Thanks all. I asked the ripple placement question in hopes to spark a convo on the finer points of composition... something I really know nothing about. I think I got a decent sense of balance in pictures, but find myself pondering endlessly where to put a rock, or a bird, etc. But alas, I got no bites to my question. lol. Oh well, I'm gonna work on the bark, and try a few different light settings as Drac suggested and call it done. Bryster I looked for some birds but found none. I'll keep looking though, it would definitely be a good touch. Muddy

Everything by Walter Mosley, Poe for the classics, and the Sunday comics. That's my short list.

Thanks everyone. I've found some leaf photo textures as Double and Ray suggested, so that should take care of that. Serendipity, I checked my settings and can't find anything set to "pink" per se. I do have some set to various blues. I'll try a lighter sky color and see what you think of that. I have to agree with ya Bryster and Groin, not much detail there in the falls area. I'm not quite up to speed with Bryce yet to attempt tying in a waterpool with the falls. That just might be my next scene. Thanks again, Muddy

Ok a few subjective comments, in other words, these arent to be right or wrong , just some things you might want to try to see if it improves your scene. Entrance trees: Tree on the left I like. It's well placed. The tree to the right however blocks too much of the rest of your scene. Maybe rotate it just a bit to invite the viewer to explore your beautiful path more. You might even try rotating the lower limbs completely out of the way, then add smaller vegetation to help define that side of the path. The curved landscape (with mushrooms, stone and grass patches): I really like this area. A place the viewer can stop as he walks thru your scene. One thing though, you've alternated from grass patch, bare ground, grass patch, bare ground, etc. This gives me a choppy feeling. You might try "all" grass around the curve. Give it more of a fluid emotion. Keep up the great work.

It's coming along beautifully. Composition-wise, I'm not sure I like the placement of the foreground branch. It seems to obscure the view as opposed to enhance it. Look forward to the finished version.

Bryce with no postwork. I used the rowboat, wagon wheel, fence, bridge, and ladder.
Thanks Sharen and Mike and crew for a great contest and such wonderful models.

Some very creative entries. Loved viewing them but hated trying to pick just three. Erlik - 3 BecSchm - 2 Claymor - 1

Love it. I can almost here her footsteps echoing in the silence. The door really fits well too.

Excellent render. It brings to mind the ole cliche.. "If it aint one "thing" it's another."
