I've noticed this annoying "feature" as well but hadn't tried to go about fixing it. Without looking, changing the reddish ambient sounds like the culprit, as mentioned.
Shader Spider by PoseWorks is what I use to change materials on a few or little materials at once.
I like it.
Great for making custom materials as well, naming nodes for better clarity etc.

Ockham's comment is the correct one:

That second bracket needs to be deleted. I have been dealing with this myself recently and deleting that bracket has cured my Mat file ills.
Thread: How do you make the process of making Poser Comic/Stories fun and not tedious... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
You've already got a ton of suggestions short of "go back to school, major in animation", which is always an option.
My recommendation is stay active, keep creating strips. Maybe you won't like what shows up and you'll give up. OR. You'll have the drive to keep at it until you like what comes from chasing details.
That Drive is the most important element; your desire to tell a story by making a picture.
The job will always be tedious. The job will always be repetitive. Your drive will push you past that part that makes most normal people find some better use of their time. The repetition over time will open your eyes to possibilities that can't be mined from the best of forum comments because it will be your experience based on your own choices.
Ditto the Scout McCloud books, Making Comics and Understanding Comics. Get them as fast as you can.
Thread: In Poser Comics,, i dont want to cover the Picture with Text. How not to? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
When I started Liquid Stealth (examples in my gallery here), I too, didn't want to cloud up a composition with a lot of speech balloons. As I started with narration it was easy to squeeze that at the top or bottom of frame. But once, dialogue came into the story, the text had to go somewhere and it had to easily correspond to the character speaking. I tried doing the transparent bubble to minimize impact.
As Jenx said, plan less detail for where its needed or you'll need to blot it out. Text without the bubble often just ends up being hard to read.
In the future you could invent hot spots where the bubble would pop up only if you hold your cursor over the character and disappear when the cursor moved away.
Really advanced would be to cue a sound bite to play when you click on a character then your image would be text free.

3D Celebrity Lola I think is a success. Out of that series it is the clearest of what real person they have copied which could be considered a success or not. While it is a really good texture set it also continually drags my imagination back to the RL actress.
Thread: New Waccom drawing tabel. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Acadia,
Being a former illustrator who could never imagine using a computer to muscle in on my artwork I can offer you my findings of 25 years of using a tablet:
In 1983, it was a very strange disconnected feeling, as you described. Tablets and pens have gotten better over the years but it has never been the same experience of touching the surface directly with a pen/pencil.
That said, Cintiq isn't going to bridge that gap either. Pagenartist and cobaltdream have points too.
Reaching up to paint on the Cintiq screen is going to kill your shoulder, and it won't take long.
I still use an Intuos 6x8 daily and it serves all my CG drawing needs without crippling me.
If something really needed an old-school look there's no crime in getting out the traditional media and scanning it further down the line if needed.
If you get the Cintiq I hope you let us know how you like it/ or don't.

Interesting oro_snake,
as the link to Thoth's picture isn't a part of the Thoth gallery of images. The newest gallery addition being 6 years ago. Well, I guess it's not about speed.

Wow, flashback! The car still looks pretty good but the simple Poser people look chunky in geometry and flat in textures. Poser has improved a lot since then.
Thread: Reflection problem in Poser 7. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I'm dying to but its pre-release, at this point its pre-submission and wouldn't be prudent to show at this stage. Thought I was moving on but now I'm trying to figure out how to get around that it un-welds seams on where materials change or perhaps its UV coordinates I have a gap and I'm trying to weld it in Poser, in LW there's no problem. If you have any magic bullets for that problem, you have my attention. Thanks for the support. don

Four months after the original post, another guy, on the other side of the world struggles with strange reflections showing up on his Lightwave car rendered in Poser6. He is close to madness as 2 days of tweaking and repainting maps can not eradicate these strange anomolies. Finally, he does a search at Poser forums and voila! "Thank you, thank you!! It's so simple A child could do it, a child could do it!" Normals forward, tick! Refl-lite mult, un-tick!

I would love to hear the explanation, technical though it may be, why it could work for some and not for others. I am technically savvy but admittedly I not a comp-sci. Similar to MikeJ, its refusal to cooperate exceeded my time/patience budget to work through the problem and I moved on.
That said, there seemed to be a dearth of explanations why it wasn't working, plenty of tutorials about how easy it was though.
Thanks Xeno,
I do realize my hateful and snide comment about "hateful and snide comments" was a bit of the dragon eating the tail. I must constantly urge myself to keep my posts shorter so we can all parse the info faster. And in that spirit... ciao for now.

My first version of LW, was 6.5 and then 7, as you said, came out a couple weeks later. I kept thinking that it would just take MetaCreations some time for them to work out the bugs with the new version of LW. What a disappointment. Now they are vamping up for the next PRO PACK, boasting hosting capabilities. I will be taking a wait and see attitude.
Will Smith do something with Poser that previous companies have not?

Shhhhh...LW9.5 pics..for your eyes only
Page 35 of a 52 page thread to be exact. That was about an hour's search to find, wading through a lot of pictures of fur and hateful and snide comments to buffer all the "how cool am I to be able to put down what others have put up". There are some interesting pictures of lights too.
The horse example looks a lot like the modo example rjandron linked above. One picks the seams where you want to break the object and the object is laid out like a pelt. Pretty cool.
Yeah, MikeJ
I gave up on most any plug-in Poser says it has, except for importing and exporting obj's.
Seven years ago, I would crash on a regular basis trying to get their Poser to LW animation plug to work, never did and they have still never made it work. Although I do understand some use(d) it.

aAGgh! Wow, that's pretty cool. Short and to the point but looks magical in its simplicity.
I got Modo 103 on sale with the idea of upgrading to 301. And I am stuck at that cross-over curse of not taking the time to stop working to learn a new app and see if its safe to spend the bucks for the upgrade.
Thanks a lot for that info.
And thanks, Monoloz, anything that comes into LW for free will be easier for me to fold in as that's where I'm doing the work.
