Oh, FRAK!! dropped a hyphen in the first URL! Run them through MartinC's MacConverter. Congratulations on turning to the Light ;oD (Triarius ducks and runs as the PC types pelt him with over-ripe fruit)Thread: is there a chance to use poser without DAZ figures? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Berserga, "De gustibus non est disputandem." ;D The only tool you can afford is the best tool you can find. BUT Art comes not from the tools, but the artist.

Actually, a lot of people use the "native" P5 figuresfor some things, they are as good or better than V3, M3, and SP. Since you seem new to the program, I suggest you learn using the native figures, then move on to the DAZ stuff when you feel comfortable with the app, or as you find a need. There is a tendency in our technological society to feel that only the best or latest will dodon't subscribe to that fallacy, at least not unless you are made of money!

Patience, young Padawan! Yes, the program is complex and looks overwhelmingdon't let that intimidate you. First tip: turn your mouse speed down. If you have a Wacom tablet and mouse, you can set up a custom behavior for Poser. Use the dials to move and pose body parts! Most values should be between 0 and 1. RTFM, and play with it as you do.

If I understand this correctly, your MAT files on her Mac want to see PICT files for textures, but couldn't find or read your TIFF files, but the files appeared to be PICT files when she inspected them? Mac OSX may interpret TIFF files as PICT so that it can open them in the Preview app that is part of OSX, but the files are not really converted to PICT filesjust labeled as such. It is also possible that her download/decompression software is set to label TIFF files as PICT without actually converting them. IIRC, P5 on the Mac wants to find PICT or JPG files for texture maps. The easiest way to prevent this in the future is to tell Mac users to open the texture files first in Photoshop and save them as PICT. The nicest way would be to do the conversion yourself: just "save as" twice, once as a TIFF file and once as a PICT or JPG.
Thread: Vue pro vs C4d for poser companion questions | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
C4D is, and always has been, a superior program. It is very fast, has a small footprint, few bugs, and excellent support. There are two downsides: It is expensive. The learning curve is steep, and sometimes difficult. BUT, in my humble opinion, you get what you pay for. This is a Volvo or a Saab. And as for the learning curve: a terrible day with C4D is more fun, an more rewarding, than all but the best days with any other software I have every tried, bar none. Don't get me wrongI like Vue 4. Vue 4, C4DXL, and Poser 5 are my 3D programs of choice.

Humans have a great tendency to blame something else for what they are, when what they are is not acceptableto themselves or to society, or to parts of it.
We are a violent species. There can be no arguement against the overwhelming evidence. We must not reject this part of ourselves, but rather accept it, embrace it, and REQUIRE OURSELVES, AS INDIVIDUALS, TO LEARN TO CONTROL IT.
EVERY ONE, if they are healthy, has dark, hidden secrets that each of us would rather not share with anyone. Fantasy is, among other things, an outlet for those frustrations. It can be a self theraputic tool. If some choose to share those dark elements of themselves, well, that's their choice. I find their strangeness fascinatinghuman beings are not only stranger than they imagine, they are stranger than they can imagine. Art, even more than the written word, is a window to the mind.
It is only when fantasy becomes obsessiona loss of self controlthat it becomes potentially dangerous. Obsession does not remove responsibility, however. A drunk driver is not in control of either mind or body, but is still held responsible for their actions. Someone who was abused as a child and grows up to be a violent person is still responsible for their actions. We are as we choose to be. If we are incapable of making a choice, then we are damaged, and require care and imposed limits on our actions. But even that does not remove our responsibility, it only explains our lack of ability to function normally.
"Desensitization" is a myth invented to remove responsibility from the person, and apply it to an abstraction. If desensitization were valid, every combat veteran, from every war, would be a violent criminal. Every law enforcement officer would become a violent criminal. Every emergency room doctor and nurse would be indifferent to human pain and suffering.
If there is a problem with violence in our society, it is because of two things:
In portions of this society, violence, on all levels, is socially acceptable. These tend to be the poorer elements of society.
In other portions of our society, lack of responsibility is not only acceptable, it is encouraged. These tend to be the more affluent elements in society.
I conclude with this: Social history is repeating itself. It doesn't have to do so. All that is required to stop it is that people accept responsibility for their actions, and require that others do the same.

P5 is slow but just workable at G4 733 Mhz. I wouldn't try it at 233 except for very simple stuff. I havn't tried rendering anything at 1.4 Ghz, yet (just got the processor upgrade) but going up from 733 was a huge improvement. P4 runs acceptably on a G4350, and even on a G3 at 400, or so. I'd recommend you use the money to buy a processor upgrade. :o]
Thread: Every one is too beautiful and clean! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
"I think there arnt enough average grimy people" Most of us are u p to our eyballs in "average grimy people" or is that average slimy peopleso we like seeing the mythological. BUTyou have a pointthere are very few with real character showing. Now wyrwulf's fellow has characterhe's not pretty, but there is something there that's more than vanilla good looks. Real beauty comes from within. My wife is one of the most beautiful women on earth, but not even in contention for best looking (except in my eyes) . Tom Selleck has always been a good looking fellowwhat makes him stand out is that his character, or elements of it, show through the good looks. I think what you really miss is the character. Without the elements of character, 'tis just another pretty/ugly/average face.

BekaVal: Copying for educational purposes, your own or others', is considered "fair use." Publishing such a copy, even if the original artist is credited and the image is called "Copy of so-and-so's image (insert someone else's work here) without that artist's express consent, is NOT.

"because sooner or later in your life as an artist someone somewhere will make an accusation against your abilities or your work." Good advice if you are worried about intellectual property issues. But otherwise, why should you care what they think? Was this an intellectual property matter? Or was someone denigrating your work? If the latter, just ignore them.

P5 only, IIRC. Also, renaming and using them does not work, but if you delete them, sometimes the original file is no longer functional.
