I say dump the 10.2 Jaguar version and go with 10.3 Panther. Panther is so much better than Jaguar anyway.

I keep OS 9 on a separate partition primarily so that I can boot into it (I have an older Mac that still can boot OS 9) and do disk repairs on the OS X partition with OS 9's disk utility and defragmentation with Norton Utilities Speed Disk (I have Systemworks 2.0) when the need arises.

I have Poser 5 for OS X, and so far it's been rock solid on my Quicksilver dual 800 Mhz G4. Perhaps you can try either reinstalling Poser 5 or running Norton Utilities Disk Doctor or Disk Utility to check your hard drive.

There is no fall Macworld Expo. Now there's only the one held in San Francisco every second week of January. There used to be one held in July in New York, but now that's a Creative Pro conference. Besides, CL is probably now so cash strapped that they won't be able to attend it anyway.

In my experience, Poser 4 is much more stable on Classic running under Mac OS X rather than running on Mac OS 9, which tended to crash and bring down the entire system with it.

The DAZ models (obj files) and their textures can be imported into LW, Cinema 4D, etc as is. You can use their animation and boning features to directly pose the models or animate them to your heart's content if you don't want to deal with Poser.

Big boys or Big Dogs, whatever. The politically correct police in these forums can't change the fact that Poser will always be looked upon by the leaders of the 3D modelling and animation industry as nothing more than a toy app for hobbyists unless it works seamlessly with applications such as Lightwave or Maya, the very apps that supply it with beautiful models such as Victoria and Michael.

Instead of trueSpace, CL should be forming strategic alliances with the big boys creating Lightwave, 3DMax, Maya and Cinema 4D. More bad decisions on their part IMHO.
