forester has a set of Japanese props in the marketplace - samurai house, garden, tsukubai, gates, laterns. Communion has a Samurai katchu (full clothes and armor) in several parts in the marketplace. There are some hashi and other props in the Cinema4D freestuff section (easily importable into Poser since .obj are included). BYS
Thread: Problem with Poser Confusing X and Y axis rotations | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
A search of "gimbal lock" on Google resulted in 5550 links (1800 if quoted). The number one result has this: "What is Gimbal Lock and why does it occur?" Don't expect the Poser manual to tell you everything about 3D CG. There are far better references in books and online. Google is a great way to find them. BYS

Sorry if I sounded 'smug', but gimbal lock is a very, very, very, very, very, very well known problem in 3D computer graphics. There are thousands of books that discuss it, thousands of web pages, thousands of resources. In fact, there are hundreds of threads on this forum concerning it. Why should I reiterate and regurgitate the same information? If I'd the time, I would have posted a set of links, but you have fingers, computer, Google, and a search engine here. I gave you the exact information needed to learn about it yourself. BYS

Gimbal lock - look it up and learn about it. It is a constant in the 3D computer universe. BYS

Some shadows... :) Note that the table and chairs almost appear to float because there are no real shadows on the floor upon which they are supposed to be resting. All of those shadow-cams and you'd think that you could get a somewhat realistic shadowing. (This is why I deposited my nickel and stopped using Poser for renders.) BYS

I wouldn't call anyone "jap" as long as they don't call me gaijin (or such). ;0) "Kamikaze pilot" would be a more descriptive and less offensive title. I'd IM or email xadmax2 and note the derogatory nature of the title. Good chance that he/she will not mind changing it. BYS
Thread: SR3 question | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Could be hidden underneath one of the other components or has been nastily moved off the visible display area of Poser. You may need to return to "Factory" settings in Preferences to get it visible again. BYS
Thread: Longest file transfer ever??? =) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
This happens occasionally when transfering large amounts of data comprised of zillions (well, approximately) of small files. It's a weird Windows bug that usually is harmless, if not amusing. On occasion, though, it can herald the death of the transfer (usually across networks). Some other bugs that M$ hasn't worked out: 1. Deleting folders in Windows Explorer sometimes doesn't update the "Folders" panel in the display and requires it to be closed and rerun. You get a nasty dialog if you accidently click on the folder (as it no longer exists, despite what Explorer thinks). 2. The old and forgotten Internet Explorer HTML text bug seems to have crept back. During HTML page formatting, text is repeated on the next line that was already displayed. F5 (refresh) fixes it, but it is damned annoying. 3. Everything else about the OS... ;0) Windows XP Pro SP1 and Internet Explorer 6.0.2800. BYS
Thread: Dr. Who Missing! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
You're darn tootin'! ;) The human head is a very, very complex structure - bones, cartilage, tons of muscles, skin, specialized skin, hair, teeth, tongue, eyes and ears (entire complex structures in themselves). And each person (unless they have identical syblings) has unique, distinguishing features in every one of these areas. To be capable of catching these nuances in a 3d model requires literally thousands of morphable regions, among other things. Victoria 3 is the closest that I've seen. And yes, can't wait for Michael 3 for a 'real' male with this complexity. Until there are even more complex models, the only way to catch a facial likeness with precision is to model the head yourself using as many references as possible or to go the extra light-year and add morphs and tweaks to the already available models'. Yours is pretty darn good, smiller1! BYS

Hey, "he" is God! God can look like anything that a believer wants. ;0) Sorry, I gave up God for Lent... BYS

First thing you need is a texture template image for the target model. This is a 2D image that shows the UV (texture) mapping of the model's geometry just for the purpose of creating textures for the model. Without this, there is no way to properly align the texture to the features. If the model doesn't have a texture template image, get UV Mapper, load the .obj file for the model, work out mapping (if necessary), and save the .obj and texture template(s). There are many tutorials (and messages in this forum) about how to use UV Mapper in this respect. There are some good tutorials on making human model and face textures for Poser (or whatever). CakeOne has a marvelous "put your face on a Poser figure" tutorial. The link to the website is on the right menu under "WebRing Top 15". ------> (then scroll down). Check out 3D Cafe's Poser and texturing tutorials as well as those here and linked from here. There is also a set of tutorials for creating textures for a full human Poser figure available here in the Marketplace. Although it involves using photographs from a real-life model, many of the latter steps work irrespective of photos or painted textures. Clothing usually doesn't have features that require exact placement (lips, eyebrows, nipples, wrinkles, etc.). You can get away with a repeating texture on clothes. Not on a human - if you want it to look even remotely realistic. Take your time (baby steps). Creating a good texture takes time, patience, and some learning. Good luck and watch out for LittleDragon to fill this page with valuable links!!! :) BYS
Thread: Hello, my name is EricofSD and I'm a DAZaholic! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Don't forget to stick her in amber after she draws some dino blood. Need that Jurassic Park theme going. :) DAZ is wonderful. What would empty my wallet would be a full dino collection - flora and fauna. Make your own "Walking with Dinosaurs"! BYS
