Jeg og en rik amerikaner. Jeg bor pa Plaza Hotel.
I have no idea what that means, but I was told to try it on girls in Oslo.
I hail from a small village, right on the border between norwey and swenden.

Thanks, Dizzi and EnglishBob.
I have Poser File Organizer from Dimension3D, and it does an acceptable job of fixing references, but it is slow (on massive runtimes) and I find the interface daunting. One must spend a lot of time researching what each option means to get the scan result desired. Because it stops when it can't find a reference, one must babysit the scan and make a choice whenever a missing texture or other reference file is encountered. This takes quite a while on runtimes with thousands of files.
It also indicates it can be used to move content, however, my experience is that when you move content, it leaves all the ancillary files where they are and just changes the references in the library object files you move to refer back to the old runtime. This obviously negates the intent of splitting a runtime as the morphs, textures and geometries stay in the old runtime which remains huge. I do not see such transfer capability in the Runtime Zip and Repair product.
I also have, and use frequently, Morphing Clothes from Dimension3D. This is perhaps the best utility I have ever seen for Poser (DAZ, Carrara). It adds morphs from a character object to a clothing object and it works extremely well in my experience. If you have a character with specific body morphs you can easily add them to any piece of clothing.
What I really want to know is whether CRPro will transfer a piece of content, with all its ancillary files, from one Runtime to another - cleaning up after itself. Right now the only option I know of is to completely delete the specific runtime and reinstall all content into two new Runtimes. This is obviously the best method (although any alterations made to individual files is lost in the process along with any newly created content saved in the Runtime) but it is time consuming.
Any advice on CPPro II from users is appreciated.

Does anyone have experience with CRPro II (mentioned above). It's on clearance sale now and I would buy it if other users had used it successfully.
I would like to use it to make relative references absolute (which I believe it does on a scan runtime basis).
I would also like to use it to move content from one runtime to another (primarily to split large runtimes into smaller ones so they open more quickly in Carrara). Does it do this effectively and safely?
Thanks,
Klebnor

I vote for DPH's solution. It'd give a second life to all those V3 textures, and Antonia will have a huge instant backlog of available skin textures!

This is probably a stupid question, but I can't find any reference to HDRI or IBL in the Carrara manual. How are these files used in Carrara? I am interested in trying image based lighting in my renders, but don't understand the mechanics of using the file.

Adrian:
Thanks for the info. There are some things I have to use Poser for (applying PMD morphs and saving the instance for use in Carrara for example) but generally I just use Carrara now. I was hoping Pro wasn't as prone to freezeup and crashes as P7.
nobrot:
I hear you. Carrara 6pro definitely mangles some shaders and poses which apply shaders may or may not work. If I have a real conflict, I load the object in Poser, apply the shader, and save the instance. This usually works. I do wish Carrara had a material room, but it has such much better tools for mesh manipulation that I put up with occasional lapses. It also renders about 50 times faster. Oh, and the lights are head and shoulders above poser. Finally, the ability to create impressive 3d backgrounds (including realistic skies and oceans) seals the deal.

If I understand the issue correctly, and I may not, there is a different firefly render engine for a 64 bit OS with improved multi-threading which is unavailable on a 32 bit OS. The 32 bit firefly engine appears to use all four cores (I have watched in the task manager) during processing but I understand the results are much quicker with the 64 bit version.
If you want to see screaming renders, try Carrara.

ahudson - I love your content installer - use it all the time. Thanks for the feedback.
Dizzi - does the Advanced Library support drag and drop into Carrara?

Thanks for responding. Yes, I do use the magnet for adjustment of an existing mesh. I was thinking of magnets like Xanna that apply to the figure and clothing.

Thread: Poser 7 to Poser Pro Question | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Just wondering, what do you use P7 for? As I haven't installed Pro yet, perhaps it will be obvious (different interface, posing, etc.) but right now it seems a substitution rather than another application to select from. Do some things work better in P7 than P Pro?
BTW, I have a quad core CPU, but still run 32 bit XP. I assume as I don't have a 64 bit OS, I won't see the improvement in render times (the main reason I use Carrara almost exclusively now).
Thanks,

Thread: Considering Buying Carrara | Forum: Carrara
One other peculiarity with Carrara is content with morphs in PMD files. I do not believe (based on experimentation) that Carrara can do anything with a PMD (external binary morph file). This struck with Sanctum Art's Horde character, and the Horde clan. All morphs are only in the PMD files. Had to open in Poser (with the checkbox for use external binaries checked), apply desired morphs, and save a copy of the character with the morphs injected (after unchecking the box so Poser will not simply save to an external file). Carrara will find the new character in the browser and the morphs are in.
If anyone knows an easier way, I'm all ears.
Great lights, fast render times - not to mention a great landscape and sky editor! I don't know how anyone goes back to poser after trying Carrara.
