Humm,I think this Vue confusion is pure company marketing. It is all the same product under the hood with improvements. The problem for the company is how to extract the maximum ammount of money possible from the user base. So the spin doctors (marketing dept.) tell you V 4 Pro is not really v 4 when the code and menu itmes tell you it is v 4 with improvements. How many of you with both still use v 4??? Now will they go on with this silly charade and come up with V 5 pro on these two lines that really the same----I wonder? I wil purchase V 5 only if it does a lot of things I want in addition the V 4....

I too had problems with that and it turned out that I had a very old copy of win 2000 as I got it just after it came out. I got so frustrated that I bought a completely new version with the new service pac as part of it and it has worked great. Even with a completely clean install on a new disk and all the service packs installed the old version won't work.

Thankyou for the coments on my picture. I'll be waiting for more clothes textures. I did the picture in Vue 4 Pro after making a pz3 file to import. It was rendered as a final resolution and I and not tried superior and ultra to see it the fur just gets better.

Thread: Still can't import pz3 but first image with the program... | Forum: Vue
The Poser 5 imports for pz3 files work for me quite well I do have some problems with textures. But they work with P5 open or closed. It is handy as vue pro will ask you if you want the changed model reloaded. And you can flip back and forth. I originally had a lot of problems in this area and I completely reformated my HD and reinstalled all of the above. Still errors and I was so frustrated that I purchased a new HD and as an after thought a new copy of Win 2000 pro with service pack 4 as my old one was an early upgrade and was a pain to install. What a diferance, all the errors went away and everything is working. In case your wondering I had installed all the ervice packs on my old version. So take a look at your operating system as part of your trouble shooting ---Good luck.
Thread: What is this with VUE rocks causing crashes..aka my latest vent '-)!! | Forum: Vue
Hummm,I had all those crashes whenever I resized anything of size too. But I replaced my video card and win2k promptly died. Worked for 2 days trying to get it back forunately I was able go in using DOS and save my data to another drive. Then reformated and reinstalled everything. Now no more crash time. OK what did it? the new video card or the cleansing? You might try the cleansing first it's cheaper except for time

Was sick yesterday so no Vue or internet. better today. I will work on a short tutorial on this function later on. But for Tim just a short tip. My waves were too big initially too. I'll save them for a storm. But the qick and dirty way is to just flatten the terrane. Go to one of the side views and find the middle handle on top of the terrane and pull it down toward the ground. It also helps to set the original ground plane to the same water material. so any "holes" wont be noticable Don't forget the clip slider either. Then its just play till you get the right 'for you' settings. The atmospheres will give much different appearances to the same water also. I like a water with some foam in it so don't neglect the material editor either. Approach this as Play -glenn
Thread: Sorry, another vue pro problem, could be me | Forum: Vue
There is a nice example of foam and splashes in the sample scenes called Kereon which shows waves breaking around a light house save some of it as a material and modify it as needed in the material editor. gives you a good starting point.

Well I am less confused now here is how "jimgranite" Did it. Goto the terane editor and make your iceberg. Then goto the last icon on top it has a mountain and a plus. then right click on the function and you get a menu of functions chipped is one in the basic area. select that and tell it ok then go back to it and right click the chipped function and select edit function and there is the menu with fractal layer turn it on and turblence turn it on and noise select smooth noise there are lots of other interesting possibilities for all kins of terane. This should keep us busey for some time. Thank you jimgranite for making me learn a lot more about VPro today. Aloha Glenn

I get the same message with my old models in some cases and not in others also the black preview. But it's better with the update. Also the converter dies with errors everytime I use it. I have loaded some the models that didn't work in 4 and resaved them in vue pro as a work around and this usually works. hope this helps.
