programs". LOL, it seems Vista protects EVERY folder named "program". I moved my Genesis folder out of that directory and everything runs well.
Even with all of the specific face part morphs that are presently offered as DSON compatable, there is less variety than we had with GEN3, and GEN4 figures. The eyes are particularly hard to alter effectively. With all of the morphs available for M4 and V4, I could make those figures look like about anyone. Not so with Genesis. The specific body part morphs are also scant.
Remember, with one of the unhide dial python scripts, you can unhide partial morphs. Some of these will work independently from their full body morph. You can use the M5/V5 head with several bodies, and visversa.
Also, some of the full body morphs produce too much change in some body parts, but you can't dial them back unless you change their Parameter Settings. If you add a -1 to Min Limit, you can dial back a morph that is set too high. Most of the morphs with a Min Limit of 0.0 don't do anything if the value of the dial is less than 0.0. Which is an unfortunate waste. :(
Individual body parts or areas do not scale well for Genesis. Seeing that figures made according to Poser specifications can scale better. The converted Genesis figure is still not Poser compliant on scaleing.
I may have to learn how to convert DS4.5+ content to Poser usable format for myself. Ninty-eight items are not many to choose from. Maybe we should have a thread for DS items that are not on the DSON list at DAZ3D, but which still work in Poser?

"Have those files been updated? The way the importer handles genesis may be different from when the cr2 was being used."
PhilC will need to answer that for us. Though, if an update is needed, PhilC will likely provide that. He gives amazingly good service.

For people interested in Genesis in Poser (9/2012), PhilC has Genesis specific support files for Wardrobe Wizard in the store at his site.

I always believed this level of cooperation was possible, and in the best interest of Daz3D, Smith Micro, and the whole community.
I would be interested to hear from those who are experienced with Genesis, and Poser, exactly how much of the Genesis' functions and features will be available in Poser.
Or, is this about the same as loading the figures in DAZ3D, and exporting them to Poser?
Regardless, I hope this does much to reconcile the two camps.
Thanks DAZ3d and Smith Micro.

Thread: GND Anastasia Update | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Blackharted:
The eyes of this Anastasia look nothing like the eyes of Alyson2. I would not be able to tell the base figure if I did not know it already. I await the updated download. And, I hope, that as time alows, we can see similar improvements for Tyler's eyes.
GND Tyler is a great addition to Ryan2, and improves the versitility of that figure.
Thanks for your work.

Thread: Adjusting Reby Hair to Miki4 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
SUPPORT ALERT
There is a support paskage for Miki4 on PhilC's website already. It does cost, but it is a cheap way to get dozens of clothing items (and hair items) that you may already own, to work with Miki4.
There are also a few items for Miki4 already available at Poser World (for those of us who are members there).

There is a code in the blog for Content Paradise. Unless there is another sale, this one is over.

Unfortunately, the M4 genital figure has a lot of body parts that are not named in the M4 figure, without a separate rig and set of weight-maps, the M4 setup would do little good for it. It isn't that the un-converted genitals would not work with a weight-mapped figure. One could conform it and copy the M4 joints (which works for most conforming hair figures). But, the genital figure needs a better rig, and weight-maps will most likely benefit its posing ability.
