The second hair tutorial in the Poser 6 tutorial manual addresses making skull caps on page 248.
Thread: Poser 5 Dynamic Hair | Forum: Vue
Attached Link: http://www.perpetualvisions.com/articles-and-graphics/v5p5-tutorial-hair.htm
I wrote a tutorial on how to work with dynamic hair in Vue 5. It is possible to get good texture and color. I have attached a shot of a render I did in Vue 5 of an imported poser 5 person.Hope this helps.

Thread: Help with Botanica please :o) | Forum: Vue
Elaine - Vue 5 and Botanica work correctly. Take your leaf into an image editor and then follow the second part of my tutorial which discusses leaves and how to make alpha maps. I didn't do anything magical. I didn't have to turn leaves around. All I did was import the leaf and the alpha image and they worked. e-mail me at paula@paulajane.com if you have a part of the process that isn't working and I will be happy to try to help you step by step. I know how frustrating it can be. I have been there myself. Paula

I have written a tutorial on creating plants using Botanica. I have created plants from scratch as well as creating leaves for trees which is more complicated. You don't have to struggle with rotating leaves or anything else. Djeser is correct that it is a good idea to make an alpha image yourself. Anyway, I have made a number of trees and plants as I explain it in my tutorial. If you have any questions, e-mail me and I will be happy to help you further.Paula
Thread: Vue Forum? | Forum: Vue
You have to be a registered user to access their forum, I believe. If that is not the problem, I have had the following occur with other programs. If, for example, I typed in the incorrect registration number, it didn't want to ever accept the correct one. I have never had a problem with the Vue forum on e-on's site. I use IE 6 on all my machines and can access it from anyone. I don't know if this is helpful, but IE 6 has always workd for me.

I also would like to add my thanks. I have moderated a forum in the past, not here, and know what hard work it is. Thank you so much for all your time and the great way you answer questions. Paula
Thread: Material Node Editor | Forum: Vue
I probably shouldn't say this but I love the node editor. The best way I found is to just go in there and play with a sand scene or water scene just by making changes and seeing what they look like. After a while you should get a feel for it. When you see a change you like, note if something is increased or decreased. Change one parameter at a time. A little bit of experimenting will go a long way. Paula
Thread: looking for tuitorials on hair for Vickie 3 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL

I don't have Vickie 3. If she has dynamic hair and you can start with a skull cap or remodel the hair in Poser 5's hair room, my tutorials might help. They can be found on Curious Lab's website under Training links, but they all link to the URL below. Hope this helps. paulaThread: Bringing Poser 5 Dynamic Hair into Vue 5 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Tell me what happens. I create my own wigs and have had no trouble exporting the hair any time. I usually just use Judy with hair as my model and then change her in the face room or just feature by feature as well as make other changes. I have never used anyone else's hair. Could that be the problem? When I import, I can import both single mesh or not single mesh. Have you tried both? I'm sure you have. Let me know your problem, and maybe I can try to replicate it. Thread: More Vue 5 and HRDI questions | Forum: Vue
I received a message from e-on tech support in answer to my post that the shadow bug will be fixed in the next beta 5.02 update which should be out very soon. Paula
Thread: More Vue 5 and HRDI questions | Forum: Vue
Before the patch, the shadow editor worked fine. If you look at the Registered User Forum on the e-on software site, you will see that after the 5.02 patch has been added, the shadow editor ceased to work properly. When used, the skies turn dark. e-on tech support has been notified of this problem. Paula
Thread: Can you point me to a tutorial | Forum: Vue
Attached Link: http://www.e-onsoftware.com/Community/Tutorial.php
There are more tutorials listed on e-on's site from this URL. They are found on various sites including Renderosity.Thread: Beta 5.02 | Forum: Vue
The info on the update was right in front of me. I have copied it from the e-on site and put it here. It is as follows: Update to Version 5.02 - Build 273045 This update is available for Mac and Windows platforms. This update mostly fixes initial release bugs. This update is still in beta. The following is a list of bug fixes and improvements included in this update: Refresh bug when switching from GR to Standard in the atmosphere editor. Sky dome anti-aliasing with low quality settings generate conspicuous artefacts. A crash when changing a material used by a procedural terrain. An infinite loop when the user name has non-ascii characters. HyperVue network rendering. Atmosphere editor Fog & Haze tab when sun was deleted. A message complaining about the memory requirements would show up on the mac if at least 2GB are installed. Fixed a crash when editing the function of a terrain that was converted to procedural. Fixed a crash when removing the animation from Dave. File handles leak when accessing string resources. On the mac, all the menu shortcuts appeared with the command key. paula
Thread: Inkjet printing | Forum: Vue
I have just started a series on printing in my front page column and I will be spending time discussing archival inks, etc., but that won't be for about a month. In the meantime, you can protect your prints by spraying on a UV protectant spray. Krylon makes a good one that costs a few dollars only. Any art or craft store carries it. It is called UV-resistant Clear 1305. The type of printer you have and the paper you use also makes a difference. I use only Epson inkjet printers. Lasers, Thermal Wax, Dye Subs, etc will give you longer life prints. The Epson 1280 prints on heavy weight matte will last a while. I can't remember their life span. The matte prints from the 2000 will last 100 yrs. The ones from the 2200 a little less ut that printer is the newest and hard to get. I still don't have one. Also, like with any art print, keep it out of dirct sunlight and under glass or plexiglass. The glossier the paper, the more apt to fade.
