No real reason to set the Min-max swap to different sizes, given the amount of RAM.
Oh, try it with Win2k Pro on the same system, it MIGHT just be a little bit faster...
Thread: Poser 7 so slow in Vista it is no longer fun . . . . | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
ceba, vista runs the way it's supposd to for me as well; i've got a HP DV8230 laptop with a dual core & Nvidia GO 7300 video with 512MB memory, with 1 gig of system ram.
I deleted it after trying it though, because there is no flipping point in having a operating system that takes up over half of a good systems resources just to run, and has DRM so strict that I couldn't play even some of my own rendered animations (still sort of in awe on that one). it went off my laptop, and windows media center 2005 went back on.
There is a laundry list of reasons why Vista is a step in the wrong direction from a consumer point of view; for Poser enthusiasts, I guess the point would be this: you know those long render times you get with Win2k, even longer ones with XP? well, they will be longer than ever with Vista, given the same computer hardware is used as a base for comparison. The less well equiped your computer, the looooonger it will take to do anything.
Given a computer with 64MB of ram, a 500mhz processor, and a 2mb video card, you can run Win2k pro and Poser 6. it will not be the zippiest thing in the world, but you could do it. VISTA requires, at a MINIMUM, a 1ghz processor, a 32MB video card, and 512MB of system memory.
I pass the soapbox back to ceba...

This is probably going to be unpopular, but...
You can get a Win2k Pro install CD on ebay for $15.
As long as you don't have a Intel hyperthreading CPU, or a AMD-64 processor AND one of the 2 or 3 applications that are actually 64-bit optimized, your computer will be about as zippy as it is possible to be.

I'll pass the kind words on to the part of the family that would appreciate them; His wife and Uncle; I'm godfather to his son, hopefully renderosity will leave his profile up so I can show him what his dad liked to mess with later on down the road.
havysquid had a hard life, and achieved a lot. U.S. Military, Black Belt, and is even in the movie "Edison death machine". But he had great physical pain every day for the last, I think, 5 years.

then making your swap file minimum size equal to the suggested swap file size, with the max 1.5 times minimum.
You're referring to virtual memory, right?
If so, when I looked both were set to 256. When I changed the Min = 2 and Max = anything above 256, upon rebooting I got a "Your system is low on virtual memory, Windows is allocating more memory and some process may not be available for use" error. And when I looked some other "available" something or other would say 11 MB or 12 MB.
oops. i meant to say set minimum size equal to the suggested MAX swap file size. my bad.

Oh, and how do you defrag a swap drive? When I go to my defrag all I see are hard drive C and hard drive D (older one for storage)Not clear enough; defrag the drive the swap file is going to be created on prior to changing the swap settigs.

I'm interested in the original posters post regarding improving performance in Windows XP. Only now I'm on Windows 2000 and want to know if there is something equivalent I can do in Windows 2000.
Most of the tweeks for XP aren't needed for Win2k. The only tweek that will likely be super helpful is the game tweek to enable compatability mode:

Aside from that, try to have 2gb RAM (any more than that is a waste, and in reality, anything more than 1gb doesn't really do much), I WOULD SUGGEST defragging your swap drive, then making your swap file minimum size equal to the suggested swap file size, with the max 1.5 times minimum.

Hmmmmmmm. A search for content for Laura over 44 days old and less than 3 years old brings up 4 things. I think maybe a little bit of the archive is unavailable.

I found something that might work, at least the V3 one looks good:

there are some klingon morphs that look like they might be modified, as well.

Cool, but not looking for anime style stuff right now. I found some pretty interesting ones here:
http://www.ht3dplus.com/Files/morphs.html
for V3; I'm thinking the klingon morphs for V2 & M2 would work if you throw in some fangs.

Jaqui, did that morph ever become available? Looks like it would work for a buffy-style vampire.

Any progress on this? We've got spot-on Spike & Buffy characters, pretty good ones for the rest of the cast, but not a single attempt at a vamp in feeding mode?

I bought the Poser 6, Vue 5, Mover 5 bundle a couple of months ago; everything works together perfectly, I literally have no complaints about how the programs work together.
If you are wanting to do animation using poser figures, it's the best way to go.
