The contest has officially ended. Please enter your votes in the attached thread.Thread: Anyone near Philadelphia????? May 1, 2004, event | Forum: Writers
Three days too soon :( I won't be back in the Phila area until Tuesday. I believe this is being held in the main branch of the Phila Library system, and it's not very far from the "Olde Town" section. Spend some time at the library, walk around Independence Mall, and then stop at Bookbinder's for dinner. Oh well. Maybe next year.

Because there was some sort of unspecified server glitch on Tuesday that ate at least 2 entries, the deadline for this month's challenge will be extended ONE day. The new deadline is 00:01 May 1st (Renderosity time). If you have posted for the challenge and your entry has not yet been approved, please re-post.

I'm sure it's been read many times. Normally threads are responded to, especially ones containing stories, but this is not always the case. If you were looking for suggestions or specific feedback, perhaps it was just misunderstood. For my part, I've actually read it twice. During both readings the story just made me feel uncomfortable - it's too dark for my taste.

Just a friendly reminder - the challenge ends in just over 9 days (9 days, 16 hours). Don't let this month's challenge pass you by - post your entry!
Thread: RIM writing contests. | Forum: Writers
Thanks, Jon. It is a good point. I don't think there'd be a problem, but like dialyn said, we'll need to discuss it with the rest of the staff. Would just a listing of the names non-winning participants be acceptable? We'd certainly like to acknowledge, in some manner, everyone who entered the contest.

Thread: The Fish | Forum: Writers
The use of he/she doesn't necessarily imply gender. Look at ships, especially naval vessels. They're universally referred to as "she" but that doesn't mean they're female. Another example is the almost seemingly random assignment of "der/die/das" in German. To make things worse, the use of the masculine "der" in singular form usually takes on the feminine "die" when pluralized. Your choices are limited if you don't want to give it a name. You could simply call it "Fish" and avoid the use of "the fish," use "he/she/it," or give it some sort of identifying characteristic (which would be just as awkward) such as "speckled fish," "rainbow trout," "bent fin," or the like. Ok, I'll crawl back under my rock now.

Thanks to TalonGE for catching this: For simplicity's sake, the length of each entry will follow the standard gallery limit - 15,000 characters.

Thread: TOS update | Forum: Community Center
This thread has departed too far from its original purpose-the announcement of a change in Renderosity's TOS. It has also degenerated into personal attacks that are contrary to the same. Please remember to adhere to the TOS and keep posts within a thread on topic.
