i'd say it's 3d,but i really don't think it's poser...the model looks a little like jennifer connoly from that angle...now there's a model i'd like for poser :)

max is very easy...the free habware plugins that allow you to import/export .obj's will do the scaling for you automatically,set them once and forget about it[import vertex scale=100/export vertex scale=.001]in the plugin dialogs you can also choose to import all or any of the body parts singly,or all as a unified mesh[no good for morphs]once you do it once or twice it's VERY easy.max's modeling tools are more than good enough to do whatever you want

yup that's pretty close,allthough it should be more visable and "in contact" with the arm down...here's a xray pic i grabbed from google...apologies to whomever owns the copyright or the shoulder itself!

looks good but just an observation...his/her shoulders aren't connected,there should be a "ball" type joint at the top of the humourous,not unlike the top the thigh at the hip joint...i've seen enough xrays of my own,i've broken them both at different times,but they never looked like that!

yup a bit rude,but compared to some forums dealing with max i frequent...pretty tame. the point behind it i believe is that this is a VERY simple question,one that could be answered in less than a minute by reading the help files or just messing around pushing buttons...this is after all a very basic modeling function.it's just pure laziness to ask a question such as this...in some forums i've been to you would be insulted and told all this,or even shown pictures of racecars as a response[ie formula1=F1=read the help files]...questions from newbies are fine but this is beyond the beyond with a package costing as much as 3dsmax does,the poster most likely has an illegal copy to start with,these kind of questions are a dead giveaway

should also be a direct link to windows update right at the top of your start menu...unless you've removed it at some point...

i'm on a pc myself,but i started out with netscape and stayed with it till the 4.x series,then i switched to IE for the same reasons you just stated,compatibility,i got tired of pages loading funny or not at all...this will all just get worse as web development marches on and leaves these browsers behind...the truth is NS 3.x is the fastest browser going,noticeably faster than ANY version of IE in fact....but it's old and has way more problems with stuff on the web than even NS 4.x does now...things don't always get better do they?anyway the point is it ain't a mac problem its an obsolete netscape software problem.i still have NS 4.8 loaded on my sys but only to use the mail client these days...there is mozilla,it's the NS 4.x source code gone open source and supposedly updated...i don't know if it's still in public beta,or if there's a mac version tho

the ftp is up and running,might be a firewall or browser issue...it is an ftp,so you need to login,but if perhaps you've set your browser to not automatically use an anonymous logon...most default to this,but if it's been changed you'll likely get errors or at least not very far :) i downloaded 4.8 from there not so long ago,and checking tonight it is all still there,all NS versions from 3.03 to 7 in all languages and all versions,pc,mac and even unix where applicable...both the little auto-downloader type of installers[yuck]and the full installation files too.it's one stop shopping for all things Netscape.

The NS web links for it are always broken these days." ok have you tried the ftp???...my ftp prog shipped with a link built in to this and some other ftp's of note...netscape was still a "major player" at that time...but the link still works,the site is still there. ftp://ftp.netscape.com/pub/ plug that into your browser for all the netscape software you can deal with,almost all versions are there,the 4.x are in the "communicator" folder.

pro also supports dual processors while home does not,if you don't have or don't plan on upgrading to a dual setup this means nothing at all...

like i said,these files are essentially zip files!the wizard just puts a nice little windows "front end" on things...if you want to, you can open them up with winzip and see what's inside and then extract things that way if you like...personally i scan everything that enters my computer for virii...zip files included,i don't see this as an issue unless you have poor habits regarding this stuff in the first place.

yes i did consider the mac question after i posted this...i seriously doubt they would be able to run an exe generated from this prog..it's very much windows based. the files are however able to be opened by winzip,just like exe files generated by that program...i would imagine any MAC user that could cope with zip files could "probably" deal with these as well...but don't hold me to that!

cooler,nice soap! i took a bit of a different route,i made a whole new standard prop,i went into max and made up a chamfer box with zero chamfer,exported it then,added the chamfer...imported the first box into poser,then added the second as a morph target and saved it as a prop pp2 file...the end result a box prop with a morphing round edge,it'll morph all the way to full sphere!unfortunately the more you morph the more the mapping gets messed up on the edges,i'm not sure how to counter that.but it should be useful for a few things and it makes a pretty good bar of soap with some scaling and dial twiddling... if anyone wants a copy,post here or message me with an email addy,and i'll email a copy :)

ummm that's a really simple prop...what exactly are you looking for?unless it's for an extreme closeup why not just use a standard poser "box" prop?scale it's dimensions to the right size and shape make it white or whatever color soap you need and viola!,one bar of soap?if that won't do for your needs,post a bit more info,if it doesn't exist already,i'm sure i or someone else can whip out a "bar of soap" prop from 3dsmax or whatever prog pretty quickly,it should take all of several seconds to make a box and round the corners off,bend it a bit or whatever it needs,unless like i said you need extreme detail like indented logo lettering or something this is a really simple shape

yes they still release them poserschool it's called a "unified driver". that same download you got is the same one you need for EVERY nvidia card,if you had a gf4 or a tnt1 you could use that same exe file to load the drivers for it...all i'm saying is that you're probably not going to get much in the way of enhancements or fixes in these newer drivers if you have an older card,they release them about weekly...to fix glitches in the new cards that people are screaming about,they really don't waste thier time trying to wring more performance out of a card they sold three years ago..that part of the code was working about as well as it was ever going to a while back,they just add more stuff to it for the new cards now...sometimes that's good for everyone,but sometimes it's not...the difference between a tnt2 and a gf4 is vast!
