Apollo really could use some love and support. He's still a strong figure and it's always good to have a little variety in our Runtimes.

Thread: HELP, Please: Editing OBJ in Hexagon breaks morphs in Poser? | Forum: Poser Technical
JoePublic posted at 9:35 AM Mon, 31 January 2022 - #4434114
Thanks. After I posted this, I did some more reading and found what you said to be true. :-(I don't know about Hexagon, as I'm solely working in Wings3D myself.
But since ancient times, if you as much as change or delete a single polygon from an object file, any morphs made for said object file will stop working in Poser.
As you have Poser Pro 11, try loading the figure you created with your NEW object file and also the original figure based on the old object file.
Then under "Figure", select "Copy Morphs From..." and follow the instructions.
This will "average" a new set of morphs for the modified object file.
Depending on the shape of the object, this might might or might not work well.
I think it was the user "Cage" who wrote a python script with a similar functionality, but based on another principle.
So you can try that, too.
If the result is still unsatisfactory, I guess you need to create a new object, but this time with the morph already applied, so that it will match your morphed figure.
I'll try an FBM to see if that can solve the issue. I'll also reach out to the product creator and see if I can persuade (i.e. pay him) to make the modification.

no you are not mistaken, there used to be one. I dont know how long ago it was removed though
Thanks. I don't think it was very effective, so I'm not surprised. Nevertheless, it's good to know that I didn't imagine it.

Same here. The re-installation will not affect any manual content installs or favorites you have done yourself.
Thank you both very much!

Thread: How to create a Poser video Tutorial??? | Forum: Community Center
I have heard good things about these open source video editors:
KDenlive: OpenShot
Now, I have never used either of these (as I said, I use a paid-for program called Pinnacle Studio 20), but I think either of those would suit your needs (and your budget).

I used OBS last week, and it was great. The only trouble I had was selecting the correct microphone, and I got that sorted out in about 30 min. Give it a try.
Pinnacle Studio is not free, but I think I can recommend a good open source editor when I get home this evening.

Hey there, Boni. Funny you should mention that you are doing a tutorial on Comic Style Rendering. I'm actually teaching a Webinar on that this upcoming weekend (Sun. Feb. 16, 2020). I just made a promo video for it using OBS (you can see it here if you're interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EpiStbw3sS0&t=4s ). I used OBS to record Poser and Clip Studio Paint and I was able to record all the pop-up windows (Library, Hierarchy Editor, etc.) Now, none of those windows appear in the aforementioned video (they got cut due to length), but I did record them and saw them in my video editing software (Pinnacle Studio 20). I did about a 15-minute work session and trimmed it down to about a 90-second highlight of stuff we'll cover in the class.
Questions: When was the last time you tried OBS? Maybe they fixed the issue since then? If you tried it recently, then I think the problem you had might have come from you setting up the initial video capture to the application rather than the entire screen/monitor (I have had that issue with other software).
If you are interested in giving OBS another shot, I'll be happy to look at my settings and share them with you. Drop me a Sitemail if you would like me to do that, or to share a sample of the video that shows the pop-up/floating panels.
Mike

Thread: Looking for a bundle of cool action poses | Forum: Community Center
I'm not sure this is the right place to ask for poses in those formats. In Poser we use standard, rigged models (such as Michael 4, Victoria 4, La Femme, Genesis, Genesis 2, etc.). These rigged figures are available here at Renderosity and at Daz3D. Once you buy the base figure (or use one that comes with Poser or Daz Studio), you then apply a pose to it and the rigged figure moves to match the pose. Our poses contain only bend and rotation info that is stored in a file format that can be used in Poser or Daz Studio. Our poses do not contain geometry (OBJ).
So, I would suggest the following:
Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Thread: Why am I get rough ground shadows in Comic Book Preview | Forum: Poser 11 / Poser Pro 11 OFFICIAL Technical

I have done some renders using the comic book filter, both color and B&W. But have never really paid much attention to the ground shadows, as the B&W where relatively clean like the one posted, and the color ones are usually so dark toned you can't see shadows anyhow.
Thanks. I'm going to reach out to artist Brian Haberlin via Facebook and see if he can offer any insights. At least for the moment I can use the Toon Texture workaround.

If you look, you only have it checked on the right side. The left side, where the problem is, doesn't have it checked.
Thanks for input. Definitely appreciated.
But that's not my image: My image is the one with the guy and the gun. bwldrd has the image with the cute robot, and he was showing me a "Before and After" look at the effects of anti-aliasing.
Turns out that anti-aliasing doesn't seem to have any discernible effect on Comic Book Preview renders.

Notice the difference in the highlighted area shadows without versus with antialaising turn off/on. Shouldn't need all the workaround or a ground plane. These renders where with the toon renderer in preview mode, no ground plane but still has shadows.
Thank you, but it turns out that I did have the anti-alias box checked.
Are you working with Toon renders? I'm using Texture Shaded with the Comic Book Preview turned on. I suspect that has something to do with it. But if you have any other ideas, I'm game to try them!

Do you have antialias rendered images turned on in your render settings, for preview rendering?
Hoo Hoo! Probably not! I will check this evening and let you know. Thank you very much for the tip!

Try increasing the shadow blur radius in your light properties, see if that helps. Thank you, but that had zero effect. I suspected as much because this is a Comic Book Preview, not a Firefly or Superfly render.
I did find a workaround, I'm happy to say. I'm going to keep looking at other settings and see if I can do this without completely changing the source material, but for now, this is an excellent fix.
The ground is a high-resolution ground plane without a texture (that is to say, it has the default Poser material applied).
Now, when I render I get a nice, crisp shadow on the ground.
As I said, there are other properties to explore, so I'm going to look at them, too. But for now, this is a solid approacch with which I can work.
