I tried the deleting the PMD file associated to a saved Poser file but it does the same thing, the working figure window disappears and leaves me with what I described above. :(
Thread: Poser window issue | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks for answering. I created a bunch of characters yesterday. I saved them, and created a new one each one from scratch. So I had to load V4, add her morphs etc. I added IBL lights and rendered each one to make sure everything looked ok. Saved the file and went on to the next one.
Today, I can't open any of the files I created. When I select open, the Poser doc window disappears and along with it the little window that pops up when you double click on something [name escapes me right now] I'm left looking at dots, lighting bar, and the bars for the editing tools and doc style. Nothing else. The cursor whirls around for a second or two and then changes to a single white arrow. Nothing but a shadow 2 edge box sits on the screen. The light bar didn't change to the IBL lights but there is something there as it asks me if I want to save when I select close.
I wonder if this is a Vista issue again. But I still think it has something to do with V4 morphs for either creatures or muscles. Because I can open older files I made a few days ago and did not use those morphs. But I don't think I used the morphs when I created an Alice unless her morphs use those?
Edit: I just tried to "import" the file that won't open. Poser works and works and then nothing shows up when it's done. The same thing happens when I save a file to a external drive too.
I'm using Poser6 on a Vista 64 bit home premium. I had tried to use DAZ Studio and that failed flat. Wondering if it corrupted my Poser Runtime during a import session to it? If I have to reinstall Poser again, for like the 10th time I think I'm going to check myself in at the funny farm.

Awesome! You guys & girls rock!
Edit: It looks like that chess set has found new found interest judging by the peoples response to it and hmm looks like it's dated almost the same time as my post...someone must be psychic! evil grin
Thread: I have to ask...about V4 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks for the links. I was going to try the 2 ball method instead of the 1, point one eye to the one ball and so on to the other. Allowing me to move each eye and see how that works. Sometimes that looking at you pose can make or break and image and when you think you have it, that lazy eye V4 has just stands out like a sore thumb imo. I"m wondering if the eye frame which would make the template be a tad off so making the iris/pupil texture have that slightly off center look to the eye. The eye issue bugs me more than her huge toes. :)

There is also the stocking sets from Bluebeard, for the quick and easy no conforming needed they just overlay on your current texture and come in quite a few colors and styles.
Thread: I'm not having any fun with Poser and Vista | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Heya,
Thanks to those adding to this thread. I will try the account control feature and see if that helps. My system is running Vista Home Premium, so things should be in the same spot.
My Poser installed itself in a separate folder when looking at the C drive I have Program Files and then Program Files (x86) and the Poser program is in the x86 one.
Laurie, you might want to check and see if there are any updates for your Poser, I think Poser7 has a service release, I know Poser6 has had 3 updates since it came out. 7 I think might have 1 if you haven't done that already :)
Thread: 15 Excellent Places for Discovering Photoshop Brushes | Forum: Photoshop
I've got so many brushes that I can't even remember what I have, yet alone use them all. So I guess that qualifies me as a Brushaholic.
Thread: Overpainting 3D renders - a shortcut to the painted look? | Forum: Photoshop
I read in one of my magazines [ImagineFX is awesome imo] about creating a separate layer, using a grunge brush to fill the layer and set it over the image as an overlay I think and it can give a painted texture effect.
I've been trying to find a similiar way of creating something in Vue or Poser etc and giving it a painted look, kind of take the edge off the rendered image.
One thing I have found out that lights play a big part on render outcomes, of course. There is a tut on how to render in Poser that makes the result come out like a 2d cartoon effect, perhaps something like that but not to that extreme might help. I haven't played with that idea, but if the cartoon effect can be done, something in between might be as well. Either way there will need to be some postwork done.
Going back to the ImagineFX magazine, they have been running a series on brushes for PS and explaining on what they're used for in the artwork, like for skin or cloth etc, and they also mention what other things can be done with that one type of brush, like for grass or stone work. I'm wanting to take the time to take an image and paint over it and merge the two together and see how that works.
Take a look at their web site and see what you can pick up there, I'm pretty certain there is a download section there.
But that's my 2 pennies worth, I'm just a PS noob myself but I've found lots of neat ideas out of that magazine. It used to cater to all forms of art making but over the last year it seems to be focusing more on hand painted works in PS or Painter. But still full of good tips.
Thread: help with water caustic effect | Forum: Photoshop
heh thanks for the replies :) I'll check out the generator, the picture in the magazine looked neat and I thought it might be something "easy" to do since the tut looked so short when I looked at it and now I know why...oh well :)
Thread: How do I render Eyelashes? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Sweet all good to know information here. Thanks to those who answered :) I've been tempted with Poser 7 but I held off and now Poser Pro is out so didn't know if the difference between the two was little or huge. I've seen a lot of great images being produced with Daz's Studio program and I'm half tempted to try and understand that one. My one draw back is all of my models and textures etc are based in my Poser folder. I have a new computer coming and I'm tempted to create a folder for my items where I can use either Poser or D|S and have a central location for the items needed. Would that be possible? This way I don't have duplicate items hording hard drive space.
Thread: How do I render Eyelashes? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Speaking of Poser7 and PoserPro, is PoserPro a better product than Poser7? Kind of like Poser 7.5? I'm working with Poser 6 and I'm half tempted to purchase the upgrade since the price has come down, but now there is PoserPro to wonder about. Is PoserPro a much better product to work with than Poser7 and I should set my sights on that? Or is PoserPro only just slightly better than Poser7 and not worth the extra hundred or so dollars?
Thread: How do I render Eyelashes? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I had a similiar issue with V4, the lashes came out looking sparse and "jagged" looking and I someone replied with [I have written down in my trusty book...because I can't remember squat]
Using a Min shade rate of .2 then set pixel sample to 5, then change max texture size to 1k-4k and after changing make sure to check reload textures if you have keep textures loaded turned on.
It does make your rendering go a little slower but it does "fill in the blanks" on the lashes.
If that doesn't help, it might be too your map for the lashes? Try some merchant resources to bulk up your lashes, by blending several together?
Thread: Creating conforming hair | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks Realmling for your posting and it would be great to see some hair making tuts. I understand it's time consuming, I want to give it a try but at same time I'm thinking, maybe I should just stick to buying the hair... :) I don't know if I have the patience for it.
Nanette--did you buy the Hair Designer? I wish more people would post their hair designs. I would rather like to see what people have done who just bought the program when it went on sale than seeing the designs made by people who have had the program for a while. But come to think about it, the HD is the price of a hair item nowadays...so maybe it might be worth spending money on it, I wonder if the HD can be used to adjust or add onto exsisting hair that someone made?
BTW Nanette, your avatar is just too darn cute! I think his/her breed is where they got the name Terror-iers from ;) I bet it is a rascal!
